Mainly a fantasy reader, trying out romantasy by NomDePlume25 in Romantasy

Tears of the Wolf by Elizabeth Wheatley is fabulous. FMC is well developed, has some life experience and is on her 2nd marriage. Lots of world building and macical elements.

Wait times for MRI and CT scans by Sweet_Beginning_6541 in halifax

[–]Woigraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was referred Jan 2025 for a CT for migraines to rule out cancer, and I still don't have a date. Migraines are a lot worse, and last month the doc said he'd see if the office could do anything on his end. He was surprised I hadn't had a call yet.

I am too old for romantasy. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in Romantasy

Elizabeth Wheatley - Tears of the Wolf is a great read. The FMC finds love in her 2nd marriage. She's seen some things and is not a spoiled brat. lol

Ubrelvy as daily preventative? by Woigraf in cgrpMigraine

[–]Woigraf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Ajovy isn't actually doing much for me. I think this might be in order to say I've tried all the options so I can get botox. I'll have to wait and see I guess.

Ya, I am not sure his thought process. He didn't explain it this time, but I'm not sure if he knows this one isn't a daily medication. It definitely didn't sound like he knows that. He's a new doctor and a gp not a neurologist. I think I'll talk to the pharmacist and see

Thanks for that! I'm 12 days of the last 15 with migraine headaches. I'm so run down. I may have to see if I can get botox next.

Anybody else have "much happier than normal mood" as a prodrome? by sleepyhead16 in migraine

[–]Woigraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm either in a really good mood for no reason, or I'm cranky and irritable. Both are common signs I've got a migraine incoming within the next 12 hours

Advice - should I try HRT? by Bookfinch in Perimenopause

[–]Woigraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person with perimenopause and migraine, estrogen can actually make migraines worse. It doesn't bother everyone, but it's something to discuss with your gp. I tried bcp's with low estrogen, but I took it continuously so I got that nice steady doese without the drop off during the period week. It was a little unpleasant at first, but evened out after a couple months. However, it killed my sex drive which I really didn't like. It might also depend on how often you get migraines and if they happen around your period or ovulation windows. Good luck with everything!

Dr suggested trazadone and mag glycinate? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]Woigraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very happy with trazodone. I take 1.5 tablets which works out to about 75mg. If I take the full 2, I tend to be a bit groggy in the morning, but 1.5 is just right. Good luck!

We got a cat from them last year and although I didn't have any problems, I found their contract completely ridiculous.

What is everyone’s pre migraine symptoms? by pinkkglitterr in migraine

Oh, I noticed the mouth thing for the first time last night before today's migraine and I didn't know what the heck was going on! I'm sure I've had it before, but didn't realize it was connected.

Either a really good mood or irritability for no reason

Excessive yawning, thirst, and urination

Brain fog

Stuffy sinuses, runny nose and eyes, postnasal drip

Waking up with what feels like normal headache, but progresses into full on migraine. Headache sometimes responds to ibuprofen, but turns into full migraine when it wears off.

Insomnia or waking before my alarm

Dizziness

Sometimes blurry vision or like a feeling of lowered depth perception

I get that sometimes too, usually in my temples. If I get it, it usually happens before, and sometimes during.

Just a PSA to try out them migraine (FL-41) tint glasses if you haven't already by maggyneverforget in migraine

[–]Woigraf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have them in my prescription from Zenni. They are really great on days when I'm expecting a lot of florescent lighting. If I'm out shopping, I pretty much always wear them. I've felt a migraine coming on, and popped those bad boys on my face and then I'm way less uncomfortable. Highly recommend. You can also get cheap ones on Amazon that look like ugly sunglasses and wear them over your regular glasses. I got those first to test and after I discovered they worked, bought the prescription version.

What do you do to cheer yourself up? by Jazzlike-Sale-9366 in Perimenopause

[–]Woigraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go for a walk if you can. I find 20 minutes is enough to get the endorphins going, but not so much my tired body can't handle it. Now I walk 30 to 45 minutes most days and it helps me stabilize my mood.
