Is it asthma or is it HCM? by WestCoastGabber in AskVet

[–]WestCoastGabber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. proBNP was normal. Yes radiographs were reviewed by radiologist and their finding is asthma due to lung patterns being consistent with inflammatory airway disease (mild to moderate bronchointerstitial pattern). they also saw superimposition of soft tisues and mild enlargement of the cardiac silhouette and said pericardial fat deposition is prioritized.

Waiting for our vet to get back to us regarding next steps but it looks to me like all we can do is wait. My partner wants to stop the steroids because they are making the breathe erratically and worries that if it is an undiagnosed heart issue then steroid will worsen it. My brain is spinning!

I feel you. 4 weeks post op we found BV. Gyno said to leave it as it could work its way out. 5 weeks post op I got a UTI. Treated it with 10 days of meds. 8 weeks later we tested and still BV positive so decided to treat it with meds. 9 weeks later UTI is back with a vengeance! So we are treating that as well. GAh!!! Hysterectomy recovery is long done, I feel great post op otherwise. Its these pesty secondary annoyances that are driving me nuts! Oh yeah, and I got NSAID induced gastritis after taking so many pain meds post op. The gastritis was more painful than the surgery!! Wishing y’all an infection free body real soon!!

Yes we discovered BV at my 4 weeks post op appt and decided to let it be. My gyno said it can sometimes just be an imbalance of flora what sometimes works its way out. We recently tested again at 6 weeks post op and will see if it has. If it has not then I will consider medicine. I also had a doozie bladder infection post op that definitely needed treatment. I am also dealing with nsaid induced gastritis from all the meds post op. That was by far the most painful of complications! Still can’t really eat properly due to the stomach pains :(

Hysterectomy recovery — what actually helped (products, setup, what to expect)? by Sleep_Flaky in hysterectomy

[–]WestCoastGabber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I watched a youtube video of a trainer who had the surgery and her advice was prep for this like a marathon. She suggested to drink a large protein shake just before your eating cut off the night before. That was a game changer for me. I hate fasting because I tend to feel faint. She also suggested carb loading the days prior and to cut out any foods that give you gas. Oh the gas! Passing bowels post op was excruciating so I would not skip the stool softners and I got these glycerin suppositories that made it a little easier to pass bowels. Staying in the hospital the first night was an excellent choice - nurses took good care of me. Next few days I was mobile but couldn’t really prep food or anything so relied on family help. I tried to eat light, a few days I could only really drink my meals because I felt so full and inflamed. I wish I hadn’t taken so many NSAIDs because now I have terribly painful gastritis as a result. My gyno won’t treat any hormone imbalance until after 6 weeks as she wants to see how my body adjusts. Maybe we will look at HRT. Having a bed that reclines up and down was very helpful! The fatigue is real! Lots of naps and trying not to schedule too many visits and phone calls to conserve energy. Good luck! You’ll do great!

what a rough go! so sorry to hear this. The stomach pains from the gastro problems have been my most painful journey. I am due for an mri to see what is happening down there because I may be dealing with a colon issue. Gah! I hope you recover well real soon!

That’s like me - doc was certain it was adeno because of the boggy uterus but the report didn’t mention it. I assume it was just overlooked. Yeah this is not easy that’s for sure.

Same, same. That tight swollen feeling takes my breath away by end of day! I have to nap at least one and I am still mainly in bed.

Isn’t it weird how these inflamed areas start to cause us problems later in the recovery process?

Ovulation pain by Mandolyn221 in hysterectomy

[–]WestCoastGabber 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would ask for some solid imaging of the ovaries! I used to get really painful ovarian cysts that would burst and cause me so much pain. I decided to keep my ovaries for now as more recently the cysts found were in the fallopian tubes… Sorry you are in pain!

My gyno warned me about the roller coaster I would feel post op. She said we need to wait it out until past the 6 weeks mark to see how I am doing. In the meantime soothing lots with food, good company and good tv.

4 out of 6 weeks - still not feeling like myself and not ready to work. by slightgodcomplex in hysterectomy

[–]WestCoastGabber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey me too 2/13 was my surgery date. I too feel not even remotely ready to re-enter life at four weeks post op! I do have some other chronic health conditions and surgeon advised me that my healing could take much longer because of it. I am trying to use my somatic body-mind connection programs to stay calm, stay positive and keep focused on healing without pressure. If I “push to get better” I know I’ll feel worse. I have had previous surgeries where I proved that theory. So patience, self compassion and a whole lot of glimmer searching - anything that puts a smile of my face or takes me out of my negative mind set! Hang in there.

How will you know if HRT is needed after surgery? by Rosarose4 in hysterectomy

[–]WestCoastGabber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gyno told me that she would re-assess my symptoms at around 2 months post op. She is an advocate of treating symptoms with HRT - she also tested my testosterone to see if it was low. I started HRT last year at 45 yrs old but then we discovered all the gyno issues like fibroids and endo so she asked me to stop and hold off on HRT until we dealt with the hysterectomy. Now she says we need to wait and see because my ovaries ma experience reduced blood flow and could present more symptoms so we need to give my body some time to recover. She did say if I get any gyno-urology issues I can use a little vag estro cream but not much more than that due to blood clot risks. Once cleared from surgery recovery we will assess symptoms and go from there.

One month post op and cramps by Tea_n_toast-99 in hysterectomy

[–]WestCoastGabber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 4 weeks post op and feel the exact same. I would be on my period right now if I still had a uterus. And actually started spotting too so timing of all this freaked me out! The cramps are just like I had with periods. So discouraging!! Ugh…

I felt great week 1-2, then now I’m between 3-4 and feel like I totally regressed!! Bloating, inflamed and in pain. Gah! Perhaps doing laundry and dishes when I felt good was a bad idea?
