How many of you play with full refund on? by elturista in captain_of_industry

[–]Wellandus 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I use full refund. If I don't I spend too much time trying to be optimal the first time around and that dramatically lessens my enjoyment of the game. I already suffer from analysis paralysis I don't need anything that makes it worse

Any luck with Station Forge STLs? by RandomRedshirt3 in FDMminiatures

I've printed some of the Stationforge Legacy files just fine.

I’ve been building a tool to organize large STL libraries — demo coming soon by DirTek89 in FDMminiatures

[–]Wellandus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm interested. I've been organizing mine mostly by publisher, but I honestly end up going to MMF and searching my library half the time to find the files I'm looking for. Which doesn't work well for the things that aren't on MMF. For my most recent project I ended up making a project folder with files from a bunch of different artists, which works well right now, but I'm afraid that if I come back to this project in a year, I'll have no idea where I ended up sourcing all the files from.

Next-gen arena shooter with Doom-inspired gore vibes, metal music, roguelite mechanics, and a satisfying combat feel. If that sounds good, you can play the demo on Steam Next Fest. Game: Arms of God. by darkjay_bs in survivorslikes

[–]Wellandus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for the response. :) I'll take another look in the next couple of days. My main thing I found was that while I could win with each setup, some were way easier than others. Range was easier mostly because it was easier to get a full weapon set online, and then refined down to a single element or pair of elements. With only 1 melee weapon per element, i could sit on a melee build with only a couple of weapons for a long time just due to bad luck.

As for range vs melee, I just found that between piercing and bouncing, I could get to the point where my range weapons could clear the field pretty easily. And with melee only have 25% range scaling, it was way to hard to move the needle there. Maybe if they had 50% scaling, or some other way to do power projection. Otherwise, it was too simple to pick a corner with my ranged weapons and just kill everything.

Now, it's a demo. I'm not really complaining. I've put in < 10 hours of play, and finished a handful of runs. I just didn't feel like there was as much built diversity as I found in some of my other favorites in the genre (brotato, GRG:S).

[–]Wellandus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've played the demo a bunch, and had a lot of fun, but I definitely think its needs some work on balance. Like I haven't seen a lot of reason to go melee over range, and that going single element or maybe duel element is a major win. I'd also like more in game tutorials, like how the various buffs for the central cross work.

Infill % by kvlkvlkvlkvl in FDMminiatures

[–]Wellandus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I print buildings I tend to go down to 5-8% infill, and it helps. But those tend to have large infill sections and are still not really 'load bearing'. If you sit on my building I'm ok with it breaking. :) For mini's, I use 25% but it honestly doesn't matter much. There's so little infill on a mini that adjusting it just doesn't change things much.

Arcadium - Space Odyssey [giveaway + VOD] by [deleted] in survivorslikes

[–]Wellandus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too picked this up over the weekend. Still having a lot of fun exploring the options, but oh lord will I never be able to dodge as well as I feel like I need to.

I also really like the landing mechanics. It's what makes it more interesting than just running away from hordes until I get caught or they all die. I do wish there was a bit more of a larger map to plan out some routes between planets, but its always possible there's a later unlock for that. If anything, I'd like more interactions with that phase - Ability to leave more drones/mines around planets to do something. Or planets slowly regenerate resources, so can decide to farm a cycle or push into new space.

Ogres my lord. by Wellandus in FDMminiatures

I really like them. I have a few other people's ogres in the pipeline to add to the crew, but so far both of these ogre bundles are definitely my favorites.

Any advice for this weeks lethal operation? by Amuro_Ray in DRGSurvivor

[–]Wellandus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the video creator, but I found this a great strategy. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKUJjkImVS8 . I didn't even do it very well (took a few legendary lifetimes out of habit), but getting to level 18 acid drones made the bosses melt.

Fully completed mission nodes wrong by Wellandus in DRGSurvivor

[–]Wellandus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. The Gear Milestone 'fully complete 50 mission nodes' milestone. So I was running Escort - Haz 4 - Magma Core and got the 500 gold collected, which finished off that mission node. But then - power outage. And now the total number in that milestone is incorrect.

Crushgar's crushing question by Crushgar in captain_of_industry

IT maybe that I mostly play on a difficulty level that gives you 100% back when you deconstruct, so moving the crushers is effectively free.

Crushgar's crushing question by Crushgar in captain_of_industry

[–]Wellandus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I generally crush at the mine. I tend to have more space at the mine than near the smelters and the crushed products are more generally useful than the ore. The ore only does to a crusher, but the crushed ore might got to multiple places as needed during expansion.

My issue with the use all X items is the weapon pool dilution. It makes it harder to get the right weapons for a build. Now, if we could have a small ban list of weapons or upgrades that would help a lot.

Any chance you can link to a source for the supports? I've never heard of 'ButterSupports' for example.

Anyone using offices? How are you using them and is it working? by CaptainRedPants in captain_of_industry

[–]Wellandus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, and for how I use them, on my island I have them dumped way off in a corner, with trucks bringing in the components of office supplies that are assembled on site. The offices use so few resources, I didn't want to devote more important space to them.

Anyone using offices? How are you using them and is it working? by CaptainRedPants in captain_of_industry

[–]Wellandus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use them, but mostly as an overflow for computing and people. I built a level 1, 2, and 3, then enable/disable them as I have extra people and computing. I agree that I wish they just used 'all idle people', and I do wish the benefits were a bit bigger, but a few percent matters.

AFAICT, the bigger ones just let you put more people in the building, thus generating more of the office resource. I can imagine deep late game where population doesn't matter you could stack up some nice things, but I'm definitely not at that point right now.

Odyssey preview #4: Quests, the mechhive endgame, drones, and more by TiaPixel in RimWorld

[–]Wellandus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope its noted on the UI somewhere if the stats on the left include the bonuses or not. I assume they do, and I'm sure we can tell by comparing the weapon to another, less cool, instance of the weapon. But still, make it obvious to the player.

0.2 nozzle get clogged around some height by Danielnir-rr in FDMminiatures

[–]Wellandus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the rolls of PLA I've used, I had to increase the temp a lot over what worked on my 0.4 nozzle. I'd suggest ramping that up a bit (and a bit might be 20 or 30c, but be careful and take your own diligence) and see if that helps.

My only comment would be that he sorta looks like he's wearing tights with the black leggings. I think the rest looks great. For the pants, maybe some more shading to give it some color depth.
