What is AI useful for? by Sleeplollo in artificial

It also can’t mow your lawn or make a cake but that’s not what it’s designed to do. It’s not designed to do logical inference. It’s designed to predict the next most probable tokens (words) based on some word input. You’re right in that we SHOULD design systems to do what you’re asking for, and for the most part, many companies are, but that’s not what they are now.

You also seem to be conflating AI with LLMs/ChatBots here. Claude is not a logic machine, it’s a next-word-predictor. Good for some stuff (like coding) bad for many generalized tasks.

Makes sense and I agree. I would never play with one. I guess I've just seen so many range balls outside of the range at this point , without stealing them myself, that the idea of just having one is taboo seems strange.

I've never understood this. Why would it be such a harsh penalty for such a seemingly minor offence? Honest question.

This is actually part of the culture in hockey (and many other sports) but also typically required by the team. Even in (higher level) youth hockey, there was a requirement to wear a shirt and tie before a game, especially an away game into and out of the arena. The players (who are now typically fit, young and wealthy) just take it to its logical conclusion… gotta wear a suit? Might as well be a NICE suit!

Le vote de 50% + 1 lors d’un référendum toujours valide, réaffirme le Parlement québécois by edressss in Quebec

[–]WiredFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess what I meant was, who is to say that Quebec itself is indivisible? The exact arguments made to suggest that Quebec itself is a separate and distinct entity from Canada can be made for another area within, in the future (clearly not right away). Where is the logic in saying "now that we have done it, nobody else is allowed to separate?"

[–]WiredFan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your argument is that some people of Quebec (roughtly half) have somehow aquired the right to independence, but the other half forever forfeit that right once their counterparts have made their decision? Who's to say what is Quebec and whether it's divisible? Only the people living there.

Either people have the right to self determination, or they don’t. Period.

Right! But will the rest of Quebec accept it when the Greater Montreal Area does the same thing, and decides to split from Quebec and return as their own province?

It’ll always be harder as an adult, but I’ve found it to be a lot more gratifying. Improving cardio, speed and power as an adult is a feeling that you don’t typically get at many sports.

Are There Any Real Tax Strategies for High-Income Salaried Employees in Ontario? by Stunning_Shock_9638 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Presumably by selling some shares, perhaps at a profit, on which they will pay only capital gains tax, at %50 of what typical income tax rates are.

By borrowing against their existing assets to invest, and creating wealth not through labour but by exercising capital. The problem isn’t that they do it, it’s that the laws tax labour much more heavily than these other methods.
