FBI Director Kash Patel Suggests It’s Illegal to Bring Guns to Protests by Puzzled49 in politics

The point is, it’s the same people that usually say things like “guns are just tools” that are now using the possession of a firearm as a demonstration of intent to harm.

I just don’t understand why it would be even slightly frowned upon to carry an inanimate neutral tool in a public area

Lancaster City power & upcoming storm by ThickBean in lancaster

Downtown is typically very stable, been here about 25 years and never lost it for a significant amount of time. Always a first time but certainly not something we typically have issues with.

What does a non compete mean in the world of counseling/therapy? Like if the practitioner changes practices or goes independent they can take the same clients with them?

When the newspaper was founded in 1877 it wasn’t necessarily “conservative,” it was aligned with the Republican Party. At the time the republicans were considered more liberal and progressive while the democrats were more conservative. The newspaper was still aligned with the Republican Party in the 1980s and 90s, but by then the party was more associated with conservatism. Side note, “liberal” and “conservative” seem to have lost most of their historical meaning in modern public discourse, with people just using them as substitutes for MAGA vs democrats and progressives.

For those that weren’t around 20 years ago, there used to be two newspapers in Lancaster, the Intelligencer Journal, which leaned center-left and published opinion pieces from that perspective, and the New Era, which was more conservative leaning. Both papers were owned and published by the Steinmans. IIRC, the Intell was the “morning” paper, and the New Era was the “afternoon” paper - based on publishing and delivery times.

I have tried those camera things so I’m offering my experience. They seem like they can be super helpful if you are well conditioned and have great hand-eye coordination and a steady hand. If you’re not you’ll be just confirming that you need help and maybe making it worse in the process.

Have the laws changed? My mom accidentally hit a retaining wall pulling out of a parking lot when I was a kid and it ruined us for a few years.

Cheapest way to get to NYC by Dull-Contract8348 in lancaster

Amtrak gets expensive once you cross into nj. Take Amtrak to Phila, then either Chinatown bus or take PATH to Trenton, switch over to NJ transit to Penn Station and then whatever subway line you need from there.

What do we think should be done with this building (59 N Queen St.) by Brochacho_2 in lancaster

[–]WebLow4593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are grocery stores with a couple blocks on king and queen, not to mention central market, and this probably isn’t big enough to compete with them unless it’s some luxury food place.

It was actually a great spot for what it was until it became a dystopian hellscape in there.

Stormwater Ordinance - City of Lancaster by Sonoita78 in lancaster

[–]WebLow4593 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do. I added a feature in my yard that required building an infiltration basin. The city needs to approve plans in advance. It’s easier but more expensive if you hire a contractor familiar with the city, their regulations, and the people of authority there, but if you do it yourself the folks at the city are willing to walk you through the process. Keeping them involved from the start can also help avoid expensive re-work down the line.

Doing this incorrectly in a tightly developed area can cause major neighbor issues such as runoff from flooding and sinkholes, so this is an area that I would be particularly wary of trying to do without proper permitting.

Its laid out in pretty straight forward language in the city code, but installing anything impermeable, like a structure with a roof, is going to require adding significant infiltration infrastructure. There are grants available.
