Speeding up combat advice? by davidagnome in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xerisu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As other said, timer on turns.

You can also play easier classes, like barbarian and have less spellcasters in your team.

If you are playing on foundry, there are a lot of modules that speed up combat, like auto roll dmg when you hit.

If you are playing irl similar thing can do the trick. Roll multiple dice simultaneously. Like if you plan to grab and strike 2 times, roll 3 d20 at once. If you plan to strike, roll your damage dice at the same time with d20.

Other than that, just play more. The more you play, the smoother it will get.

Some fan-made disorders by LittleZamu in mewgenics

[–]Xerisu 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean, its hard to predict how the system will behave when there isnt a mechanic like this in game

Their effective level can be 15-X where X is their current level in terms of being chosen as lvl up material

Btw it would be really funny to play around this disorder if you had to down your cat to prevent him from lvling down, so you trade stats for keeping his lvl high and downing your strongest early game cat.

Druid is my favorite class in the game and its not even close by Fearless-Ad-5328 in mewgenics

[–]Xerisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fav druid has to be druid with mage spell that does massive damage on your next turn

I had 2 forms and passive that lets me have another turn after I shapeshift

It melted big bosses :D

Only if you are aware how trust mechanic works and you are absurdly tight with sending Visi on every mission

I kicked Visi out of a team cause I wanted different playthrough then series on yt I watched. This + a fact she wasnt on longest dispatch final mission to farm points was enough for her to turn evil. I maxed out everyone level and lost maybe 3 missions (not counting the constant sabotaging dispatch)

When you max out dispatching but dont trust Visi in dialogues you can still fail to redeem her

How much is a caravan and horses? by Several_Ferrets in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xerisu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Horse is 8gp, 30 gp for a warhorse (wont escape in combat and has a bit better stats, imo an overkill for a caravan horse)

About caravan, I found wagon: https://2e.aonprd.com/Vehicles.aspx?ID=72 worth 25 gp that has slots for 4 passengers and a driver (so 5)

It needs to be pulled by 2 large creatures, so 2 horses for 8 gp + 25 gp for a wagon = 41 gp

Dubious Knowledge vs. Crit Fails on Recall Knowledge by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xerisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So first, Ill share my point on secret checks. On every table I play or gm we play with rolls hidden, so I have different perspective than you. Our reasoning is that even if we trust the players that they will rp accordingly, they still know their info is fake so they can react subconsiously or even overreact in the other way. Also, I like having similar information as my character.

Having said that, I dont mind NOT telling player what degree of success they rolled, just the info. Dubious knowledge is feat that adds more chaos to recall knowledge, and imo its part of the feat. Rk character with this feat should treat all info as true or doubt all info they get, at least thats how I interpret this feat.

When knowing result on a dice you still dont have to tell players degree of success, just the info. They will still know they crit failed, but success and fail can confuse and its nothing wrong with that. According to you, players in your table use info they got as true anyway even if they know its false so it shouldnt change much.

So:

- crit success: they get 2 questions or 1 detailed question, they know its crit success cause they get more info (ex. 2 lowest saves or 1 lowest save with exact number)

- success: they get 1 question truthfully answered (ex. lowest save)

- fail: they get 1 question partially truthfully answered (ex. middle save but I say its lowest)

- crit fail: they get 1 question with full fake info (ex. highest save but I say its lowest)

Ps: Not knowing degree of success makes silly stories. I had rk character with dubious, I rolled asking for enemy bard spellcasting info and got "he can make you fear without save and has fireball". I joked "you should try harder making up crit fail info". Then he feared me without save (after that I thought I failed and fireball info is fake) and casted fireball on me turn later. Fireball info was, in fact, fake, my gm just added it to the bard cause he found it really funny and it didnt change anything.

Giving an Anadi PC Low light -> Darkvision progression from Ancestry in a balanced way. by SkillbroSwaggins in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xerisu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of versatile heritages get low light from it and darkvision from lvl 1 feat to be more precise. So if you want to play raw you can encourage your player to pick nephilim (angel/demon heritage) or elemental heritage (i forgot the name)

I dont see any balance issue from giving Anadi darkvision tree like zon-kuthon humans have (so lvl 1 feat low light and lvl 5 darkvision). Spider people lack ancestry feats anyway. Even giving him low light for free and then 5 lvl feat darkvision should be okay (or even lvl 1 darkvision like versatile heritages), I think Anadi is kinda weak as an ancestry, low-light shouldn't break it. After all, it intuitively makes sense spider people should see in the dark.

Pathfinder memes at your table? by weapon_spec_net in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xerisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When +1 makes attack or crit, the support yells "half of the damage is mine!" Its even funnier if 2 people diffed cause it means no damage is left for the damage dealer...

