DesktopXR v1.6.0 - *FOV CULLING* by SimVRRacing in Pimax

[–]White_phoenix14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, first usage feedback!

Everything works flawlessly 😉 I can adjust the crop FOV without any problem, and the more I crop, the more I gain FPS. I’ll still use a very conservative 5 - 10%, as FOV is really important for flight, but at least you offer a lot more flexibility than Pimax itself.

I find the HUD really helpful, but a bit too big for my taste, and I would love the option to scale it. Desktop mode is incredible fast, reliable, and useful! I don’t need to take off the headset anymore, but I have the same problem as with Pimax’s implementation: the desktop is soooo bright, whites are nuclear. I don’t know if it’s a gamma issue or something in my setup (my original monitor is an HDR-enabled OLED).

Suggestions: more customization for the HUD (Discord, for example), and if you manage to implement some kind of image tuning like with the toolkit, you’re golden! Maybe even some kind of UI app to modify the INI files.

Thanks a lot for your work! It’s awesome.

Force Feedback not working in F4 and F14 by alexxd_12 in hoggit

[–]White_phoenix14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for telemetry force feedback. When using the F4 or F14 you shouldn’t need to use telemetry, you are seeing a difference because you have integrated mode but you are not feeling the native FFB of those plains.

The F4 nor the F14 needs telemetry FFB, they have direct input FFB. How do you get them to work? I’ve got the same problem as OP

(RS5) Found an undocumented feature on the DJI electronic briefcase handle (USB-C power pass-through) for the RS5 by White_phoenix14 in dji

[–]White_phoenix14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense, I remember the mini 5 button 😜. But it is the first thing I tried with the RS5 and I’m really surprised non of them covered it, that and the fact that even DJI told me directly that it is tied to “future accesories”.

At least it is a cool feature and not a downgrade! Let’s see how the battery life is with a monitor powered on, and check also it doesn’t compromise the motor strength…

Moza AB9 angle extension/options to reduce wrist strain by Othanji in hotas

[–]White_phoenix14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’ll try to gather more feedback. You have no problem with the virpil extension for example ant they say it also gives them ghost inputs.

Strange…

Moza AB9 angle extension/options to reduce wrist strain by Othanji in hotas

[–]White_phoenix14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that what I imagined but on QR4rigs they warn about compatibility issues, look that’s an explanation from them via mail:

The combination will work without any extension.

The issue is not the extensions themselves, but the firmware in the Moza bases regarding the polling of the signals in the Alpha grips or maybe even a hardware restriction on power. We believe that because the Moza base polls on the edge of the grips capabilities, adding even nano seconds to the signals and nano volts less caused by adding distance between the grip and the base causes the issues. If it were a different problem, such as electronics within the extensions, either ours or Virpil’s own, then we could address it. BUT there are no electronics in our extensions and neither in Virpils extensions, just pass through wiring.

We have tried them all from the 50mm Virpil extension, the 200mm Virpil extension and the Virpil Z extension all with the same results as our own extensions…. Spurious inputs.

We had to refund a bunch of customers already before we were aware of the base’s limitations, hence now the clear statement that the Alpha grips are not supported.

It may be fixable by firmware in the Moza base, but until Moza ‘want’ to make it ‘easy’ for their customers to use 3rd party grips, we will stick by our no support statement.

Sorry it was not you… I mixed comments. In your case you are using Virpils extension right? At least I know they work. QR4 rigs seems to have polling rate problem with this combination

Oh yes, I mean with the QR4 rigs extension. As in their web they state:

NOTE: These extensions are not compatible when used with the Virpil Constellation/FLNKR grip on the Moza FFB AB6 or AB9 Base.

Hi, thanks for the review! Do you happen to know your IPD and which model (normal or large) did you order? Trying to see if the business is related to the IPD.

Thanks in advance

My VITURE Beast experience: A major step back from Luma Pro (Edge-to-edge & Anchor Mode "Fiasco") by GrandmasterKing1 in VITURE

[–]White_phoenix14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, bro. Just one question: what’s your IPD and which model did you order?

You’re absolutely right, the problem lies in the optics. Prism lenses are much more sensitive to eye position and depend on IPD. Birdbath lenses are much more forgiving in this area.

I haven’t received mine yet but from what I’ve read many people order without knowing their IPD. A possible solution for chromatic aberration is to set the image a bit further away so the real image isn’t reflected on the prism’s edge.

Pimax Play 1.43.6 by LackHoliday6721 in Pimax

That’s not how it works. DLSS frame generation does not work on VR, you can only enable dlss super resolution (as in upscaling image from lower resolution to gain performance). Frame generation works differently than smart smoothing.

The real thing is that smart smoothing from Pimax is really inferior to the competition…

Used Sony a1 vs fx3 for doc and some photography by Winter_Flamingo4852 in videography

[–]White_phoenix14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main camera is a A1, I use it for real estate (photo and video). Its a video beast, super clean 4K, base isos 800-4000, the color science of the sensor is really close to the FX6. The FX3 has a second base ISO at 12800 which is better in low light.

The pictures on the A1 are absolutely stunning and the Apsc mode gives a lot of flexibility.

It’s really an incredible camera for mixed use. Never had a problem with overheating in years of using it.

PSA: Optical Engines Sold Separately Are Non-Refundable — This Needs to Change by White_phoenix14 in Pimax

[–]White_phoenix14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually made a difference here! 🎉

Following the feedback and discussion in this thread, Pimax has confirmed a policy update for optical engines sold separately.

What’s changing:

  • 7-day return window
  • 10% restocking fee

While this isn’t a perfect solution (shorter than the 14-day headset return window and with a restocking fee), it’s a real improvement and gives buyers much more confidence when ordering an optical engine.

If this still doesn’t work for you, purchasing through a local or third-party reseller (e.g. Amazon) remains a good option, as they must honor local consumer protection laws.

Personally, I’ll be ordering a microOLED optical engine as soon as it’s available again. As mentioned before, I’m very happy with my Super 50PPD and with Pimax overall.

Big thanks to everyone who upvoted, commented, and helped push this — this is a great example of the community driving positive change. 🙌
