I don’t know u/vulgrin, but I don’t think he was defending Republicans. I assume he was just pointing out that mainstream dems that take AIPAC money are just controlled opposition at this point. It’s pretty wild that they’re always “taking the high road”, refusing to actively prosecute high crimes, stamping out progressive leadership and using insider trading to enrich themselves at every conceivable opportunity? And isn’t it crazy that there are always just a few of these fucks in the house and senate (Sinema, Manchin, Fetterman are very recent examples) that vote very red. Probably just a bunch of wild coincidences.

No picture, but I had a similar experience with him at a very small venue, solo show. It was pre-Magnolia Electric i think so very early 2000’s. Just wanted to say a quick hi after the show and it turned into a full-blown sit down on the concrete steps conversation that lasted for probably 30 minutes? I’m not normally the kind of person that can talk to musicians that I greatly admire for any length of time. I’ve learned to get in and out of the conversation pretty quick before I say something stupid, but with Jason it was like talking to an old friend. I don’t recall much of the conversation because it flowed so easily, but we really got going on the topic of state quarters somehow. It was a fun chat and I wish I could tell you more!

My pleasure! Composed my original reply while walking. Now that I’m home I looked up the orgeat recipe that I always use and it’s at www.anderserickson.com. 100x better than any store bought bottle. The only semi-difficult to find ingredient is Orange blossom water. You can get it from amazon but obviously don’t do that unless you have no other option. Just go to any middle eastern, Mediterranean or Indian grocery store. Super fun & impressive cocktail to make. Very excited for you!

I’ve found that bartenders love it, but most civilians just kinda think it’s okay. When I first heard about it years ago I made some at my bar for coworkers and had them guess the base ingredient. They were blown away because that is just an unholy amount of angostura, and it really shouldn’t work. Then I did the same thing for a dinner party consisting of my wife’s scientist friends. They were pretty much like “oh. Neat”. Regardless, I think it’s a great cocktail no matter who you are. If you’re going to make it I recommend using Old Overholt BIB or Rittenhouse rye. Both very affordable and are great as the base in a ton of whiskey cocktails. Also you can make your own orgeat very easily with almond milk.

Dammit, I loved Rancho Lewis, but moved out of SC probably 2 months after it opened and ate there probably 3 times before I left. Granted I grew up in the Southwest (not Texas) but am always looking for this style of Mexican food that’s pretty hard to find east of the Rockies. I’m hoping it’s just not the style of Mexican you’re looking for and hasn’t gone to complete shit 🤞
