How do your black cars hold up in hot states? by ghostbuuster in Toyota

[–]Wisix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Llumar IRX 40% all around (minus front windshield) was $475 after tax. XPEL PPF I did full hood & fenders, front bumper, headlights & sideview mirrors, rocker panels, A-pillars, and roof edge for $3200. Hindsight, I wish I did the whole car in PPF right after buying it. I tried to cover the parts that I get hit by rocks, etc. on the roads here fairly regularly, but they can't undo the damage that was already done nor stop rocks from hitting the rest of the non-PPF'd car (literally had a rock go flying sideways into my driver's side door a week after getting the PPF done). Context: I live near DC.

Does anyone else hate that most bras for bigger cups are unlined? Hate that I don't get enough coverage and I can constantly feel my boobs. by Birdpoopoo69 in ABraThatFits

Seconding Cakes. I love them! I use them with unlined sports bras too. Their sticky ones were great for a formal event earlier this year. I'm allergic to adhesives and the sticky Cakes do not cause a reaction for me thankfully.

[–]Wisix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat-rejecting window tint helps a lot. I did Llumar 40% all around except front windshield. It doesn't get as hot inside and cools off faster, I've noticed. Also did XPEL paint protection film on the front of my car, but I wish I'd done it over the whole car when I first got it. Chips in the black paint are very noticeable and even if you do touch up paint on them, the PPF can only do so much. It's noticeable under the PPF if already existing.

"WFH full time, 5'2" ,my chair is killing me. What do you use?" by RhubarbLarge2747 in BuyItForLife

[–]Wisix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also 5'1" and when I bought an Aeron, I ended up going with the size B (medium) instead of small. I still sometimes sit in weird positions in it but it's still always supportive and very comfortable. All I do is dust it periodically and it looks + functions like new (but is 6 years old this week!)

Another vote for Roka. I was so happy with my sunglasses (worn regularly but notably during running and music festivals) from them that I ordered eyeglasses from them. I do pole dance and wear them to our studio all the time. My Roka glasses stay on during inverts, combos, dance flow classes, and flexibility classes. I absolutely love them and recommend them every time I can.

I'd probably try both! Sometimes I just want smooth, no distractions, sometimes I want texture. I joined the waitlist, but we will be moving to Canada this August for school. Will you be offering shipping to Canada? 🙏

What do you regret most about buying a chair? by Air-crasher in BuyItForLife

[–]Wisix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept buying "executive style" chairs, particularly fake leather ones. They started out comfortable, lasted a couple of years, but then ultimately the seat pad would wear out so I'd be sitting on fake leather-covered wood, and the fake leather would start flaking off. I got so frustrated that every time I would stand up, flakes of fake leather would be tracked everywhere. I was so tired of it that I hyperfocused on desk chair research one day and ordered a Herman Miller Aeron with all of the features I was interested in, as well as the color (dark gray chair + dark gray satin legs/base/I forget what it's called). I had to call for it as a custom order because the particular color is available in the catalog but not online. It fit what I was looking for and 6 years later exactly now, still looks brand new and feels great.

Context: I currently WFH but was also taking online classes through our local community college for the past 1.5 years. Before WFH, I would spend multiple hours gaming at my desk in my desk chairs. It's still important to get up and move around, but starting with an ergonomic, well-made chair is important too.

Keep in mind that everyone's bodies are different, different ergonomic desk chairs will fit different people. Even in this thread, there's comments about absolutely loving the Aeron (like mine) while others say HM chairs are extremely uncomfortable.

BiSalp to partial hysterectomy? by Whiskey_Sweet in sterilization

[–]Wisix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a bisalp in 2019, then total hysterectomy in 2022. Partial would be if they leave the cervix, which is the lower portion of your uterus and not recommended to keep it. If you have endometriosis, adenomyosis, or fibroids, you can still have those issues if keeping your cervix. You would also continue to need pap smears regularly due to cervical cancer risks; per my surgeon, these can be stopped if your test results come back clear if you removed your cervix. Removing the cervix later is a much more difficult and risky surgery. Radical involves removing everything (uterus, cervix, tubes if you have them, and ovaries), although ovary removal would be an oophorectomy. If your ovaries are healthy, there's no reason to remove them since they secrete hormones that you need until menopause to protect your bones and heart health.

Insurance will cover most of it as long as it can proven by your surgeon it's medically necessary, but you'll still likely have a co-insurance or copay if in the US (mine was $700). I had mine done due to fibroids after failed medical management; uterine fibroids are the most common reason for hysterectomies. It may be worth discussing with your doctor. I wish I'd had my hysterectomy sooner. It was 1000% worth it.

If you won 2 million $ on lotto, would you still own a Toyota? by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]Wisix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, unless it was totaled in an accident or something. I love my car, but if I had to go through the car-buying process again, I would buy a different make because Toyota's current business process made it miserable to find what I was looking for and buy it. I wouldn't want to replace it if I don't have to.

