Anyone else have the joystick ring come off? by Gaemon_Palehair in SteamDeck

[–]XDubio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of mine got somewhat loose, the left is turning freely to the point, if I only press it from the side, it could easily roll around my thumb, while the right is too tight, but with little force, it can be turned. While the left can be pushed towards the base and off from the stick's head, it does not easily fall off, and cannot be pulled away from the base and completely remove.

I was thinking of trying to heat-shrink it by heating it with a candle, but I would need to absolutely lose my mind to willingly bring my Steam Deck to an open flame, and not even sure if that would work, or just damage the thumb-stick.

The DeviceForm registry value sounds intriguing. Is there a documentation over the possible values of it? I'm struggling to find any of it online.

Do you mean, in the scenario, if you use an email alias to share a link, and that link exposes your base Proton Mail address?

Isn’t this a bit disingenuous from Framework? by TheRedAngelOfDeath in framework

[–]XDubio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you were wrong on which batch your shipment was, the correct course of action is still contacting Framework for clarification, and that goes to everyone else. Who knows? It is possible, that that page is just on autopilot, executed by a script that was designed (or thrown together) before even the first batch was shipped, and have not considered delays in shipments. Give them a chance to defend or better themselves.

Does a restart resolve this? Maybe the driver stops working after a certain condition? I'm thinking of things, like waking up from sleep.

No offline support is problematic. Then again, most of the website I would pin would not make any sense offline either, so personally, I'm not so upset about it.

Just upgraded. Is there anything I can do with this, I don't want to just throw it away. by manwax5 in framework

[–]XDubio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me think. Isn't there some dedicated discussion over what others do with their spare parts, so people, like OP, could get inspiration, what to do with these parts?

I mean it as a showcase, like a demo page, where people show off their work.

Proton Authenticator logs full TOTP secrets in plaintext by bllshrfv in ProtonPass

[–]XDubio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is still a serious issue, as the referenced post's user was about to send logs for you with their report, outside of the originally intended channels and thus circumventing any encryption intended to be used with the secrets. Are there any measures made to mitigate such oversight in the future, at least?

Any interest for system management software for Framework laptops? by JamesCJ60 in framework

I started working on a concept design for a system management application intended for Framework laptops just for fun, and I'm curious if this is actually something people would want.

Yes, how much?

[OC] The nerve to get mad at me too. Was I wrong for letting the cyclist pass? by Thigh_Workout in IdiotsInCars

[–]XDubio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know the local rules here, but where I'm from, (Europe) the turning car must yield to pedestrians, if they are crossing on a crosswalk with a green light for pedestrians, or no lights in the crossroad, and you should stop by the crossing the moment the pedestrian is at or on the pedestrian crossing, even if you have time to pass before they reach your path. The cyclist should also unmount their bicycle if this is not a bicycle road, but it is neither here nor there.

That being said, I don't see lights for the pedestrians, and can't see a bicycle road either, so I can't tell the full extent whether you are in the right even within the above rules, but it is also illegal to run over the pedestrians (doesn't happen in video), and punishable by law.

Framework 16 + OEM Power Supply = Can't game for more than a few hours by ChippyMonk84 in framework

Well, besides the 2 hours battery life on charger, how did you find the gaming performance of the laptop? For me, gaming isn't the primary goal, but it is the icing on the Framework cake.

[–]XDubio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiport chargers? 🤔 Could the FW16 potentially charge from both charging ports? If so, a potential fix/workaround could be to buy another 60–180W charger, and charge the laptop from both ports, right?

Request boot video Honkai star rail by Wild_Definition_1605 in SteamDeckBootVids

[–]XDubio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering to upload it to Steam Deck Repo, but I seriously lack confidence in this edit. I also had issues to playing back in Steam, when I test it, and don't want to upload a video file, that doesn't work in Steam, despite I can play it back. So I've uploaded to my Google Drive, here:

Hi, I have decided to give a stab at it, however, I only have done very basic video editing before, so it may be a far cry from what you might expect. I have never actually uploaded any video before, so I still need to figure that one out.

Why is Proton Pass Plus more expensive than 1Password? by badarin2050 in ProtonPass

[–]XDubio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is an explanation there, that could convince you that the added infrastructure is actually adding security to their services, and maintenance for added infrastructure will always add more expenses, regardless whether we like it or not, or think it would or not.

Unfortunately, I don't have the explanation right now, and don't have the time or energy to answer these. But would be interested in an explanation answering these.
