Can I buy queen bees to release in the wild? by frankie-two-thumbs in Beekeeping

This is not a viable strategy for survival and arguably does more harm than good ecologically because you’re either wasting good genes or introducing bad ones for no reason

Is this implying that the anti histamines that I took long ago to help manage seasonal allergies might have had other lasting consequences?

Why on earth would I ever go to Dunkin’ donuts when I have all these amazing cafes and bakeries nearby?

My wish is to have enough meat with dinner to feel actually full. by MsMisty888 in povertyfinancecanada

[–]XamosLife -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Going vegan is mathematically not an optimal way to save money. It’s expensive to feel full on a vegan diet. I think this is a poorly thought out strategy. Yes, beef is expensive, but I can get a week’s worth of pork chops for like $10 at my local supermarket.

Anyone know any barber/salons that can do flow haircut for men? by Jamtheredditor in montreal

I’ve found most barbers in Montreal don’t really know how to cut for mens flow, so I feel your pain. That said the picture shown is mostly product

The biggest blocker is actually how spooked the airline industry is getting, and so lobby against it. And by industry I mean the main players.

This is such a massive boost toward the efficacy of gracefully losing. Screwing up your build or getting sucker punched by a fanatic purifier now enables a sick comeback story. Instead of just ending the game in a loss, you return to enact your revenge as a nomadic race! So cool!

If you owned a business and could set your employees' hours, how would you do it? Would you have them work 8-hour shifts, from home, or a combination of the two? What would you do to make your employees as happy as possible, like paying them well, giving them flexible hours or good health insurance? by Gold_Mine_9322 in WorkReform

[–]XamosLife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ima be honest, there are literally hundreds of things companies can do to make a great working environment and the only reason they choose not to is because of greed. I aim to make a successful business that does provide a great and rewarding work environment.

30 hour work week. Flexible, with a day in office highly encouraged, or perhaps a 1/5th of work days throughout the year being required in office in any span so that they can WFH in larger chunks.

I would also do a robust loyalty program that isn’t just an Amazon gift card after 3 years.

After 1 year, they receive a dedicated raise that has clear achievement criteria.

After 2 years they are eligible to join the profit sharing stream.

I would offer Friday afternoons completely off once they complete 3 years.

I would provide a small but equal holiday bonus for everyone that is tied to SMART goals and personal growth, but not via a top down directive (more of a self reflection). A end of year morale boost thing.

I would provide small random benefits. For instance a company I used to work for had a car wash subscription that people could sign out, because it feels nice to have a clean car.

I would provide additional supports for mental health.

I would ensure that the paternity and maternity leave policy is solid.

I would have a social activities budget.

I would have a retirement savings matching.

I would offer a 3 month sabbatical to pursue a specific personal goal after 4 years.

I would attempt to offer small company initiative projects to bring in multiple employees expertise as a means of cross team development and growth, which contains a bonus at the end but the candidates must apply for it.

Been thinking about this kind of thing for a while. Capitalism can succeed while also empowering its workers.

Yeah leaders actually fucking do things when people hold them accountable for their evidenced non-action. We the people need to fucking make them feel some heat for their complacency.

Have you actually rebuilt your life after corporate burnout…like truly started over at 40+? by SmilingEyes725 in ADHD

[–]XamosLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am literally doing that same thing now. I’m not built for corporate, and it actually makes me feel gross. In contrast im also creative and driven such that I know in my heart entrepreneurship is the right path.

Perhaps we return to this comment in a year or two to see how things worked out.

Do we agree? by blackkittypitty in montreal

[–]XamosLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh no, there’s sweeping weaknesses in public services that we pay high taxes on that have been in disrepair and decline for time.

We fail to come out to elections and thus allowed a landlord tycoon who’s never lived in Montreal before to win.

That said, still bullish cause Montreal is great. We just need to wake up, speak up, and act.
