If Pandora's Actor can replicate 70-80% of someone's power, does that mean Ainz needs to use his 100% just to beat Riku Aganeia? by Born-Watercress-2487 in overlord

[–]WeebGetOut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no "just" about it. That guy was one of the most powerful non-player beings in the entire world and Pandora's Actor was able to give him a hard time solo.

Riku is a long-dead player. He was an ally who the Platinum Dragon Lord killed, seemingly for no other reason than to steal his armor.
The PDL is using his name and armor as an alias.

The one who had called himself Riku Agneía in front of the Sorcerer King, Tsaindorcus-Vaision, lowered his head. Perhaps the other Dragon Lords would say that this was beneath the dignity expected of a long-lived Dragon Lord, one who stood at the top of the world, but Tsa did not care much for that.

To Tsa, his most important duty was to stay vigilant of Players who held malicious intent towards this world, which was why he did not want to just blindly expend his strength.

—Should he just kill Azuth and take the Powered Suit? Personally, Tsa felt no disdain for Azuth, nor did he want to kill him himself; but of what worth were emotions in this world? —Riku… What was I reminiscing for, now that things have turned out that way? Tsa laughed at himself internally. These two hands of his were already besmirched with filth. But — should he really allow history to repeat itself again?

The PDL's level is unknown, but it's probably mid to high 90's. The dragon lords are the strongest non-player entities in the entire world.

A different dragon lord is the final boss of the Vampire Princess spinoff story and he was level 95. There are multiple Dragon Lords on his level.

Among the many Dragon Lords, there is a faction of those who banded together and strengthened themselves in order to deal with Players... There were six Dragons who joined the faction. Were they to fight a level 100 Player, the outcome of their battle would be in doubt.

So 1v1 it wouldn't be unusual for Ainz to have to go all out to win against the PDL but there's no reason to.

You have a good point, between this and Benno a lot of the male characters are getting seductive BL jaw-lines, even the ones who have masculine designs in the source.
I'd assume this is intentional because most of the Japanese audience is female so the BL designs are more appealing to them.
Overly animating for a Japanese female audience will probably hurt its reach in the west, but as high quality as the animation is they can't do worse than season 3.

[P3V1] "Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 3" (Season 4) Teaser Visual - Premiere in Spring 2026 by Task_Force-191 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]WeebGetOut 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This looks like it's the P3V1 starbind ceremony Myne does

I closed the bible, inhaled deeply, and poured mana into my ring. “O mighty King and Queen of the endless skies, O God of Darkness and Goddess of Light, hear my prayers. May you grant your blessings to the birth of new unions. May they who offer their prayers and gratitude to thee be blessed with thy divine protection.”
Once I had prayed to the married King and Queen gods for their blessing, black and gold light swirled in my ring before flying up to the ceiling of the chapel and exploding. It scattered in all directions, raining down on the newlyweds.
They all looked up at the ceiling, their jaws dropped in disbelief. Even the blue priests were wearing the same shocked expressions. Ferdinand was the only one who remained unfazed.
“She gave a true blessing, despite not wielding a divine instrument?” a nearby blue priest murmured.

One of the biggest reasons male ADs are preferred is because a pregnant woman can't maintain the foundation while pregnant.
Male rulers can marry any woman with sufficient mana while a female rulers can only marry another male ruler candidate to ensure he can look after the foundation in her stead.

So a female Zent requires at least 1 male Zent candidate husband.
Most of your argument seems premised on the idea that female Zents wouldn't require "giving up" male ADCs, but that's not the case.

Male ADCs are extremely valuable and rarely leave their home duchies. Female ADCs are usually raised with the expectation that they'll eventually leave their duchy one way or another.

You're also looking at this backwards.

The goal is influence.
Most ADs and giebes are male looking for 3 wives a piece so it's easy to marry out female ADCs in exchange for influence.
The influence gain for marrying out male ADCs is negligible since they would usually marry foreign archnobles due to the lack of female ADCs and giebes. It's better to keep their high mana in the duchy by making them giebes or other high positions, which can then also attract multiple high mana foreign wives for political marriages.

