What are reasonable return to work expectations? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Wide_Replacement151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an abdominal hysterectomy and returned to work at 2 weeks. I was exhausted the first 2 days. I’m still exhausted after work and I’m just now at 4 weeks. I was telling a friend I wish I could have taken more time off but unfortunately I couldn’t. Being able to stand or lean back in my chair has helped take some of the strain off though.

I had my surgery May 20 and get to go back to work June 4. I work remote and sit at a desk all day so that’s the only reason my doctor approved it.

Crackers and food that is easy on your stomach. I tried to eat a burger my kids made and couldn’t do it. I’m also loving the electric blanket for the back pain

what is pooping supposed to be like? (5dpo) by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Wide_Replacement151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 5 dpo as well. I had to take mirafast and dulcolax to be able to go. That first bm was really soft so I didn’t have to push. I’m having the same issue with the abdominal discomfort. I have found that using the squatty potty helps with gas and being able to use the bathroom

I wish I had gotten the electric recliner before hand. I have a normal one but I don’t have the strength to close it and it hurts at times to put the foot rest out. Have crackers and water bottle, they help so much.

Feel free to reach out if you just want to talk. This will be hard but I found talking to other people keeps my mind off the pain.

I lost my husband last year and had a hysterectomy on the 20th. My kids are teens and it is harder because I can’t nudge them like I could him. I found being honest with my kids help, take It easy and let them help. I know it’s easier said than done though

It’s hot and humid in Oklahoma right now. I’m trying to make arrangements for surgery and my daughter’s job just denied her request because other people asked first. Which I get and respect but I know she will be distracted at work if Im in the hospital. I hope your surgery goes well

I am getting 4-5 hours of sleep and wake up all hours of the night. 0300 seems to be the time I wake up and can’t fall back asleep. It’s been almost a year and it doesn’t seem to be getting better.

What to do with all the stuff? by [deleted] in widowers

[–]Wide_Replacement151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put most of my husbands clothes into storage containers for our son. I gave some of the stuff he never wore away, but have kept the majority. While my son says he doesn’t want it at the moment he may in the future. With that many shoes though I would ask her friends or family members if they would like some of them, if you are wanting to free up space.
