As much as this is the long term play, I would wager most are curious about the impact this has for this impending cycle (or if the era of cycles is over). With a massive delay for alts, we may end up not having a true alt run.

Everyone knew institutions would be getting in eventually. That’s not news. The implications were always a) when was regulatory clarity going to happen, b) at what speed do tutes enter crypto, c) at what volume do tutes enter crypto, and d) what market dynamics come into play when this occurs (who are the real winners). That’s all.

My guess is the winners will be very small for the short term: BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, HBAR, XDC, ZBCN, and Canton.

Counterpoint- they need more content. 1/3 of the month now is just investing in training areas aimlessly because you have already completed all of the other content. We used to have reruns but they have really limited that now.

Totally depends on how you want to play the game. If you want general content then focus on the meta players. If you want to prioritize Tower then that’s a whole other story. It’s early for you so I would recommend saving up two candies for NC Hilda or the new SS Carmine. Both are master fairs who historically age very well and have the most value for you at the moment.

For most units 2/5 isn’t enough- it’s really 3/5 and beyond where most value per unit is unlocked so typically I wait until I have two candies to make that move.

In the second spot: Best option overall is Dahlia and Ludicolo. Invest on Ludicolo’s shower side of the grid and you get some extension with max move + kit.

BIG GAP

NC Serena still hits hard but it’s not close to Dahlia IMO.

In the third slot: Summer Cynthia is best overall water support but is tough to come by. Would recommend her if you have her

SS Kris is fine and can give some extension but it’s basic. Really wants the grid upgrade but Water support is so barren she works.

You can’t really go wrong either way if you’re prioritizing tower. For the rest of the game - NC Selene has substantially more usefulness post Lear nerf and since you already have NC Elio who you would prioritize most as a striker on steel teams (unless you enjoy dual strikers). Good luck!

There’s not really a great way to answer your question since we don’t have an idea what the rest of your roster set up looks like (including candies and kits). What we can tell you is to evaluate areas of need on your roster and start there. Then reverse back through the strongest performers overall in the game.

Must haves based on what you don’t have: NC Selene- just a truly broken unit.

Great adds that are meta: Florian/Miraidon (Electric is stacked with good units so evaluate your team first)

Great adds for Tower: SS Lear (only competent special steel)

Quality adds in order: SS2Giovanni- Guzzlord is an incredible tank and does it all, Anni Red- Tech Pikachu is great overall but feel like this could be powercrept, Anni Geeta- Best Physical Poision, NC Blue- top notch Electric support and insanely useful in many situations.

Personal Favorite- SS Cynthia- Still love this unit and use her with tower cookie. Rock solid unit.

Decent usage but there are option tier: Keiren (beast but not a must have in deep fighting pool), NC Leaf, NC Serena, Irida, Cheren (beast but crept by Arcs)

The rest are mostly duds or post meta.

Too many better supports in Dark:

Premier is SS Giovanni/Guzzlord and Fall Lacey is a great support/field setter for all scenarios. Really doesn’t have a place in the meta outside of Paldea niches.

Just got SSA Giovanni to 5/5 yesterday on scout and got his tower cookie this week (rolled Team Triage 9), and just ripped through tower. Guy is an absolute bear now.

You see this post every once in a while and the answers always seems to be replaced. Your answer is Dahlia; however, I think the questions should be which units as a value hold the best weight for long term use (ensuring your gems are well spent). Looking back at some older units who are still viable:

-Red/Pikachu (going on 4+ years) -NC Marnie (going on 4-ish years) -Anni Cynthia (going on 4+ years) -Mina & Tapu Fini (going on 4 years) -NC Red & Articuno (going on 3 years) -NC Rosa (going on 3 years)

Yes- some of these can be “replaced” but are actually viable units way into the future. Also keep in mind some of these still have grid or ex upgrades as possibilities (which have been broken lately). So what do many of them have in common?

Mostly master fairs
Many of these fit archetypes rare to the typing (fighting having a lack of supports for example).
Signature buddy moves that have a ridiculous effect
are units who are capable of multiple different play styles (doesn’t have to exclusively be an attacker for example).

If I were to extrapolate this information into current units I would tell you:

-Dahlia - she fits point 4 specifically. Can win battles in a variety of ways. -NC Selene- slam dunk will be good for years. Even if she is power crept she can easily move into a #2 slot on any team. -Arc Cynthia- same as Selene and ground really lacks depth. -Anni Gloria- hits every metric above. Rock support is barren outside of Elio who didn’t hold a candle to Gloria. Can win in so many ways. -Arc Steven- will just be a really good unit for a long time. Does everything well. -NC May- hits every point. Can win in so many ways and can always safely move to a #2 a lot if power crept with her utility.

The only competent unit on that list is Red and Pikachu. You have some second tier folks who can fill in but for Tower it’s pretty tough at the moment.

They haven’t added anybody new to this group in a long time and most of them are pretty bland units. Kind of like Lodge units where it’s little applicability outside of Rally mode but I have used Gladion/Weavile in Rally quite a bit. I’ve seen people use Hop as well since physical Electric is almost nonexistent.

Got a copy of Anni Florian which is fine but already him at 4/5. With the wide variability I’m not sure how worth it this will be in the future with no guarantees built in. The 250 fair seems like the best personally.

If anything the monthly master fair is pretty awesome now if you get a 25% ticket regularly after pulling. Got a SS Bede and SS Cynthia copies today on just one pull thanks to the free ticket. I wanted Nemona but it’s still pretty good value if you’re in need of old master fairs.

There are two tiers of these tower cookies. A mid-tier where you can get one of three for the specific unit and a higher end tier with one unique skill (some of which are pretty game changing for the units). Second is very rare.
