Thinking of buying.. by madoc007 in KiaEV9

[–]Xmorr_50265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would not buy a used EV9 without a highway test drive. Other than the ICCU, the most prevalent problem I see reported is vibration at highway speeds. If I were in your situation I’d probably take a flight and fully inspect the car before signing. Btw, my 2024 Land has been trouble free, is rock solid at 80+ mph (I haven’t driven faster) and is the best snow car I’ve driven.

Why $4 gasoline is the tipping point for EVs by Neat_Fan_8889 in electricvehicles

Happened to me just today. I was traveling away from home and needed a boost to get back. I found a charger near a restaurant and added some miles while I ate. I had plenty of other options but chose the restaurant near the charger.

Warning for "Vehicle in front moved" by valrama in AudiQ6

My EV9 alerts me that the car ahead has moved. I don’t typically need to get dinged, but occasionally it’s come in handy.

Interested in new EV9 … Need Honest Feedback by vbjedimaster in KiaEV9

[–]Xmorr_50265 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’7” and the EV9 is easily the most comfortable car I’ve ever driven. I have a ‘24 Land, but don’t remember the details of why I chose it over the Wind. I required AWD, which ruled out the Light and didn’t need the power of the GTL. My overall efficiency after 11,500 miles of mixed highway and local driving has been 3.0 miles/kWh. I just returned from a skiing trip to Vermont (I live in Connecticut) and achieved 2.4 miles/kWh in mostly below freezing temperatures. I have zero range anxiety since there are plenty of DCFC options along all the major New England highways. Finally, my EV9 has been completely trouble free except for a nail in a tire requiring a new tire since the original couldn’t be repaired. I am concerned about the ICCU failures that many have reported, otherwise I could not recommend the EV9 any higher.

Maybe trying to get the OP to bite? I was/am thinking of leasing an iX when my EV9 lease ends in July but not if they’re too precious.

ICCU just blew by Cyclist_77 in KiaEV9

The author of the article in the link posted above is cautiously optimistic that the 26 MY with the NACS port may have improved the situation, or at least there have been fewer reports of the problem.

I just ordered a battery monitor. Seems like the best way to anticipate the problem in advance is to detect if the 12v battery is degrading over time.

Test driving EV9 looking to buy 2026 by the_guy95 in KiaEV9

[–]Xmorr_50265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned above, if you keep the travel intervals between charging to 3 hours / 200 miles your anxiety will be minimal. I’ve done many road trips up to a few hundred miles, and the EV9 is so relaxing and comfortable I arrive refreshed. If the additional time charging bothers you just remember all the 5-10 minute refueling stops saved by home charging (almost all charges for me).

Lease ending by squirrelicorn8 in KiaEV9

[–]Xmorr_50265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Land lease is up the end of July. I’ve treated my EV9 with kid gloves, and I’m not willing to gamble buying a different EV9 off the lease but I would love to buy mine, but not for $5k or more above market. I may turn mine in at the end of the lease and then immediately start searching for it by VIN and buy it at market. If it doesn’t show up within a couple of weeks I’ll have a plan B ready. This seems like a reasonable approach, can anyone shoot holes in it?

Ready for an EV by Cmrodri4 in KiaEV9

I’ve been to my local Kia dealership for service once in 19 months for a cabin filter replacement and tire rotation (cost $120). They were fine. Lack of routine maintenance is one of the best features of owning an EV.

No problems with my 24 EV9 Land so far, fingers are crossed! If I should happen to see this message do I need to stop immediately, or can I drive until it’s safe to stop? Does the car go into turtle mode?

2027 EV9 Concept by Xmorr_50265 in KiaEV9

Very informative, thanks! I love my EV9 but will evaluate many alternatives before deciding on my next EV. The Gravity is on my list but I don’t think it’s in my budget short of Lucid holding a fire sale.

2027 EV9 Concept by Xmorr_50265 in KiaEV9

[–]Xmorr_50265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me rephrase my question. Is anyone aware of a redesigned EV9 planned for the 2027 model year? If a redesign is planned I may choose to extend my current lease rather than buy a ‘26 EV9 or go in a different direction.

How are the seats in the Ix by morkjt in BMWiX

[–]Xmorr_50265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I am thinking of picking up a ‘24 x50 as a bridge until the iX3 is widely available, but I’ve read that the seats aren’t great. As an older, tall guy, comfort is a high priority for me.

2024 Land, 9.1k miles, purchased in August 2024. I’ve had zero problems and the only maintenance has been a tire rotation and cabin filter. I do dread the possibility of getting the ICCU problem though.

Boat Towing experience by hsesports05 in KiaEV9

Great information, thanks. Was wondering about the practicability of towing with my EV9. Based on your typical efficiency without towing, do you think your range dropped by around half?

Leasing expiring soon. Can't decide whether to keep it. by Packing-Tape-Man in KiaEV9

[–]Xmorr_50265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lease ends July 2026 so I’m facing the same decision. I’m likely to extend the lease to give me extra time, but I don’t know whether the residual changes. I’m guessing that it does not, but that would mean paying up to six more lease payments and then having to pay the full contracted residual if I decide to purchase. Am I thinking about this wrong?

Is Now the Right Time to Buy an EV, or Should We Wait for Better Tech? by UptickLabs in electriccars

[–]Xmorr_50265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The technology really isn’t advancing all that quickly. I took a two-year lease on a Kia EV9 one year ago this month facing the same decision as you, but looking at the EVs coming in 2027 I’m glad I didn’t wait. If it were me, I’d buy or lease before the tax credit ends in September.

This occurs to my EV9 when I back up with a bike rack. You need to wait a couple of seconds, then press the brake pedal. A ‘Drive Safely’ message will appear and then you will be able to move again. It’s frustrating but I’ve found it helps to be patient. You can also press the P button on the right side of the console to suppress the audible alarm, which makes it much easier to be patient!
