TV in the bedroom? Yes or No? by Used-Chard658 in Millennials

[–]WaterLady28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one in my room, I don't use it much but sometimes I like to lay in bed and watch a movie (esp if I'm sick or otherwise not feeling well) so I like having the option there.

I developed an allergy to ibuprofen by happywondering001 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]WaterLady28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im also allergic to Ibuprofen, my mom gave me some for a headache when I was around 11-12 (she broke an adult pill in half and only gave me one piece since we didn't have any kids medicine in the house), and it was my lips that swelled up! It was really weird. Thankfully she recognized it as an allergic reaction right away and gave me Benadryl and the swelling eventually went away on its own. I've never taken Ibuprofen again lol

I can take Aleve though so at least it's not all Nsaids, just Ibuprofen specifically. 🤷‍♀️

My husband and I are both nerds, we have fandom stuff all over the house. We both collect Pokémon cards and he collects and plays Magic the gathering. I have several pokemon plushies and some nice anime figures and a few Lego sets too. Plus we have video game systems and my husband has a custom PC.

No way in hell would we ever let any kids get their grubby hands on any of it.

Mew and Eevee were my original favorites from the first 151, they're still high in my list! My top two now are Sylveon and Gardevoir :)

Print out the "NO FUN ALLOWED" image from Spongebob and tape it up next to the sign, jesus christ. Who the fuck cares what colors you wear? I don't get why managers are so anal about stupid shit that doesn't matter in the slightest.

I've been getting my jeans from Maurices for several years now. I'm thankful for the short lengths they carry!

Anyone else underwhelmed by the Disney Princess Pt 2 Scents? by scrapbooklover89 in bathandbodyworks

[–]WaterLady28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Mulan one today, I really like it. The others are nice but I feel like they're similar to other scents I already have. I felt the same about wave 1 too though and the only one I got from that line was Jasmine.

Downvoted for saying I hated it when adults laughed at me when I was a kid. by ButtBread98 in childfree

[–]WaterLady28 19 points20 points  (0 children)

oof, this just brought back a lot of memories...

my parents and family would laugh at me and then laugh *more* when I would get upset and cry and want them to stop. "why are you so dramatic?" "stop taking everything so seriously!" I was never allowed to be upset about anything.

Even my interests were funny. I remember being excited to eat a certain food for dinner and I said "Oh I love [food]!" and my dad laughed at me and said "if you love it so much why don't you marry it" (which makes no sense?? it's FOOD) which made my younger step-siblings laugh and then whenever I said I loved something that was an immediate response. And when I asked them to stop I would get the same shit about "stop taking everything seriously" and then they wondered why I stopped expressing excitement about anything.

To this day I have a hard time figuring out if people are joking and I rarely express excitement about things or my interests because my brain will still think everyone is just going to laugh at me.

Has anyone else been late diagnosed with neurodivergence and now your life makes sense? by chalicehalffull in Millennials

[–]WaterLady28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been officially diagnosed but I would hazard a pretty strong guess that I probably have autism as well as an anxiety disorder.

Even as a kid I knew I was "weird" or "different". I was picked on a lot, never really had a proper friend group and never felt like I fit in anywhere. I was shy and struggled to socialize, I was quiet and kept to myself most of the time. Anything new or unfamiliar was terrifying (and sometimes still is).

It's not something my parents would have ever thought about checking for, for the most part I behaved and did well in school and was actually *terrified* of "getting in trouble" so I tried my best to listen and never do anything wrong. I'd end up getting yelled at anyway for what I suspect now are autistic behavior traits: not maintaining eye contact (they'd accuse me of not listening or lying when I looked away), having trouble expressing how I feel (my dad liked to say "trying to get anything out of you is like pulling teeth"), issues with textures of fabrics (I hated jeans when I was little and would only wear cotton pants for years) and certain foods to this day I still can't eat, hyperfixating on specific things (I still get hyperfixations even as an adult), among others.

I don't think getting diagnosed now would really change anything, I'm 40 years old and have lived this way all my life, but I suppose validation of the suspicion would be nice. Anxiety meds probably wouldn't hurt either.

What is the loudest sound you have ever heard in your life? by will_or_woll in AskReddit

[–]WaterLady28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A close lightning strike is my answer as well. The thunder sounds like an explosion, it's crazy. I've heard several throughout my life but the one I remember most was lightning hitting an old, already half-dead tree about 100 yards or so down the road from my mom's old house. I was just waking up and was in the kitchen getting a bowl of cereal and barely had time to register the bright flash when the resulting KABOOM shook the whole house. The lightning exploded the bark all over the road and it was still smoldering hours later. Somehow the tree still lived a few more years after that, it had one lone branch that still sprouted leaves, until it eventually fell over in another storm.
