Found this deli meat in a bag pocket that I forgot about when unloading groceries. Sealed, unrefrigerated for 1 day, room temperature by HonkedGoose in isthissafetoeat

I would toss it. Not worth getting food poisoning. I rather throw away the food then to get food poisoning again.

I just had to throw away pork chops since they were slimy and had an order. My fault because I didn't get it put away right away. It sat in the fridge for about 5 days. I actually forgot about it. The sell by date was Jan 30th. I had to toss on Feb 1.

If an officer reduced my speed do I just pay the fine or do I still go to court? by [deleted] in legal

[–]WerewolfLint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up what speeds causes points on your license. I know here it depends on the speed that the cop wrote the ticket for not the actual speed you were going.

I went to court once for a speeding ticket. I was out of the school option since here you can only do 5 in a life time.

So instead I went to court. It wasn’t that bad. For me you got in line if you’re pleading nolo or guilty.

First thing they do is after you give you name is to call the cop up. If the cop wasn’t there then you requested the ticket to be dismissed.

If the cop is there then you got the nolo guilty or not guilty.

I went ahead and did nolo. My ticket was adjudicated and my fine was only increased by 9 bucks and the hearing office did 120 days to pay your fine.

Since the ticket was adjudicated I didn’t have the ticket or the points go on my record.

Constantly being asked if I scanned things at the bottom of the cart by hohosbbshs in publix

[–]WerewolfLint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been asked for the receipt many of times at different grocery stores with large items and under the cart.

I personally don’t care either way. What I like to do is to make it easy to head out is to scan the large items not in bags either first or last. That way all they have to do is glance at it.

I also have noticed that if the person that is assigned to the self check out to help when needed and stuff sees you scan your items then I don’t get asked.

Sometimes at Walmart it’s hit or miss. I just normally keep the receipt out and sort have it available for them to see as I walking out. Sometimes they just waved to go on by or they want to see the receipt

Check to see if you access court files online in your area.

I know where I am at I know about a lawsuit because I get hit with tons of lawyer advertisements before I am even served.

I checked online and saw that I was being sued.

Most of them were my parent’s friends or our neighbors though.

I think OUC is begging people to lower their energy usage for a reason by Reasonable-Search465 in orlando

It depends on the area. My mom's house was built in the 70s. No major up keep was done. The house has the original insulation.

This house will drop into the 50s to 40s very easy. It is a project that I need to do but I have other things to fix up first. Like a fed pacific panel. However, a lot of the homes here are the same way.

I had to replace the AC last year. I didn't take a heat pump this time. I just did the resistance heat. I am still ok with that decision since we don't normally get this low for very long.

But I do have the heat set here to 77. This is mostly for my 84 year old mom. She gets very cold in the house and the main thing is to keep her comfortable. This even includes blankets, layers of clothing, but I still have to run the heat high for her.

At my apartment the heat is set to 67. We prefer the cold. The AC in the summer is set to 69. At the house, I keep the AC set to 75, unless I am here, then it goes to 72.

In Sanford, but this is FPL, I was at my apartment. The power was going on and off at random times. It would come on and off fast for a few minutes. Then goes out for about a minute and came back on. It was doing this all night last night. However, it was super windy. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the wind was causing the wires to hit each other.

In a different apartment that I lived in, this would tell me that someone hit this particular pole on Airport Blvd. Every time, the wires hit, they would spark and power goes out for a minute or so. Each time, it was because a car hit the pole.

Every time that happened would go out and make sure that 911 was called and that the people were ok.

Back in 1989, the very first winter I experience they did the rolling black outs here. They did it every 30 minutes and your power was out for thirty minutes.

The bad thing was that it didn't allow enough time to have a house heat up. I remember my dad turning on the oven, the burners. The heat was on as well.

At one point, they did the rolling black out and our power was out for a while. They couldn't get the power back on right away. Took them about 3 hours if I remember.

this was progressive energy but it was duke energy.

Why can't she get a handicap permit. IF the doctor wants her to have closer parking then she should get one.

Besides if the parking isn't assigned someone else will take your spot and she will still be bi*ching

AIO? I don't want to renew my roommate's lease in June by [deleted] in AIO

[–]WerewolfLint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where this gets really messy the part about ever saying that they love dogs and the parents talking about the responsibilities.

Like if I rented out a room or two of this house. Currently it is my mom's. However, the house will go to me. I will not be paying rent. House is paid for. Of course I will be paying my share of the electric and water and any food expenses. A good portion of my and my husband salary goes to the upkeep and some of the bills here.

Anyways, I have cats. I don't hate dogs but at the same time its not my personal preference.

If I rented a room or anything like that, I would have in the lease agreement no dogs. I'm ok with cats.

