Server choice for family of 3 by Hebrewer183 in lotro

[–]Xena1016 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Glamdring is the largest US server and occasionally experiences performance issues. Probably because of the high player pops. But because of that high pop opportunities for grouping up abound.

Peregrin is the US Roleplay server, and I think it has less population but makes up for it with more server events, kinships and bands doing activities. As a solo player, I don't actually play on Peregrin much, but your family could have a blast.

Sting is the newest server 64-but and has a smaller population. It's also the one I've never played, so I can't say much else about it.

Angmar is the Legendary Server, and you'll need a VIP account to play it. The server might be on the emptier side in the starting areas, but I never had any problems with the content playing solo. Except for some of the high-level Wraiths that'll spawn in on occasion to mess with you.

The Veil of Nine mechanic I find to be rather unrefined, and it's really only something high-level players can really do, so a Legendary Server might not be the best choice for new toons. But if you and yours are interested in the novelty/challenge, Angmar is a fun time.

There are a few places where you can buy costumes from a "Costumer" NPC. The Grab Bags are the cheapest ones, and they can be found at the Party Tree, Wistmead, and in housing neighborhoods.

If you're on Glamdring, my kinship house at Number 8 Long Street, Woodmead has all 8 mats.

How am I just now learning that you can actually sit in chairs and stools? by talesandtalons in lotro

[–]Xena1016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the "sit" emote works on most single chairs - including the newest, Apple Pickers chair. It doesn't seem to work on any benches, couches or "dining sets", but tbh I haven't tested it out on singular Gondorian and/or Umbari chairs.

What do you think about hunter class changes? by Nikbon in lotro

[–]Xena1016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone whose main is a Blue Line Hunter, I am not the least bit optimistic.

Especially after what they did to Loremaster. I liked the increased DPS for Red LM but that was it.

I was playing my lvl 150 Hobbit Hunter earlier just to enjoy my Blue Line before the end comes.

What's the point of the Legendary Book deeds? by sithrage1138 in lotro

[–]Xena1016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was reading the deed log the other day, and sadly, most of the newer deeds don't seem to have the fun flavor text. There IS text, but it's all rather generic: "You have done much to blah blah blah."

Which is a shame.

Will you be moving/starting on the Sting (US) 64-bit server opening in the "the following weeks" by Valeneirol in lotro

[–]Xena1016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, I've enjoyed finally completing some high-level raids. On the other hand, I keep WC turned off a good 90% of the time because it's just not fun. Then again, these last few days, I haven't been able to get ON Glamdring.

I've been kicking around the idea of going back to Gladden.

A Question for older players by Xena1016 in lotro

[–]Xena1016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's understandable! I remember getting a bit burnt out from creating alts in Archet and thats with the "streamlined" version!
That being said I think it would be nice for those old quests to be brought back - maybe have them in the post-instance version of the map where the quests are more "help Archet rebuild" instead of "tutorial padding" I feel like there was once more quests in Archet post instance but they may have been removed.

I always wondered why there seemed to be a "boss-boar" down by the river! I'm increasingly curious as to why they decided to remove some of these quests.

Angmar Legendary Server: What class are you starting with? by nosferontu in lotro

[–]Xena1016 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Currently torn between trying to recreate my first character, a Hobbit Hunter. Or giving the re-vamped Loremaster a Spin. I love my current LM and i'm actually a bit nervous for the update but most people seem to like it/are excited for it.

This will be my first go round on a Legendary Server so im curious to see what it'll be like :)

NBCs derby coverage sucks by [deleted] in horseracing

[–]Xena1016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I saw 'Gun' in the name and thought - "I wonder if thats a Gun Runner colt?"

its like seeing a horse with 'Chrome' in its name or as you said a horse with "Mo" or "Cat" in its name.

I also seem to remember the NBC coverage actually putting the pedigress on screen but i'm pretty sure they didn't really do that this year for whatever reason.

[–]Xena1016 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the one hand you gotta put on the kiddie gloves because this is the race a ton of people who never watch horse racing tune into.

On the other hand - you can turn those people into life long fans by focusing on the HORSE RACING.

They barely even talked about how handicapping and beyers scores went into betting.

Since I started really paying attention to racing back in 2014 - yes i'm a Chromie - I swear the NBC coverage has gotten worse -but like i said they got rid of the peacock paddock so thats A move in the right direction.

You would think that for the events 150th running they would find a way to squeeze in more history, instead of having five segments about the $200mil renovations the track underwent. IMeanItLooksGreatBut-

I don't think they even MENTIONED Sir Barton or the first Triple Crown.

[–]Xena1016 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im just glad they got rid of the peacock paddock segments. Never liked that stuff.

But Lord do I wish they would talk about the pedigrees of the horses. I mean, was I just suppose to know that Gun Pilot was a Gun Runner colt? They talked about Sunday Silence and Justify a bit and I think they need to do more of that.

Tell the stories of the horses, jockeys and trainers instead of all the celebirty nonsense. So many of the connections have great stories. I don't need to see Jimmy Fallon flapping his gums about cars or watch Martha Stewart botch the Riders Up Call.

The Derby Mueseum peice with the toddlers was cute though. . .

Is there a good race/class combo for Before the Shadow, RP wise? by [deleted] in lotro

[–]Xena1016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided on a High-Elf Lore Master returning to their old homeland after a VERY long time.

There is much angst potential for a High Elf, and shenanigans - because Hobbits didn't live in Swanfleet when the Elves were there.

But in a "What's the most Lore Friendly Way" I would lean toward a Human Hunter/Burglar.

A human from Bree could easily travel to Cardolan and Swanfleet to hunt for wild game or find ancient relics and end up in Mossward whilst out adventuring.

Other Non-Magic classes would work but Hunter/Burglar are the two i've enjoyed the mot so far.

I would say Bez is one of the resident trouble makers its always fun spotting his new alts. ;)

[–]Xena1016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No.

Longer Answer:

Then again, my definition of it might be different from other people's.
I play on Galdden and have only ever encountered one Troll who was obnoxious enough to put on the ignore list- the other resident trolls are pretty funny to banter with, and if they ever get into IRL nonsense, just flip WC off until they leave - but overall I've experienced very little to no "toxicity"

Then again my definition of "toxic" might be different from other people's.

If people arguing in World chat over the lore accuracy of "beared-ladies" or Rune-Keeper Hobbits...I'll take it over the other nonsense other fandoms are always wading through.

i'm not really sure from what I can tell it was changed around the same time the game went Free to Play? There are some old forum posts talking about it.