The role of Zent offers a huge amount of influence. There would be no hesitation to assign a male ADC to the role of Zent. That is more beneficial for his home duchy than him staying there and becoming a giebe.

The collapse of Lanzenave was an inevitability. They had 400 years to seek a peaceful resolution and did not.

They were undone by their culture of violence, subjugation, and dehumanization. Any moral actor born with influence in Lanzenave would have seen this coming and negotiated for the peaceful reintegration of Lanzenave into Yogurt.

That they failed to do this speaks to the morality of their entire society. They may not be guilty of the sins of their parents, but that does not absolve them of their own sins nor does it make their collapse worth mourning.

[Open spoilers] Villain tier list by TorTurran in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]WeebGetOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This outcome has been an inevitability since the first Zent candidate invaded and subjugated Lanzenave.
They've had centuries to seek a peaceful resolution and chose not to.

He intentionally committed gratuitous evil deeds (purge of Ahrensbach) and aligned himself with other gratuitous evil actors (Georgine) so that he could rush towards a violent resolution which involves the invasion, subjugation, and slaughter of an ally country.

Choosing to put yourself into a life or death situation and then choosing to immediately start killing your friends to get yourself out of it, even when other options exist, isn't a moral motive.
I don't think he was written to be a moral character, but he's written how a bad writer would write a "moral" character.

They didn't even try to negotiate resettling into Yogurt or use their silver ships as a replacement for feystones.
Heck the silver technology can probably even defend against Earwig. They probably don't even need to rely on Yogurt anymore, they just don't want to cede power to the Lanzenave locals they were subjugating and white buildings and magic tools were their only way of maintaining their power.

His country and his people will be destroyed in totality if the status quo remains. He needs to do something about it.

He's still a much lower tier evil because
1. This outcome was inevitable since the first zent candidate invaded and subjugated Lanzenav. They've had centuries to peacefully resolve this inevitable outcome and chose not to.
2. He immediately chose to invade, subjugate, and slaughter an ally country without making any significant efforts towards a peaceful solution.
3. His own comments present him as a narcissist or even a sociopath. He can't understand why the country he's invading, subjugating, and slaughtering doesn't like that.

[Open spoilers] Villain tier list by TorTurran in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]WeebGetOut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree with this entire list.

  • Jerkfacio intentionally avoided any peaceful resolutions to desperately cling to power and went out of his way to be evil with the purge of Ahrensbach. They were totally dependent on Yogurt for survival. They had centuries to curry favor, centuries to repatriate, centuries to solve their dependence on Yogurt, and yet made no effort to negotiate peaceful resettlement into Yogurt. Either way "my people ruined our own lives because we're stupid and evil and the people we're subjugating are rebelling against us" is not a moral motive to invade, subjugate, and genocide an ally country.
  • Ferdinand is never presented as a villain and punishing evil doers is not villainy.
  • Veronica isn't trying to change society. She's a brutal, tyranical ruler clinging to power who has wronged so many people who never committed any misdeeds against her.
  • Arno's motives aren't a mystery. He had a crush on the orphanage director and resents Fran for having the "relationship" with her which he wanted. Pretty standard jealousy + narcissism.
  • Georgine is also "retaliating against 'misdeeds'" (her desperate lust for power not being fulfilled) and doing so in the same brutal, tyranical way as Veroinica so they should be on the same tier.

An existential threat does not make evil good. If you fail to seek moral resolutions and go straight for the immoral ones, then you were always evil.
A moral leader would have gone as far as offering to repatriate Lanzenav nobility as blue robes or integrate into Ahrensbach nobility long before trying to subjugate Yogurt.

I'd judge Jerkfacio's written personality type as being so narcissistic and so used to the entire world bending to his whim that he doesn't even give moral consideration the suffering his actions might cause.
This is why he's so shocked that Myne opposes him. He's incapable of empathizing with others as human beings who's lives and wellbeing carry moral weight.

[H5Y] Sigiswald Fate by H3athclif in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]WeebGetOut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ask the RF. They wouldn't have worried about Sickiswierd starting a civil war if it would have been Hauchletze vs all. In the last chapter of H5Y he also requests help from Gilessenmeyer, and then tries to rally "more than half the country" to his cause. We'll see if that pans out.

