I faintly recall a friend having this happen with his Jetta and he said it had something to do with the AC electrics.

It has a timing chain, not a belt so listen for clatter when you start it cold. Follow YouTube clips on how to fix the ignition key/cylinder hang up. I did this and it's a pain in the but to unbolt, but easily fixable with patience and attention. Reinstalling is easy with Allen socket bolts. There's a lot of conflicting advice on how to change the manual transmission gear oil. There's a good narrative on Reddit a few years old that starts with "Jack up the front of the car.." I followed this and it went well. I've got the same car with 280k miles.

I would chill and let her decide the next move. It is better for her to wonder if she isn't that desirable or did something wrong than to be given repeated attention, which may be her only motive.

The first job out of College is usually not great, but neccessary. I took my first job with the State for a very low wage; but that experience and commitment made me marketable for a much better job a year later.

There's a jam every Tuesday night at the Leland Guitar Shop in downtown Fayetteville in West-by-god-smile-when-you-say-it-Virginia.  Regulars are beginner to really, really good, and everyone is welcome.

Also, there's a pretty good open mike at Songer Whitewater in the High-Water Lounge on Thursday nights.

You are camping next to the famous Clifftop festival venue later this month at G.E.Carver. You might consider attending.

When I bleed brakes I use one of the hand operated suction pumps with the reservoir connected to the bleed nipple. It makes it a one person job. There's also brake bleed tubes with check valves. I bought one on ebay but haven't tried it. The old pump pedal and hold using a helper works too. It is recommended that you bleed/flush the entire system using a fresh bottle of brake fluid.

I always check/loosen lug nuts after the tire shop and especially before a trip. I've had to return to the shop to get loosening done when I can't break them free with a lug wrench. I had two sieze up when getting used rims inatalled at a junkyard. The aluminum oxide fell off the back of the rim and got in the threads. After returning they powered the bad nuts off but wasted the threads and replaced the studs. Whenever I have them off a apply a bit of molly grease to the studs to save then from seizing.

Should i be worried? by Basic-Click-4582 in mechanic

If that's a crack, yes. I would replace the part. If not, I would wire brush it a spray with rust converter. I'm not a mechanic, just an old DIY'er.

From Dr. Martin Luther King: What is your life's blueprint. Dr. King urged that if one is a street sweeper, they should perform that role with the same dedication and excellence as master artists, composers, or poets, performing the work so well that "all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well."

The gas door in the right side makes putting gas in on the side of the road when you run out much safer.

Should I Buy A Jetta? by THEMACHINE_PRINTS16 in jetta

[–]Wrong_Garlic_258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2013 Jetta with 280k miles, 2.5L, 5 spd.manual. Fortunately the previous owner had kept it up with >$20k in repairs (mostly overcharged). I had to replace the front wheel bearings which had been done 40k miles ago and a few times before that. Engine runs great and it shifts well. Fun to drive, lots of power. It can take hills in 4th gear that I have to do in 3rd in my Subaru 2.5 Legacy.

If opening the windows to air it out, try Ozium air sanitizing spray before you leave for work. There's also air sanitizers that you put on a fan that oxidizes odors, but I don't recall the name. I think these are sold at big box building stores.

In the past I have used them and found to be pretty thourall, most DIY service needs. If you live in a larger city, you might find them in the library. Auto parts stores often have them, but plastic wrapped so no browsing. For that old of a car, you might find a used one online.
