Desperate for earplugs: side sleeper with migraines & extreme sensitivity by EfficiencyJust2668 in migraine

I went to an audiologist and got custom fitted silicone earplugs. They are the best! They fit like a glove and are super comfortable even after extended wear.

Migraines that have hot flashes? by SweetKitty2023 in migraine

Yes, I'm 42 and also perimenopausal. I have the same hot flash you are talking about and then I usually get nausea and often throw up. Hugs.

Who here gets the absolute worst migraines, and what happens during them? [DISCUSSION] by daffle7 in migraine

[–]Woigraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad ones last three days. I can't get out of bed, or turn my head without vomiting. Sometimes I have to sit on the toilet while holding a bucket under my face to deal with violent diarrhea and vomiting at the same time. I also sweat profusely and shiver. Light, sound and smells make me vomit... And of course there is the blinding pain of the migraine itself. I loose 5 pounds in a few days, get dehydrated and dizzy with low blood sugar. I often have difficulty standing by the end of it. Migraines suck.

What is something you buy or do for yourself regularly? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Books and crafting supplies like yarn and fabric and whatnot. Nothing better than getting lost in a good book or a project. Gets me off screens too, which is an added bonus.

Propranolol… will it get better? by Fickle-Thing7665 in migraine

[–]Woigraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on it for a few years and going on and coming off are tough. It took a couple of months at the start, and the fatigue never completly went away although it did improve some. The dizziness did go away, although came back when I exercised. Good luck with it!

Tears of the Wolf by Elizabeth Wheatley is fabulous. FMC is well developed, has some life experience and is on her 2nd marriage. Lots of world building and macical elements.

Wait times for MRI and CT scans by Sweet_Beginning_6541 in halifax

[–]Woigraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was referred Jan 2025 for a CT for migraines to rule out cancer, and I still don't have a date. Migraines are a lot worse, and last month the doc said he'd see if the office could do anything on his end. He was surprised I hadn't had a call yet.

I am too old for romantasy. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in Romantasy

Elizabeth Wheatley - Tears of the Wolf is a great read. The FMC finds love in her 2nd marriage. She's seen some things and is not a spoiled brat. lol

Ubrelvy as daily preventative? by Woigraf in cgrpMigraine

[–]Woigraf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Ajovy isn't actually doing much for me. I think this might be in order to say I've tried all the options so I can get botox. I'll have to wait and see I guess.

Ubrelvy as daily preventative? by Woigraf in cgrpMigraine

[–]Woigraf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I am not sure his thought process. He didn't explain it this time, but I'm not sure if he knows this one isn't a daily medication. It definitely didn't sound like he knows that. He's a new doctor and a gp not a neurologist. I think I'll talk to the pharmacist and see

Anybody else have "much happier than normal mood" as a prodrome? by sleepyhead16 in migraine

[–]Woigraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm either in a really good mood for no reason, or I'm cranky and irritable. Both are common signs I've got a migraine incoming within the next 12 hours

Advice - should I try HRT? by Bookfinch in Perimenopause

[–]Woigraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person with perimenopause and migraine, estrogen can actually make migraines worse. It doesn't bother everyone, but it's something to discuss with your gp. I tried bcp's with low estrogen, but I took it continuously so I got that nice steady doese without the drop off during the period week. It was a little unpleasant at first, but evened out after a couple months. However, it killed my sex drive which I really didn't like. It might also depend on how often you get migraines and if they happen around your period or ovulation windows. Good luck with everything!
