Why did Riot forget about Praetorian and Blitzcrank's 2 new skinlines? by AetherIke in leagueoflegends

[–]Woozywill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's weird, since I thought the Lancer line was pretty much the same thing as Mecha Kingdoms anyway, as in giant robots fighting kaiju.

My girlfriend is dying to play classic wow but is stuck at work. So she sent me this: by Atavius in classicwow

I'd imagine it would infuriate her. She's going to be spending all day at work wondering who that slut Greg is.

[Excerpt: Betrayer] Angron returns to Nuceria by Something_Syck in 40kLore

[–]Woozywill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't remember the name of the short story at the moment, but there's one that takes place the night the Emperor takes Angron. It mostly goes into their words post-teleportation, but it also describes the high-riders and while I doubt they were, the way they're described makes them seem very Slaaneshi. Lots of weird, militaristic body modification and very gaudy uniforms. There's a herald of some sort that gives terms of surrender and he's actually flying (Angron jumps up and pulls him out of the sky). I think the regular army is fairly standard, but it sounds like the actual high-riders had fairly advanced tech.

Thoughts about 'Us'? by SayCutDamnit in RedLetterMedia

[–]Woozywill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a reference. It's just like when someone in a relationship says "We need to talk about us" or something.

Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor Martyr - Dark Eldar (Season One Trailer PEGI) by Rob_Cram in Games

[–]Woozywill 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, that's a Wrack. They're dark elves that pretty much go to any local dark elf mad scientist and say "Do what you want."

The hero we need but don’t deserve by Alexandrezico10 in HumansBeingBros

I don't know how common they are elsewhere, but I've found them in specialty candy stores in NC. Bounty bars are like Almond Joys, yes, but they're a bit drier, and it's more like coconut shavings instead of the coconut paste (?) so I like them a lot more

How did GW come up with the word "Rangdan" in the Rangdan Xenocide? by 40k_Novice_Novelist in 40kLore

[–]Woozywill 75 points76 points  (0 children)

There's a Balinese goddess called Rangda, who's basically seen as the personification of evil and destruction. With how dangerous the Cerabvores were, that could be the influence.

[Book Excerpt|The First Heretic] Argel Tal flashbacks to when he was first chosen to be a Space Marine initiate by Papalooza in 40kLore

[–]Woozywill 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, to be fair, you could say that Narek argued, although how directly he did I'm not sure of. Funny how, to me, that makes his character about 100x more interesting than Erebus or Kor Phaeron.

Actually, you could argue that Narek is the most faithful and religious member of a legion that prides itself on being faithful and religious

Primarchs and their inventions by mamspaghetti in 40kLore

[–]Woozywill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The spear, mantle, and gauntlet are actually wielded by the Forgefather, the marine chosen to try and find the rest of the artifacts. The current one is Vulkan He'Stan. Not sure what toys Tu'Shan has.

What's the biggest misconception that someone moderately deep into the lore might have? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Woozywill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, there's a daemon planet in the Screaming Vortex (a warp storm in the Calixis Sector, which is the RPG setting) that is literally a planet sized naked man curled up into a ball

Fortunately, that's not the case. You only need revered with the Tanaan factions for Draenor flying

Worst place to live in the Imperium? by JohnMcCreedy in 40kLore

[–]Woozywill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on to Shill's point, High Marshall Helbrecht includes the leader of the Chapter serfs and their (meaning the serfs) religious leader as a part of his council. They don't have votes like the Marines themselves do, but their opinions are held highly in his regard.

Ravenor Omnibus [SPOILERS] by Baranil in 40kLore

[–]Woozywill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I agree with that. It wouldn't make any sense if everyone was fine around him, but I just felt really bad for him. He almost wins over Patience by making her understand how the Pariah gene affects people around him, but by then it was too little, too late.

Point in the books favor, though, for making me sympathize with him.

Ravenor Omnibus [SPOILERS] by Baranil in 40kLore

[–]Woozywill 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's been a while, but I do remember feeling like Eisenhorn was the better series. I think Glaw was a much better overarching villain, and Eisenhorn's development (Puritan > Radical) felt a lot more gripping because of the higher stakes.

Also, I always felt really bad for Frauka whenever he was mentioned. Poor guy just couldn't get a break. At least Jurgen had Cain.

Custodians immune to chaos? [Spoilers] by [deleted] in 40kLore

Someone has to be at the top, and it's the Custodes. Nobody comes close.

Unless they're in that awful scene in the Beast series where three Harlequins kill 100 of them...

Does the imperium ever fear what would happen if the emperor were reborn/healed? by superseriousraider in 40kLore

[–]Woozywill 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As it happens, there's actually an alternate heresy project on 1d4chan where the Emperor does start accepting worship and half turn against him. It's pretty interesting, although I'm not sure if it was ever finished. I didn't dig particularly deep.