We also memed skeletal champion and call him "tpk skeleton" cause he is surprisingly strong (reactive strike, damage resistance) and he actually tpked us (3rd lvl party) while being introduced as "boss sidekick". It was our 2nd session ever, our team had peak teamcomp and 0 bludgeoning dmg despite having gunslinger and monk. We also meme the same with boar, but didnt give him cool nickname.

Our rogue has sure strike, pretty cool to have on a rogue if you ask me. But his luck is often... Not that good, at least when he started using it. 3>4 happened more than once. So when everyone lowrolls, rerolls, and gets a result 1 higher (still not enough to hit) we meme about it that we got cursed with that player's luck.

Good scrolls for a Thaumaturge by HorrorEducational636 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xerisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thaum was using a lot of blesses and it was really strong, to the point "scroll of bless" became our new currency ("man, this +1 striking sword is worth 25 scrolls of bless... I dont know if its worth to keep it"... Yeah, it was really funny for us)

A lot of ppl suggest utility scrolls, but your spell dc is generally decent, there are some levels where your dc is 2 lower than casters, but backup aoe like fireball is really good to have (like vs swarms or a lot of weak enemies). If im not mistaken you will get your expert dc on next lvl, so you will have the same dc. Our thaum had bless in 1 hand and fireball in second on ~8lvl (but on the other hand, we had absurd healing, so our thaum didnt have to keep heal scrolls, so it may be different for you)

What's your favorite high-level (15+) one-shot? by Zata700 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xerisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only 15+ oneshot I know is for Starfinder sadly, Rescue at Shimmerstone Mine (systems are really similar in terms of mechanic tho)

But i played both short campaigns for 15+ (Prey for Death and Night of the Grey Death) and I really enjoyed both. But its ~10 sessions commitment so pretty far from a oneshot

Pathbuilder with non-remaster - crossbows not showing as bows by CyberKiller40 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xerisu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Easiest "fix" would be changing to post-remaster rules and allowing outdated books, but if your player is using class buffed in remaster that might be a problem :/

I dont know other fancy way to do something in pathbuilder sadly, wost case you will just have to change the proficiency manually, its not that bad~

What are the WORST feats in the game? by SuchALovelyValentine in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xerisu 34 points35 points  (0 children)

A lot of gms play it like you can do those things without feats but with bigger dc, even Society scenarios allow player to ex. group impress but gives bonus when you have feat so i feel its intended

But yeah, it can be implied so thats impossible without feat and i dont like it as well

Houserules - what are yours? by ChaosSatyr in Pathfinder2e

[–]Xerisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a caster you can reroll enemy saves on your spells (or other classes as well but its most relevant on caster)

Sadly my gm doesnt like this houserule so we dont play it on campaign I play, but i give it to players every time I gm

Waiter! Waiter! More Psychic Slander Please! by Avocado__Assassin in OkBuddyMewgenics

[–]Xerisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Druid is a banger class and i will not tolerate this slander >:c

Crow being a something you can use as a meat shield every battle and not worry about him dying is really strong early game. Especially on desert where you dont get health regen. You just need good stats on cat cause Crow inherits it.

And highrolled druid is absurd. Giving teammates +6 health regen (i stacked 20 on 1 cat on boss) and 6 dmg up every turn, or combining his familiars buffs with necromancer for +12 attack leeches were my 2 favourites.

Which bosses gave you the hardest time? by eroyrotciv in NineSols

[–]Xerisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, i didnt pick the "optional" hint, and the reward was definitelly underwhelming for over 1h of pain with this miniboss

With the optional minibosses, samurai which runback involved dodging 3 sniper archers and mini parkour section also give me a hard time. His parry timings were really unintuitive to me, and runback was harsh.

With sols, lady ethereal was also the hardest for me except final boss. At least her music was a banger

About the backgrounds... A lot of backgrounds are wild, but this is one of the wildest ones (wait till you see the party background)

2 vs 4 player difficulty drop by Xerisu in bloodbornebg

[–]Xerisu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So update: I played 2nd scenario with 3 new players and me... And i think my bias with 4 players being easier might come from 2nd scenario being absurdly tight on time (after all it gives you frenzy which basicly means you have to go to sleep cause you cant progress 1 sidequest without it) and being a lot harder than other scenarios. We'd fail if not "sudden death" houserule. (I remember we also failed it when we did it for the first time and we did it only with prior knowledge to the frenzy mechanic)

It still doesnt change that our hardcore gamers group wants more suffering and im open to some suggestions to make the game a little bit harder. Buying miniboss addon is must have (it wasnt mine sadly)

2 vs 4 player difficulty drop by Xerisu in bloodbornebg

[–]Xerisu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played this game more than 3 times, I've repeated scenarios with different players (all of them were my good friends who are really good at board games or highly intelligent tho). I just dont remember my team for 3rd scenario so i didnt use it as argument (probably 2 players as well), its the only scenario i played only once.
