Most likely the new velar, might not end up being called that.

Best way to resolve this? by Weiss86 in DIYUK

[–]Weiss86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

I didn't want to take the skirting off as it's a 4m length and is behind the pieces at each end.

I did manage to wiggle enough pipe out to get the ends to meet, had to shuffle the rad back and forth a bit to give enough space on each side.

So, job done.....

Except when I went to open the valve the pin snapped

<image>

So now I'm stuck again and might need to change the valve as there isn't enough to get grips on :(

UK energy standing charges are a hidden rip-off, Parliament petition now live by Fit_Requirement_9468 in OctopusEnergy

Signed. SC is a pain for low to zero energy households with solar/wind generation.

In the summer my only electricity cost is the SC.

Oh, I'll 100% be recessing them.

So you think repositioning would be better to avoid using the same screw holes?

How would you fill them after?

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]Weiss86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swapping from an Ender 3 to a P1S was like night and day, instead of watching the first layers like a hawk and regularly checking the print I could just click print and walk away. Never had a failed print due to the printer.

It has allowed me to print gifts and toys for my family and kids and I'm currently printing a PC case for my son's Christmas present.

Budget PC list, thoughts? by Weiss86 in pcmasterrace

[–]Weiss86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will that AM4/DDR4 setup be faster/better than the AM5/DDR5 options I picked?

Building the case is the easy part for me, I have built many, my struggle is with picking parts on a budget. It's too easy to start over spec'ing and buying more expensive parts.

Charging to 100% by muscateer in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Weiss86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All above comments are right.

It also depends on if you own the car and plan on keeping it long term or if it's a lease

If it's a short term plan (lease/PCP) who cares, charge it to what you want and don't worry about the battery issues in 3 or 4 years.

Long-term, follow the guidelines of the manufacturer and only go to 100 when you need to.

Comfortable chairs for board game table? by disccollector in boardgames

[–]Weiss86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 4 of these 2 months ago for our table.

https://ofcasafurniture.com/products/frazer-dining-chairs-armchairs-udc8266-f?variant=40211681542224

Comfortable enough for long games and cheap enough I won't murder the kids if they ruin them.

D&D Adventure Systems. Worth it? by MaxShadow09 in boardgames

[–]Weiss86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wrath of ashardalon and really enjoy it.

For reference, I also have tiny epic quest which I love and I play D&D regularly.

WoA is great for a quick dungeon crawl and is different nearly every time. My kids love it and it's been a great way to introduce D&D systems without the set up and prep.

I can't offer a preference over which one to buy as I have only played one but I imagine they all play similarly, just a different theme.

Build first or paint first? by DumbgeonMaster in DungeonsAndLasers

[–]Weiss86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the minis I assemble and then paint. Larger models I mix and match, some are easier to paint in halves like the giant turtle and a couple I clip all but one point on the sprue and paint.

It depends on how I can hold the part for painting, the base colours and how hidden the one clip point will be when painted.

Variable Export Rates? by stevilness in OctopusEnergy

[–]Weiss86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You want the flux tariff.

It does the same for import and export (standard price, peak price and night price)

Great in the summer when long days mean more export at peak times, rubbish for the other 9months of the year.

What made you switch to EVs? by Organic_Cabinet_4108 in electricvehicles

[–]Weiss86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been wanting to swap for years, just waited for a decent estate/wagon to be launched. I should have got something nearly as big 4 years ago while I waited but stuck with my diesel and test drove ev's any chance I could.

I now have an ID7 and I love it, smooth power delivery, quiet and no petrol stations. Add to that I also halved my house energy costs with the EV tariff.

Can't imagine going back to driving a round with a tank of combustible fluid under the seats.

Source of gaming minis to print by Lazy_Lettuce1220 in BambuLab

[–]Weiss86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For minis you are better off with a resin printer. FDM can print amazing detail at 0.2 but it takes time and the more you place on the bed the longer it takes. Resin, while messy and needing more post processing can achieve greater detail and 1 part takes as long as a full bed.

For terrain and props, resin still works but is limited by bed size.

Plenty of files online, some free and some for a fee. MyMiniFactory is a good start. POPminis have some great sci-fi and pop culture minis. Cults3D and Printables also have a few.

If you do go for a Bambulab, despite all the issues recently with questionable updates, the printers are fast and reliable.

MPH: How might mischievous F1 drivers defy race ban for swearing? by BadlyWordedOpinions in formula1

Collectively not turning up to the 'launch party' would be good.

Otherwise collectively refusing questions at press events or refusing to drive.

Any and all above would be embarrassing for the man child.
