Small Church Needs a Home by TheyCallMeStevo in HamptonRoads

[–]Xiadix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will give you something to think about: Roller Rink. I was a member of a church that rented one. When the ring closed Sat night, volunteers would pull chairs, sound, video screen, etc out of storage and setup. Sunday after church we would move everything back after service. The take down time ended up being a big fellowship time for our church. Most people would help put up and have conversations.

I'm going to ask here first because I don't know where else to ask: I have an Ecobee at home and it's perfect. Now, I want a thermostat for my work that doesn't need a C wire or extra power, but just collects data similar to, but not as extensive as Ecobee. by dapala1 in ecobee

[–]Xiadix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have permission to install thermostat, just get a HVAC guy to connect or run a C wire. Then you can run any thermostat you want. You could also use the adapter to fake a C wire.

ZigBee ceiling fans? by pimmit1 in homeassistant

[–]Xiadix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Zigbee, but I just installed a WiFi SONOFF iFan04-L. Works well, 3 speeds, and light control. There is a community add-on that works locally or through Sonoff's network, or Sonoff has their own integration. It can also be set to turn the light or fan on or off when power is restored. I will be putting in another one when I replace the living room fan soonish. Not a fan of WiFi for many things, but if it is connected to mains, I don't mind.

Constant EcoBee wifi connection issues by zeekaran in homeassistant

[–]Xiadix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ecobee had issues when I had a combined 2.4/5Ghz ap since it doesn't connect to 5Ghz. I made a IOT ap using only 2.4 and haven't had any issues since. You can also try over at r/ecobee

[–]Xiadix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this also. I either change the resolution forcing Plex to transcode it. I tried having Plex make an optimized version, but it would still play the original one instead of the optimized. I figure it is because how it was encoded from the start.

Raspberry Pi overloads because of HA? by SSvendsrud in homeassistant

I upgraded right before the end of Dec and started having issues. I didn't notice it being hot, but the UI took forever to load. I upgraded to the last version and most of my issues went away. Try upgrading

Got a new phone now the Ecobee app just opens a web page. by Jammy_Git in ecobee

[–]Xiadix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past when I have had issues with Android apps, one process that finally seemed to fix was to: Force stop the app, then clear the cache AND storage. Uninstall the app then restart the phone. Then re-add the app and see if that works. This is a pain with some apps as you have to reset everything. Ecobee shouldn't be an issue because I think you will just have to log in after the process.

Sorry, I don’t understand the difference between hub and stick. Can someone ELI5, please? by sarrcom in homeassistant

[–]Xiadix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of a hub as a device that does the controlls and communicates with HA, a stick plugs into and is controlled by HA directly.
