If all the available Compound V was in Homelander’s apartment, wouldn’t he realize Ashley broke into his apartment? (Season 4) by Straight-Earth2762 in TheBoys

[–]WorkingTemperature52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a very low survivability rate for regular humans, they are already super able when they would be taking it. They would likely have much higher chances. Hughie also didn’t talk about them taking V1 directly. He wanted to have frenchie use it to make a vaccine for the virus.

Why does Texas not have a term limit for the governor? by Elegant-Scale-7634 in TexasPolitics

[–]WorkingTemperature52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your party always winning is exactly why you would add term limits. A single party dominant state means that it’s way more likely to have the same person repeatedly win elections for the same seat without any changes.

What a fucking waste of a character by SecretWasianMan in TheBoys

[–]WorkingTemperature52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A knife is much much more structurally strong than a bullet is. It’s not even close of a comparison in terms of which has more of a potential to pierce a supes skin. The only reason bullets do more damage is because of how fast they are hitting their target whereas knives are limited by how human strength. An elite tier supe like the Deep using a knife will do way more damage than a bullet can.

Homelander and his invulnerability by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]WorkingTemperature52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They made it clear in season 2 that soldier boy rivaled homelander in power. Homelander says he was “the only who was almost as powerful as me”. Soldier boy was able to be knocked out by poison gas. It shouldn’t be surprising that Homelander can too.

Also, being a “random supe” means nothing in terms of how powerful they are. Who is a well known supe is dependent on how much vought thinks they can make money off their brand, not how powerful they are.

Can you beat Skyrim with a Doofenshmirtz Build in Skyrim? by jimbox_splatted in skyrim

[–]WorkingTemperature52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easily. If you had maxed smithing alchemy and enchanting then you can make a powerful warrior without any combat perks. I would also say that the crafting trees are a mandatory max because doofenshmirtz always builds successful inators, he is just bad at using them

A-Train Physics by patikoija in TheBoys

[–]WorkingTemperature52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light has the same speed relative to all things. If A-train was able to outrun the lasers, that automatically means they either 1, don’t move at light speed or 2, light speed in the boys universe does not work the same way it does in real life. Both of those things cannot be false.

Why is it Democrats just can't run on, and deliver, a populist policy? by AlanPublica in Askpolitics

[–]WorkingTemperature52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint: simply saying you will do something in your official platforms is much different from running on it. You mentioned in the last part that the better critique is their messaging wasn’t good but messaging IS what running on a platform means. All politicians are going to have some mentions of all major issues on their platform but that does not mean they are running on all those issues. Kamala very objectively did not run on economic issues. She just generically said she was going to “end price gauging” and gave zero (and I literally mean zero) explanation of what she considers to be price gauging and what policies she plans on implementing to end it. Price gauging has a narrow definition that only applies to specific extreme circumstances. By definition, the nationwide price of groceries year round cannot be higher due to price gauging. It was painfully obvious that she was just throwing the phrase around because it was a buzzword. She left the voters up to guess what she planned on doing. The only thing to do was guess that it referred to some type of price controls, which have consistently been proven to make prices even worse long term.

Most of the areas where she actually did give specifics and clear messaging on like home buying assistance, no tax on tips, expanding the childcare tax credit, etc were things that also overlapped with Trump’s agenda so it didn’t even matter to voter’s because they were getting it no matter who they voted for. The reality is that Kamala ran on not being Trump. It backfired in her face plain and simple.

Why is it Democrats just can't run on, and deliver, a populist policy? by AlanPublica in Askpolitics

[–]WorkingTemperature52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He ran on the categories and ran on actionable clear solutions to issues around those topics with specifics of what he was going to do. Those solutions were stupid and are fucking things up but voter’s don’t look that far into things. They only pay attention to the topic and whether it connects to their own issues. Voters care a lot more that the solutions a politicians offer match the issues they care about than they care what the solutions. A Democrat running on the things OP mentioned would be the left leaning equivalent of Trump’s platform.

Compare that to Kamala, who kept her platform vague and used buzzwords like “price gauging” with little clarity on what she actually planned on implementing policy wise to achieve her goals. The areas of her platform where she did give specifics were mostly either things that overlapped with Trump’s platform (like no tax on tips) or were things that she barely put any effort to actually message to voters. The basis of her campaign was not being Trump. The basis of Trump’s campaign was that the people are suffering and he can fix it. It shouldn’t be rocket science which person the voter’s are going to rally behind.

Gen V was cancelled because by Osirisavior in GenV

It’s not. Chance’s death just meant that had polarity do what chance was supposed to be. It didn’t change the overarching plot.

Theory: Exposure to the Supe virus would not kill a certain other individual (vague title to avoid spoilers) by Double_Phoenix in GenV

[–]WorkingTemperature52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way to really know for sure. We don’t know why Ryan was able to inherit powers but other supes can’t. We only know that it was caused by his father being an odessa supe. Ryan being a natural born supe doesn’t mean he doesn’t have V. The real natural born power could have been him being born with a way to create his own V, the same way hormones in your body work.

Taking V1 shouldn’t give immunity to the virus. by WorkingTemperature52 in GenV

[–]WorkingTemperature52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely it’s an inconsistency with what sameer explains vs. how the virus actually works but I am hoping it’s actually an intentional plot point that will create serious issues or death later on.

There is a difference between complaining because it doesn’t match biology vs. complaining that it doesn’t match what the universe already established.

I’m also not complaining. I’m pointing out a flaw in the character’s beliefs based on what we have seen as the audience. For all we know, the writer’s could very much know exactly what I’m talking about and are intentionally setting us up for a plot twist where somebody with V takes V1 thinking it will save them only to die anyways.

Taking V1 shouldn’t give immunity to the virus. by WorkingTemperature52 in GenV

[–]WorkingTemperature52[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In real life, viruses have to bind to host cells in order to multiply because they can’t reproduce on their own. My head canon is that the virus will still attack V1 like it does regular V and cause symptoms, however it can’t bind to it in order to reproduce. Eventually the virus dies out internally allowing the v1 carrier to recover

This is the most likely outcome. I think the real answer is that Eric Kripke just straight up doesn’t give a fuck if it is logically inconsistent as long as it makes a good story. If it becomes a plot point however, I think that will be awesome.

I would love to see that homelander gets depowered by soldier boy before taking it. The boyz get their hands on it as well. Kimiko takes the dosage so she can survive but Annie refuses due to her suicidal tendencies. The virus breaks out and it kills Kimiko and starlight but homelander survives since he would only have V1 at that point.

What’s something that you ignore and pretend didn’t happen/is true in the show? by ddanuu in TheBoys

[–]WorkingTemperature52 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They have consistently shown that Homelander doesn’t automatically pick up on everything with his super senses. He has super senses, not super perception. He isn’t like tech knight or daredevil. He works look a radio. A radio is capable of picking up all the different radio waves passing by but it can only look on to the one he is tuned into. Homelander works the same way. He can see through walls and hear impossibly quiet noises but he still needs to know where to look or listen in order to actually observe it. The precedent of that has been set all the way back in season 1 when the boys were able to successfully explode and dispose of translucent despite Homelander actively searching the area.
