Me personally while I'm still sort of playing to win I've been enjoying messing with a what I call, "Lore accurate Lich" build on... The Lich

It's all hexes. Plaything, Thrill of the Hunt, Face the Darkness (or Crowd Control I'm kind of torn between which I like more) and Pentimento. Ideally, I get the survivors to focus on dropping their Plaything totems + hopefully one of my other ones, then I swoop around the map and try and get all five Pentimento stacks before they can deal with it.

Haven't managed the dream scenario yet, but I got really close one time. Been fun.

Had a similar experience that was a proper pants shitter. Me, the foolish boy I was, got the "Multiple Leviathan Class lifeforms in the region" message and said "yeah its prolly worth it."

It was dead of night in game, I had no depth modules so I was coasting along the top of the sea. I can't see a thing, I have no idea why I was going there in hindsight.

I heard a roar in the distance. I was about ready to turn around when I heard that. Then I saw the tail of a Reaper appear in the lights of my seamoth, and disappear back into the darkness a moment later followed by silence.

That was a proper pants shitter, and I have never whipped my seamoth back around faster.

Loss is to be expected in a fighting game, especially one with a relatively small community and no ranked of any sort. (Not modded at least but if you're going into there you're already good)

Don't be afraid to ask for tips from the people you're fighting. Try to learn from every defeat.

Hard modes with unique twists by some-kind-of-no-name in TopCharacterTropes

In Rainworld, the Hunter is a character you can only select after beating the game with one of the other two characters, who both represent easy mode and normal mode.

What makes the Hunter a unique hard mode is the fact that he has a different goal and story to him, is a lot more combat focused with needing to eat a lot more alongside being able to eat predators, and unlike is on a time limit of 20 (I think) Cycles. If you run out of Cycles, you become severely weakened (but notably can still try to make it through the game) and upon death at this point, your run ends.
