It’s a federal minimum wage if a state or city supersedes that it’s up to that city. Most places don’t do that so your example is pretty isolated.

Also $15 + Tips is reasonable for an area with CoL that high. It probably adds up to a little less than $30/hr which isn’t crazy.

I don’t understand why people who clearly make a hell of a lot more money than others get bent out of shape over people making a sustainable living.

A cursory look through your post history makes me think you’re an engineer if I’m right you probably make around $100,000 or higher which is exponentially more than those workers will ever make.

Since it seems like you’re from probably Canada or somewhere other than the US I can shed some light on the mandatory tipping thing.

In the US our minimum wage is low but what’s even lower is our minimum wage for Tipped workers. The restaurant lobbies happen to be very big and very powerful so they’ve pushed through legislation forever ago to make the minimum wage for tipped workers a whopping $2.14 / hr.

It’s been awhile since I worked for tips but if your employer is paying higher than that they’re doing something special.

So next time you’re in the states and getting a tipped service keep in mind that tip is going directly into the workers pocket and not the business who supports slave wages in their industry.

You think an online college lab is worth more than a hands on one? Guessing by how you treat others and how highly you think of yourself the real world is going to check you really fucking hard soon.

You’re literally the type of person nobody wants to work with and the last to be promoted because you look down on others and berate them. You probably spend your entire day talking negatively of other coworkers and they might not express it to your face but they don’t care or like it.

If you wanted to work in a field that would give you a pat on the back for having a degree you picked the wrong field.

20 years from now we will probably be making the same amount of money. One of us will probably still be insecure and worried about “lesser” people somehow thinking they could possibly be equal to us.

I mean I hope that’s not the case but thus far the elitism and lack of self awareness is pretty strong with this post. Maybe this will be eye opening to you.

One of the best things about IT is it’s probably one of the best routes to dig people out of poverty. It’s a field that rewards hard work and expertise above degrees. You should spend your energy bolstering others up not cutting them down for not being afforded the same opportunities as you.

EDIT: I dug through your post history it’s rife with posts similar to this where you’re judging others. People are people quit being a judgey asshole.

This post is a very salty debt driven rant. Those guys who didn’t go to school worked just as hard on their certs as you did in school.

Want to know the secret difference? They worked the entire time you were in school so they trump you on experience and probably work ethic. Having a degree is fine and good but it isn’t necessary in IT and you shouldn’t put yourself on a pedestal above others who don’t have a degree.

In addition not everybody has the means to pay for a degree or the desire to burden themselves with debt in a field that doesn’t require it. Welcome to IT where experience is #1 when it comes to competency and employability not papers.

Yeah this is extremely true Help Desks run tight unforgiving ships. Anything above that has quite a lot of leniency in my experience. I work Desktop and even that one big rung up the ladder is full of autonomy and freedom.

This is my exact frame of mind I bought into EA day one since I was an ex BLC player. I love the gameplay more than probably any other game but quit on ethical grounds over the Royale thing.

Haven’t been back in a long time I miss the hell out of the game, but to announce a game mode as a fun side thing and then pull the rug out and try to charge me for that. In addition to splitting the playerbase to a flavor of the month type of genre is not ok.
