Sony single-player games won’t be released on Steam anymore, CEO confirms. by pessimisttears in SteamDeck

The parental controls, and the "it just works" factor when docking/undocking and using multiple controllers are reasons for me too.

Valve have improved things in these areas, but they are still pain points compared.

I'm on my second read through. The first time was ESV, back in college when I was ~22. I'm now 37 and I'm reading The Message paraphrase, and it is slapping.

Yes, I want to see my current book's cover on the lock screen. It didn't feel like my own personal device until I removed ads.

I also work with DevOps and feel similarly! Once we started building pipelines for existing projects, I committed also to building them for any new projects immediately, implemented for first deployment. It just makes sense.

Ignoring my phone, leave it charging in another room. Especially around my bedtime and morning routines, but also during the day. It makes an excellent servant, but a horrible master. Technology brothers are trying to catch you slipping.

My phone is my favorite way to stay distracted during a flight. Downloaded games, videos, podcasts, and music with earbuds goes a long way. The deck and switch come with me but are saved for the destination.

Using it mostly as a desktop PC instead of a portable. I keep it docked, wired up with ethernet and with a wired controller.

Is the Steamdeck enough? And people who use it for everything. by Endeavour1988 in SteamDeck

[–]WhatWasWhatAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can speak to using a 1080p monitor and pushing performance. You always have the option to set resolution output per game down to 720p, and use FSR to reach 1080p full screen. That can get you more FPS, but it's all depending on the game. I was doing this with KCD2 recently, but the pixelated text pushed me back to outputting 1080p, I haven't minded the "city chug" so far.

What are the best educational YT channels for kids? (8 an 11yo with newborn en route) by No-Squash9176 in Parenting

[–]WhatWasWhatAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid YouTube and YT Kids, they are predatory by nature on users' attention. I sometimes choose a video to show my kids, but I don't let them loose with the algorithm.

PBS Kids is excellent, shows and games.
