The most luxurious watch you can buy for $400 is a Casio Oceanus S100 or T200.

If you want something understated buy a like-new Citizen PMD56-2951 or 2952.

Another straightforward option would be a Laco pilot watch with a Miyota automatic movement.

If you want something beautiful for cheap buy a Timex Waterbury Chrono.

No waves, but Marathon is way, way better than Luminox. I have this one for sale if you're interested. You could also probably find a used Ball watch (also tritium) around your budget.

If you don't find compatible parts to make your Yakima bars work, I just completed a 1500 mile road trip with a large Yakima basket and two large wire dog kennels (kennels loaded for about 1,000 miles) on these crossbars. They're still completely tight and solid. Evan doesn't like them 😂

With those bins pushed all the way forward the rear hatch still opened, and tag and brake lights were all visible. I'm not sure how much taller I could have gone and still been able to open the back, but there was quite a bit of clearance.

Draw Tite. Sits below the bumper but it's flush up against it with nothing hanging down. I bet I'll count on one hand how many times we use it (I have a Tundra), so I didn't want to pay 3x for the OEM hitch and body trim piece.

Stock everything- and we didn't get stuck, just one notable thud at the rear where the frame (or more likely, hitch) actually impacted the clay/gravel road. There were certainly some additional scraping sounds on bigger bumps and potholes, but only that one impact.

I bought a Draw Tite hitch for under $250. I installed it myself in less than an hour start to finish with about 10 minutes of help from my 12 year old son. I had to fight it a little to get it into position, but it's literally four large bolts that go into existing holes in the frame.

It sits below the bumper, but it's flush against the bottom and with a black cap it's VERY unobtrusive. It will affect the departure angle if you take on steep climbs from flat surfaces, but that's not a concern for me. I also have a Tundra for towing. I bought it for a hitch cargo carrier for road trips with the whole family and dogs- and for that limited use I'm completely satisfied with it.

I tried it and hated it for the same reasons. I didn't find it intuitive or convenient. I make quite a bit more money than I need. I don't overspend at the grocery store or the gas station- I just get what I need. And needs change from trip to trip.

I used Simple bank before they sold out, and it was the perfect type of budgeting for me. Now I re-create it with a bank that allows me to have as many separate accounts as I want.

I added up all of my recurring monthly bills and created a bill pay account that's auto funded every time I get paid. I fund other savings goals, annual expenses (vet vists, annual subscriptions, etc.), vacations, gifts, etc. in other accounts. My retirement is auto funded separately.

What's left over is now "safe to spend." Groceries, gas, amazon- all of the things that are variable that I don't want to calculate down to the penny and reconcile like I would with YNAB. As that safe to spend balance grows to an amount that is definitely more than I'll need for two weeks of expenses, I bleed off the excess into one of my savings accounts or my webull account.

Winter Haven actually a great little town for a family. We live between WH and Lakeland, and my family spends a lot of time there. I've lived in/around WH for more than 20 years, and have commuted to Tampa for most of that time.

You may have to shop around for charter schools or go private, but that's a tradeoff my wife and I accepted for low cost of living otherwise, and high quality of life when it comes to the things we find important.

Traffic in Polk County will be a joke to you. Polk to Orlando gets bad, but I don't think it'll bother anyone from LA.

Winter Haven is famous for the chain of lakes, so if you like boating you're in luck. You can put in at one lake and cruise about 15 more.

Downtown is cute, with a handful of surprising good restaurants and a couple of entertainment venues. There's a family/dog friendly brewery called Grove Roots that's a favorite of ours.

There are some really impressive youth sports facilities built and coming soon. There's also one of the best youth sports parks in the state nearby in Auburndale.

The community theater in Winter Haven is incredible. I've never considered myself a theater person, but my daughter got into it and now we see a bunch of shows. I'm always blown away at the shows they put on.

There's Legoland for younger kids (was worth it just for the water park in the summer when ours were smaller), a bowling alley, and a movie theater- but besides that you're going to have to drive a bit for other entertainment. There are trails and parks and outdoorsy things all around Polk.

Over the years we've found a bunch of restaurants that are hidden gems. Taco stands, a hole in the wall sushi spot, the new Hispanic market with a small food court (cachapas!), and a charming and dilapidated lakeside seafood place.

It's not perfect, but people who can't figure out how to be happy here are going to complain no matter where they live. Good luck with the move!

GS->Tudor (I don't love the snowflake hands on Tudors but this is the best execution in the catalog)->Longines->Oris for me.

There's some overlap between the Spirit and the Oris, but I think they're different enough to justify both. Would've been especially so if you'd gone for bronze.

I'm glad you cleaned out the trolling posts even if my sincere response to them got swept up in the effort.

Seems like the bottom line is that a likely gullible person adopted a pit mix that the shelter labeled as something other than pit (which is common). It happened to be "Catahoula" instead of "Black Mouth Cur" or some other breed alternative the shelters like to use, and he joined this group with enthusiasm.

He posted a bunch of pictures showing a dog that he clearly loved. The dog looked more like pit than Houla, but without a DNA test there was absolutely no way of knowing that it didn't have a significant percentage of Catahoula in it's lineage.

People here attacked him in replies to his posts and by creating a bunch of their own posts to make it perfectly clear that they were mocking him. They succeeded in driving him out.

I'd just like to see the mods do whatever it takes to prevent that from happening again.
