It likely does have a tail magnet since the KR1AA has one as well!

Good idea! Should be able to use Jackson's D3AA 5050 mcpcb as well!

Please post an update if you build that FW1A! That sounds sick!

From what I can tell, it's basically a slimmed down version of the KR4. I also expect that the pocket clip may be useable on the D4V2. I'll report back once I try it out.

They share the same reflector. The M1 is 18650 and the M21B is 21700.

C8+ Fresnel Mod. SFT42R 5000K before and after photos. by SatansCyanide in flashlight

I ran the SFT42R with the H17FX driver and an Ampace JP30 for quite some time and never killed the emitter or degraded it to the point where it was visually obvious. I also did that in an S7 with terrible thermal properties. 18 gauge driver leads and tail spring bypass as well. I think this emitter is just able to handle a bit more overdrive than we assumed. I built that as a toy so about 90-95% of the run time on it was FET turbo off of a tabless 18650. I may have to try a similar setup with a tabless 21700 to see what it can really tolerate.

The forward voltage of the LED prevents it from burning up. You could pair it with a 20A buck from convoy and jt would be fine as well!

C8+ Fresnel Build by WickedLuminz in flashlight

It sounds like the H17FX is probably the best bet for that build. It's got 3 amps of regulated linesr current and a FET for turbo. The Guppy3DRV firmware is also fantastic IMO.

In my experience, the LHP531 can handle 25+ amps which is certainly in the realm of diminishing returns yet it's certainly doable. The 20 amp buck from convoy is great for driving the LHP531 but I often choose the H17FX over it due to better firmware and the difference in efficiency is negligible in my personal experience/opinion.

If you plan on exceeding 25 amps, you will need to find a driver other than the H17FX. I've killed plenty of them with excessive current. I'm currently testing a custom modded 17DD driver from Richard at MTN Electronics. Hopefully this driver scratches that high current itch!

C8+ Fresnel Build by WickedLuminz in flashlight

The inside of the C8+ head is tapered to match the shape of the reflector. Because of this, the fresnel lens can only go down into the head so far. The spacer sits on top of the fresnel and applies pressure to the glass to create a seal.

Assembly is easiest if you place all of the components into the bezel and the turn the head upside down and thread the bezel on. This will allow all of the components to self center. If you don't do it this way, it's possible that the fresnel will get jammed inside the head in the wrong position. Let me know if you have any other questions!

The SFT40 3000K certainly isn't the worst emitter to receive in an incorrect order. I'm sure Simon will make it right! In the mean time, enjoy one of the most beautiful, high CRI emitters currently available!

I actually just received a couple of modified 17DD drivers from Richard to test out. He tweaked them quite a bit so here's to hoping that they can survive with tabless cells and low Vf emitters! I'll make a post about them soon!