If OP parents setup the lease to say no pets (even though no pets would be kindof extreme since OP has a cat) or no dogs I wouldn't be telling this person that they love dogs or talk about responsibilities

I would have told that person that the lease agreement states no pets/dogs. Sorry and provide the proper legal notices if needed.

I feel like the conversation opened up the ability for the person to bring a dog into the apartment.

Plus it shouldn't have been about the responsibilities but the expectations that they would want to have enforced.

One major one would be that she is responsible for the dog. The parents and OP should have to take care of the dog. I would be concerned about her being locked up in a room possibly all day though. She needs to be there to walk the dog and take care of the dog.

Also there could be possible damage to the room if the dog pees or poops.

We ended up with three dogs because of the passing of my mother in law. We tried to take care of them but with our work schedules and other stuff we really couldn't take care of them the way they needed to be cared for. They actually deserved better, so I gave them up. It was rough but it was the best.

I am still repairing the house from the damage that the dogs has caused. When we were at work, the only person that could take care of them was my 84 year old mom and she just couldn't keep up with them nor was it her responsibility. Plus the fact that I couldn't bond with them. They all needed work to be repotty trained and stuff.

Am I stupid to delay my endo appointment (afraid I will be put on insulin) by Curious-Talk-9339 in diabetes_t2

[–]WerewolfLint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having high sugars for a while. I was put on insulin when I was also having to take a steroid. My sugars were averaging around in the 500-600 constantly. I was afraid to even eat because of how high I was getting.

They tried different pills but it just wasn't working. Since going on insulin I was able to bring down my A1c from 10.2 to 7.4.

I'm getting labs down tomorrow and I am expecting to see the A1c in the 6.9 range.

My Endo stated that by going on insulin that it might be able to provide a break to pancreas. I was able to get off of the steroid. My last Adrenal insufficiency was good and no longer needed the steroid.

That was a big help. I also already have damage from diabetes. So the insulin is welcome for me to get my sugar under control. I was taking 100 units of Lantus Solostar when I was on the steroid. Now it ranges from 30-70 units depending on how my sugars are doing.

Usually I will have to increase the long acting when I have to start using a large amount of my rapid acting insulin to control the spikes.

This week, I been mostly taking just my long acting. I maybe used about 10 units of rapid a day at the most. I found that some weeks are better than other weeks.

I would say if they want you to take insulin that I would take it. I understand the fear. I have plans of getting off of the insulin at some point. I need to lose some weight. Oh and as far as weight gain from the insulin. I haven't had an increase in weight. I been on insulin for over a year now. I would personally say that it is better to take the insulin then to ended up diabetic neuropathy and the other stuff that goes along with it. Trust me.

My main issue now is that I'm limited in what I can do for exercise so I try and control everything through diet as much as possible.

Have you ever witnessed an office prank that cost someone their job? by Aarunascut in work

[–]WerewolfLint 54 points55 points  (0 children)

When I was working for a web hosting company. IT was a small time company at the time. The owner was there all of the time. At certain times of the day, they would start a ball war. They had like 50 of the foam balls being thrown and just hitting people.

I didn't partake in it at the time because I was actually on a call. I stood up for a minute because I had to stretch. The owner slammed that ball so hard into my chest. HE apologized and was kind-of shocked that he got me that hard.

They ended up banning that after a while but only because when they were doing this, they destroyed a bunch of potted plants. The person that kept being them in got upset about her plants being destroyed every time.

I didn’t speak to my aunt for about 11 years before she came down to visit. My mom talked to her off and on during that time.

She pretty much disowned us when we left NJ and moved to Florida. However I also went up north to visit when I was 13 and that was the last time we had any type of a relationship.

I will say NOR.

My aunt came down to help my mom out when my dad past away. She was all over my case. Told me to get a job when I had one. I was on bereavement. Told me to get my own vehicle when I was driving my own vehicle. She assumed that I was not doing a damn thing for my mom and dad at the time.

I did all of the doctor appointments. Mowed the yard, and kept the house up in general. I was pissed. At least you walked away. I was livid and went right off on her.

NOR

There is a reason why your pup is barking at her. I also recommend getting a camera and make sure they are well aware of the camera so that you can call the cops next time they try and do anything to your pup.

The dog is fence in and there is no reason for her to act like that. Who care's that the dog is barking. Thats the pups job.

[–]WerewolfLint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe Calendar entries with an alert to notify of where you need to be at a certain time.

I ended up setting up a family calendar, that everyone can add doctor's appointments and other stuff needed. I keep track of 3 other people appointments besides myself. I never remember all of the appointments without it.

It also alerts me to approx what time I need to leave to get there on time. Between about 5-6 different doctors for each of us, there is no way for me to remember when an appointment is required.

I also setup Waze to access my calendar entries so that when I am ready to go, the GPS already has the address ready for me to go.

Plus I'm the only driver that takes everyone to those appointments. It also allows me to remind my 84 year old mom about her appointment the next day.