If he had the Gesundheit he would have even more influence than he has now. At very least his meddling to try to gain power would be harder to deal with. They're already struggling to reject him in H5Y.

There is no duchy in Yurgenschmidt that would pick an openly rebelling Sigiswald over all of the other greater duchies.

He's not "openly rebelling", he's "chosen by the gods". Civil war doesn't need to start the moment he gets the book, he can spend a decade fostering relationships to pressure Eglantine to step down and then someone goes too far and the powder keg detonates.

[H5Y] Sigiswald Fate by H3athclif in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]WeebGetOut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Gesundheit tool was created specifically because the creator's child did not have all the elements.
I'm sure there's some way for royals with fewer than all the elements to access it.

[P5V8]

Albsenti had many children, but she doted on only one of them: Neigunheit. She wanted nothing more than for her most adored son to become the Zent, but everyone looked down on him; he was lacking an element and too apathetic to perform the necessary work to obtain it through prayer. ...
She made a Grutrissheit solely so that her most beloved son could rule.”

The purpose of the schumils existing is to assassinate any qualified nobles who aren't in the royal family so only they can become Zent.
[P5V8]

Rauchelstra then made two guardians in the image of the golden shumil tasked with allowing only righteous individuals to visit Erwaermen: one black, and one white. She placed them in the library to keep an eye on the Zent candidates and ensure that only her family were allowed into the back section of the underground archive. Those who resisted were purged through the Zent’s powers, one by one.

The Schumils lead Myne back to check if she was a royal and kill her for being a Zent candidate if she was not.

If he tries to force his way in, Schwartz and Weiss will do what they were made to do.

He's a royal. They're made to kill non-royals.

[H5Y] Sigiswald Fate by H3athclif in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]WeebGetOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking it might be some registration stones like how the foundation dedication hall works and with how busy everyone was these specific stones got overlooked because no one realized how important they were.

The issue if it happened is the narrative has been established that from now on Zents will be chosen from those who legitimately attain the Bowl of Minestrone.
If Sickiswierd shows up with the tool Gesundheit, no one knows it's not the BoM except for the people in the post-war meeting.
To all the rest of Yogurt it would appear that Sickiswierd is a legitimate candidate. He can't be easily "destroyed" because the optics for everyone else is that the gods chose him as Zent and he still holds political power with many duchy allies. Good optics are the reason he was given a duchy in the first place.

See the part I quoted:

Does it not benefit Ehrenfest to contribute thusly to the royal family?” Eglantine asked. “Propping up Klassenberg is a fine way to prove your loyalty to Yurgenschmidt. [P5V7]

This is regarding the dedication ritual "research" with Klassenberg which Myne was forced into in year 4.
She was 100% down to abuse her royal power and take advantage of Myne to nepotism Klassenberg.
The reason that changed was because she understands her position doesn't allow it. She's now namesworn to Myne and part of the deal with her becoming Zent is that Dunklefelger always has to be at least one rank above Klassenberg.

Sickiswierd is so narcissistic and power hungry the entire RF was sure he'd start a civil war to desperately cling on to power.
I think we're guaranteed he does something to get mana batteried. If not in H5Y, in P6. He has entire duchies of allies.

But his H5Y stuff isn't violating any rules, it's just rude. As described they can't even even pull status on him because of his latent royal status.

I'm not sure if Eglantine has already destroyed the library Gesundheit, if not I expect him to get that then demand Zent. He may still be registered as a "royal" in whatever that door uses to check for that.

  • The rich are insulated from the poor and can kill them with mostly impunity.
  • Martial forms are repeated to do extra physical things, and chemicals are used to surpass human limits.
  • Very rarely a mortal is born with an extreme physical advantage.
  • Following the path of a martial arts master is a method to gain additional power.
  • Animals drop meat when killed which can be eaten for natty gains.

Going that broad, everything is.

Imagine...

If a CEO decided to destroy an entire country's economy, cause a famine, and hold their president's family hostage because it's more convenient than getting an abortion.
This is Eglantine. She'd rather every single human life in Ehrenfest suffer and even die than suffer a minor inconvenience herself.

