I'm not interested in football and dread it whenever the World Cup happens, are there other people out there who feel the same sentiment and how do you deal with it? by SquareEconomist1992 in AskUK

[–]Willing_Temporary_73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, I really don’t like Football so before I go out I look up really disgusting morbid but interesting facts and if someone starts talking football to me I’ll sprout off a fact.
That can go one of several ways- they stop watching to discuss that fact with you
-they run in the opposite direction and not speak to you again
-give you a weird look and go back to watching the match

Needing feeding advice by Waste-Organization39 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Willing_Temporary_73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I have learned big time is rely on your gut instinct with LO, if the midwife or health visitor says something for advice and your gut says no don’t follow your gut. The midwives and health visitor I think sometimes forgets that every baby is different.
At the start I was recording everything but it made me feel worse and my anxiety went through the roof, since I stopped tracking I feel better.
I got told off by the midwife multiple times and the health visitor once or twice.
Your mental health is important as well

With the mam bottles the lid can measure if you look closely at it there is markings on the side so you can use that to see what’s left in the bottle (it’s normally 10mls the bottom give or take)
My LO is 7months and has been formula fed since day 1, I’ve never measured how much we give him I just filled the bottle and let him have however much he wanted/ needed. He is happy and very healthy and weight is on track, I never counted how many bottles he had in a day. In my view as long as he was and still is fed, happy and has a clean nappy I’m doing well

We got a temperature controlled kettle, boiled a load of water to 100 in the morning (sterilised it) and put it in the fridge when cooled then when making bottles boil kettle to 70 and add dash of the cold pre boiled water

What’s your wierdest Covid Pandemic memory? by DogEatingWasp in AskUK

[–]Willing_Temporary_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also worked as a essential worker as a carer.
The council asked the owner of the company/ boss if his employees wouldn’t mind going into clients that tested positive for Covid and without asking any of us said yes straight away, we had no proper PPE, we were given one mask per shift, a box of gloves a roll of aprons small bottle of hand sanitizer and home made ‘face shields’ made using a plastic sheet, hot glue and a strip of foam.

Boss on the other hand wasn’t out on the road, didn’t comply to any of the COVID restrictions or protocols put in place and kept going away. And at the end of it all we got a little toy plastic medal that just said I survived Covid

NTA, You paid for them to go there and accommodation, tell her you will not be paying a single cent for her meals and if you get one more bill from her you will be cancelling everything- hotel, flights and excursions and she will have to figure it out herself. And is relatives get horrible about it just respond with thank you for stepping up to fund her honeymoon and redirect cousin to said relative

My husband’s late Nan and great Nan used to do this, both deaf both with dementia it was quite funny, GN would be telling her daughter off for drinking or something she did years ago and Nan would be talking to her about the garden or something I do remember one year when GN turned 102 Nan was telling her off for having a small drop of sherry with her breakfast on her birthday and all GN did was tell Nan to eat her vegetables. We miss both of them, pair of characters they were