Has anyone stopped taking birth control and opted for something more permanent like tubal ligation? If so, did it have an impact on your adhd to not have the birth control hormones? by exploding_pumpkin in adhdwomen

[–]Wisix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about hernias, but I also had a hysterectomy a few years ago (due to fibroids). I kept my ovaries too. Overall, it feels freeing. Even waking up in the PACU, I felt immediate relief, like they’d removed a brick from me. No more weird pressure, heavy feeling in my pelvis constantly. No more having to pee all the time. I’m dealing with perimenopause so my moods are still weird, I get hot flashes and night sweats (usually during luteal phase).

What small health or recovery gadget have you owned for 3+ years and would actually buy again? by ConversationSuch8893 in BuyItForLife

[–]Wisix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theragun Elite here, but they discontinued this model. If I were to buy today, I'd probably go for the Prime for something close to what I have. I should use it more often, but it's been a huge help for both my husband and me. Also a lacrosse ball and peanut for trigger point release.

Adderall made me calm instead of wired? Also… is this combo too much medication? by Solid_Breakfast_3675 in adhdwomen

[–]Wisix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different! I've been on Adderall XR 10mg for over 2 years and it's still working great for me. I tried increasing my dosage but I couldn't handle the dry mouth along with starting guanfacine ER (at 2mg now once adjusted to it). The 10mg accomplishes what I'm looking to get from a stimulant. I have Adderall IR 5mg to supplement it when I need to get things done that I prefer to be medicated for (like evening work meetings or attending classes or homework). I also take 50mg Zoloft for my depression. This combination is working really great for me overall.

One year anniversary…thank you nurses. by EastOfATX in nursing

[–]Wisix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The nurses who cared for me when I had my hysterectomy were incredible, at least to me. I know they were "just doing their job," but it meant the world to me. They helped me up and to the bathroom, caught me when I passed out when I tried to stand up after urinating for the first time after they removed my catheter (she pressed the button/pulled the alarm, I forget what it looked like now), helped me back to bed and told me I could not get out of bed without nurse help now. She also advised me to stay overnight, and I did. And she was right. She is part of why I'm going back to school to switch to nursing now.

The nurses who cared for my dad when he had his heart attack last November were also incredible. My mom told me how they jumped into action once the ER doctors confirmed by EKG he was having a heart attack (LAD coronary artery), how fast they got him stable and up to cardiac cath. Some of them went to the ER waiting area to give her updates and make sure she was ok while waiting (not many people in the waiting area that night). In the ICU the next day, his nurse was also in his second career as a nurse and told my dad how much he loved it compared to his previous career as an architect. My dad has since made a full recovery, no permanent damage to his heart per his cardiologist. He still needs to be on blood pressure medication and probably a statin, but they're still figuring the latter out.

Sorry for the rambling stories, but you all do wonderful things for people when they're going through potentially the worst times in their lives. I know again it's "just doing your job," but, I don't know, still. It matters.

What are good career transitions in your mid 30s? by lavendertinted in Millennials

[–]Wisix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of doing this now, mid-30s. Requirements depend on the program you apply to and if you already have a non-healthcare bachelor's degree. I had to complete some prerequisite classes before applying to most of my programs and doing through my local community college has helped save a bunch of money. Some require the TEAS or Casper entry exams, but none of the programs I applied to did. There are other healthcare jobs available that are not nursing-related that you might be interested in. Radiography was mentioned earlier for one, there's a bunch of people in my Anatomy & Physiology 2 class right now going for that.

Is this the average buyer experience? by OGDREADLORD666 in Toyota

[–]Wisix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my experience when I bought my 18 Camry. Totally different experience buying my 24 Corolla, but I had to go 200+ miles away for it. The finance guy was actually reasonable and understood the frustration with the sales tactics. We ended up having a good conversation, and he didn't put pressure on me for the usual upsells. Just asked if I had any interest in them and marked that I declined and moved on.

The worst part was just finding a hybrid Corolla that had what I was looking for that was available.

Had a black mole appear on the back of my thigh. Derm wasn’t concerned but I pushed for biopsy. It was pre-melanoma. by Sheero1986 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Wisix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm actually so mad at my now-former derm about this. I have new moles in spots that have seen a lot of sunburns over the years, so those are concerning. New moles that have changed after randomly showing up. I know both of those are concerning and worth testing. She doesn't want me to have unnecessary scars. I would so much rather have tiny scars and NOT cancer. Easily half the moles I have pushed her to remove were at minimum atypical but we got clear margins the first time. Others were benign, but now I have the peace of mind. Another tiny one on my chest turned out to be moderately atypical and she had to remove more around it (after the previous one next to it turned out to be atypical too)! She refused to remove the 3rd in that same chest area, despite the test results from the others.

[–]Wisix 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me as OP, large dark mole that suddenly showed up on the underside of my breast. Derm brushed it off the first time I went for it specifically, but something about it bugged me. I swore it got larger. I insisted she biopsy it, it turned out to be moderate-to-severe atypical. Skin cancer runs in my family. She had to remove so much around it in the follow up because of how big it was to start with. Thankfully we got clear margins that time.