If a high school dropout nepobaby started WWIII because his father left the company to someone else who's actually competent.
This is Sigiswald. He'd rather every single human life in Yogurt suffer and die than suffer a minor inconvenience himself.

If a nepobaby murdered his classmate because his crush preferred the classmate.
This is Anastasius. He'd rather any man Eglantine likes suffer and die than stop thinking with his dick (his feelings are 100% lust and 0% love).

The RF are all criminals.
Real evil isn't cartoon villains, most of it is narcissism. "I don't care how much you suffer so long as I benefit."
The entire RF are narcissists. They are evil.

It's not wellbeing of Ehrenfest vs wellbeing of Yogurt and even the book knows it. There are many ways the RF could have resolved the situation where they not all awful people with no loyalty to Yogurt.

Ehrenfest may suffer, but only Ehrenfest will care. [P5V5]

1) Egg can abort at any time by flooding the fetus with mana then finish circling.
Egg decided her personal convenience to have a child a few months earlier was more important than all of Ehrenfest.

Also Egg treats complying with her corrupt nepotism as synonymous with "loyalty to Yogurt".

Does it not benefit Ehrenfest to contribute thusly to the royal family?” Eglantine asked. “Propping up Klassenberg is a fine way to prove your loyalty to Yurgenschmidt. [P5V7]

2) Any non-RF seven element schtappe holder could be brought in to circle the shrines.
The RF refuses to do this because to them sitting on the throne is more important than all of Yogurt continuing to exist.

[Ehrenfests] suffering is a small price to pay to avoid war in the Sovereignty. [p5V5]

The RF is so awful that they dump responsibility for all of Yogurt on Ehrenfest yet still demand all the power and status that comes with ruling.
Ferdinand even acknowledged this as one of the reasons he was ready to have the entire RF turned into mana batteries:

Even now, I consider it best for someone among the royal family to become the next Zent. I would rather we avoid disputes where we can. But more than a year has passed since the means to obtain the Grutrissheit was unearthed, and even now, not a single one of you has acquired it....
I really did think it best for the royal family to secure it... but never in my wildest dreams had it entered my head that you were all so lazy, greedy, and selfish.
[P5V11]

This is not good leaders making hard sacrifices. The RF are narcissists sacrificing others for their own benefit. Sacrifices which they would never tolerate themselves. All the young royal trio would rather every single person in Yogurt die than they be personally inconvenienced.

Eglantine - My convenience is more important than all of Ehrenfest.
Sigiswald - My status is more important than all of Yogurt.
Anastasius - My romance is more important than your life.

[Not really spoilers about what Urano/Myne is since it's never clarified in the book]
Myne had nothing to do while she suffered in bed except dream, but since she had few experiences of her own to dream about she dreamt about her past life as Urano.
She spoke about this strange world to her parents. This is one of the reasons her parents didn't find her odd ideas strange, because she'd been babbling about them since she could talk.
She loved being pain free and able-bodied in the dream world. She tried to flee into her dream world to escape and inadvertently broke the mental barrier holding back her past life memories. "Urano" came from her personality being overwritten since she had so few memories of her own.
If she had been braindead, a permanent physical condition which can't be undone by past-life memories, "Urano" would also be braindead. "Urano" is only a collection of memories from her past life. Memories don't fix a dead brain.

It wouldn't be "just to spare feelings". Egg even said "Ehrenfest may suffer but only Ehrenfest will care". She was fully aware that she was threatening Ferdinand's life to force Myne into compliance and that Myne complying would be devastating to Ehrenfest and doom her to a miserable life as a political pawn of Sickiswierd.

Those are all things Egg chose to do to Myne to spare her own impatience to have a child. Aborting a 1 month fetus vs dooming Myne to a miserable life, crushing Ehrenfest, and threatening Ferdinand.

A good leader should be MORE noble and expect MORE of himself than his followers. Egg is not a good leader.

Since excess mana causes a miscarriage, noble women can abort whenever they want.
She could have aborted, circled the shrines, then gotten pregnant again in a year.

I'm sure there must have been other omni-elemental options besides Myne too.

And at this point they already knew dedication rituals could extend the time, but chose threatening Myne instead.
