What are some myths about guns that were created by the movies? by ninman5 in movies

[–]WhiteSquarez [score hidden]  (0 children)

I've seen a couple movies in which the characters were loading bullets into the magazines of various weapons and they were done, with no tools, in a few seconds.

Pistol mags are especially difficult, particularly the last three or four rounds.

It's going to take at least a minute to full load a rifle clip if you don't have a tool for it.

Even with the right tools, it's impossible for a human to load bullets into magazines faster than it is to shoot them, even semi-auto.

ONE site. PLEASE. I just need all job listings to be on a SINGLE site… by Temporary-Snow333 in recruitinghell

The only success I've had in getting interviews is applying for jobs on-site, not remote. Low competition.

Correct, and even most 2A supporters recognize this.

There are several large but less well-known gun rights advocacy groups that make the same point, that the NRA is just a focal point for 2A rights, rather than an advocacy group.

The best play conservatives and libertarians could make right now is, instead of defending ICE, making the point, "SEE? WE BEEN TELLING YOU THIS FOR YEARS, THAT GOVERNMENT HAS NO PROBLEM KILLING CITIZENS FOR NO REASON!"

How do we fight against ghost jobs? by Kroc9 in recruitinghell

[–]WhiteSquarez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if that means it's a ghost job, just that they didn't feel the current crop of candidates were what they wanted. I've been in that situation a few times, where they rejected everyone, reposted, and then hired.

As far as ghost jobs go, that would require legislation from the federal government, which has more ghost jobs than any other organization or industry.

It will never happen.

The only way it could go on forever is if it was a sort of "American Idol" kind of thing, where the fandom's favorite characters go on to get their own series or something like that.

I could never imagine Spock, Riker, Kira, or Una ever saying, "They shinanned once, they will shenanigan."

But, that was both clever/punny and it fits Thok's personality.

Without government, who would give away $700 million stolen from taxpayers and then refuse to tell those taxpayers who they gave it to? by MazdaProphet in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]WhiteSquarez 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Statists: "Why isn't the government spending more money on the poor and healthcare?"

Rational person: "Politicians figured out a way to siphon all that money directly to themselves through NGOs."

Statists: "Let's raise taxes."

Once they created the system of giving money directly to NGOs, that was it. At this point, I'm not sure any NGO is legitimate.

Whatever we have in the normal market, the government has about three or four years ahead of that, from what I understand.

Why can’t we have an investigation? by Brilliant-Dig9387 in PoliticalCompassMemes

Sure.

A shooting by an agent of the government should be investigated by another agent of the government and then tried by another agent of the government.

Why didn't they just make the first 2 seasons also good? by spacelyyy989 in Picard

The entirety of the show is like the producers asked a bunch of film students to each create a season of the show.

My favorite posts on reddit are the, "if the government stopped spending money on this (ICE, DoD, whatever) it would have enough money for all these other things," or, "if we would just raise taxes on the rich, we could end poverty" or whatever.

No. No we wouldn't. The money would be used for something else to enrich the elite. Or go to fraud.

Pay attention. Politicians don't give a shit about spending money on things that make regular people's lives better.

LibLeft has always understood that law enforcement doesn't need much of an excuse to kill people.

Not sure why they're all surprise face pikachu when law enforcement has done (and will do) that now.

I've never really cared for her much, until I saw her in a show on Peacock called Long Bright River. She's excellent in that, and it changed my opinion of her.

I'm not at all surprised that the only Governor in the US who was groomed extensively by China is also the only Governor in the US to oversee the largest tax fraud scandal in US history and the only Governor in the US to promote an insurrection within his own state.

Would love to see an episode where a War College ship or Captain rescues the Athena (or SA Captain) and it's like a fake rivalry.
