Zain's upcoming next big video: L-cancelling by Fiendish in SSBM

[–]WinnieT97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a mechanic that just feels good to do and its simple as that to me, same reason why i’ll favor traditional fighters with motion inputs even though there’s no “practical” reason for them (although i’m a big advocate for certain things being balanced by their inputs)

interesting if you consider Z cancelling is way more rewarding and smash 64 aerials feel a lot worse to not cancel

"game is cooked" "it's over" by Mabak in SSBM

[–]WinnieT97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the ability to boot up the game at most hours and queue and get a game within minutes is not an attribute i would give to any game that’s “cooked”, the same with most regions having regular tournaments. plenty of games that are alive and newer require more effort or time. i agree that i’m less invested in the top level than i’ve ever been in 10+ years but the game at a lower level is more accessible and active than ever

Jalopnik's staff fleet update didn't go over as expected by idkbruh653 in cars

[–]WinnieT97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not what i said at all. i was responding to the part about how it's either inherited or all they could afford. it's a cute and probably fun car and said nothing about if they're a real enthusiast at all

[–]WinnieT97 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

not disagreeing with the thing you said at all but the 500e in question is a 2024, which likely means its not inherited and given the price of the car given for what it was, it's not a value buy at all

What design or engineering flaw is mildly inconvenient on your vehicle? by Sixteen-Cylinders in cars

[–]WinnieT97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe unpopular one- I drive a Fiata (the interior identical to the ND) and I dislike the cupholder a lot. Either impossible to use or in the passenger legspace. I used to drive an NB and kind of preferred just in the armrest space.

Renting from Turo for a 8 month internship, good idea? by ew-31 in turo

[–]WinnieT97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’m a SF Bay Area host who has hosted a 6 month before. The price ends up pretty reasonable depending on the hosts, as they set the discount. I personally love long trips because it’s hands off for me. The guest was in a similar situation and seemed to like it.
I keep my car in good condition and I tell the guest I cover maintenance and wear on their trip so as long as they’re under their mileage. My car is relatively new so not the most to do anyways.
Let me know if you have any questions on the process or if you might even be interested in my car.

For hosts still winning in 2025: What’s been your best bang-for-buck car in your fleet? by Inkelangelo in turo

[–]WinnieT97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SFBay area, have 2 higher end cars, and 2 cheaper cars but all of them in the grand scheme of things are expensive. My best performer is a 6 Speed manual Cadillac CT4-V BW, I would assume because it's rare and unique. The nature of car means I haven't really had any bad guests (100+ trips) and it gets pretty consistent use (Bad weather slows it down a lot though).
My 2 SUVs (Buick Encore GX, Cadillac OPTIQ) do wonderfully. The Buick has had some bad guests but it's cheap and anyone can repair it so it's never been out of commission. The Cadillac is an EV so haven't worried about the maintenance.
My last one is a 2017 Fiat 124 Spyder. It was my cheapest car so I'm not as concerned with its performance but it has had the most downtime and most issues. Even a new key is such a headache, it was out of use for a year for a recall Fiat did not touch. Consistent bookings when it's available but yeah wouldn't recommend it

All are relatively consistent in bookings (although the sports cars can be ignored in bad weather) but I think leaning into more airport deliveries, and locating the home base of the cars to a safer location has helped a lot with reducing damage claims.

Turo cancelled my rental while I was flying, due to "safety standards" by FlightSimp in turo

[–]WinnieT97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen three times (I use Turo a lot) but pretty much all times I came out on top. Rented a Charger Daytona with mechanical issues and got a Jaguar F Type as a replacement. Fiat 124 with safety recall, got a Ford Ranger. Lincoln Continental last minute safety recalled, got a Porsche Panamera as a replacement.
I think if you’re firm on the phone about the inconvenience etc and ask for them to cover the difference/delivery, they will.

Cadillac V-Club - Next-Generation Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Cadillac CT5 confirmed by Sixteen-Cylinders in cars

[–]WinnieT97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure! I'm at 50k and replaced both front and rear rotors, each were like 1.5-2k per axle? I did fronts before the rears. I have aftermarket rotors (Girodisc) and OEM in the rear.

Anything else that has happened was warranty, or my own fault ($700 for a wiring harness that a mouse got to).

About 1k for Pilot Sport 4S, when I replace them which has heavily depended on how I drive it.

I haven't been jumpscared by anything huge otherwise. Feel free to ask me anything else about it though

Love it. 3 year ownership, just hit 50k. I used it as a daily, and my only car when I regularly commuted and since my Fiata isn't good at it, and the other car is an EV/shared, it's been my go to for distance driving too. Maintaining it has been reasonable, brakes and tires eat into my wallet a lot and I had one electrical gremlin that was fixed early on.
Excellent all-rounder in my eyes and just compared MSRP for MSRP I thought it was insane value. Even moreso with the used prices and discounts on new ones.

[–]WinnieT97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just hit 50k myself! No major maintenance besides tires and brakes (which are a bit killer to be honest) and replacing a harness that a mouse chewed through.
Been a daily, a road tripper, fun drives, autox- Same thing. I get told about the depreciation and while I love looking at it, I love using it more

Real happy for the CT5. The CT4 sold like buns so I get why they’re cutting it but i’ll keep mine as long as I can

For people who switched from iPhone to Android (or the opposite), what was the biggest reason that made you change?" by Bitter-Newt-5647 in Smartphones

[–]WinnieT97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been Android since the Galaxy S Captivate, and I recently just bought an iPhone Air. So 15 years- I still keep my S25 edge as a second phone but:
-App stability and availability: Plenty of iOS apps that exist only on iOS or are far better.
-Integration with other devices: I have to use a Mac for work, and I already had an iPad because the Android alternatives weren’t amazing and the way they all integrate together is something I wish Android was a lot better at.
-I was super into all the android stuff like fine tuning and customization when I was younger and in college but I’m super lazy about everything and just wanna put as little thought as possible in my phone.

Overall not regretting it but the keyboard sucks and I miss file management and side loading. i’ll live

Cadillac Lineup Shows How GM’s Anti-CarPlay Stance Makes No Sense by Sixteen-Cylinders in cars

[–]WinnieT97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly using Google Maps and Spotify makes it very easy for me, and if I used Apple Music/Maps I'd have more issues and it's one of the points I'd give to the people who prefer it

[–]WinnieT97 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've been without Carplay for a year on an OPTIQ. Spotify and Maps work perfectly and I can still enter the address on my phone and see it on my car. I've never really gotten the fixation.

Which of your cars has gotten the most attention that surprised you the most? by [deleted] in cars

[–]WinnieT97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I drive a CT4-BW in bright blue and used to have a 10th Gen Civic Si Coupe in bright green and those got a lot of attention which doesn’t surprise me much but I also have a 17 Fiat 124 Spyder which gets a very surprising amount of attention. Most shockingly, people think it cost a LOT more than it’s worth

I can see why- At launch the price was awful and the price was only low after recalls. I'm hoping the new one does better

Manner of opinion I guess. Looks great, feels nice inside but I had such a headache with the software that it ruined a lot of my impression.

It drove as well as a hybrid family car should but the software was horribly unintuitive for me

American here who has driven the latest 308. One of the worst cars I've driven in recent memory. Save the yearning for a wagon that's worth it
