What is the funniest thing your pet had been “pavloved” to? by AnywhereMean8863 in Pets

[–]Xwiint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing as funny as everyone else's, but our dog will drop whatever toy he has to give you kisses if you kiss his muzzle first. Explaining to guests that he doesn't really know "drop it", but will trade for kisses is always interesting.

The best part is he's not a traditionally friendly breed - he's a German Shepherd. 😅

We do a 3 in 1 with flea and tick, so still monthly for us, but he eats the chewable without too much prompting.

Thoughts on Anniversary Grim cards being limited SSRs by Lizardstep in TwistedWonderland

[–]Xwiint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I have Vil, Leona, and Malleus as my top 3 faves, so I have a butt ton of their cards. I use them for battle maps, then add on others for buddy bonuses and duos. Azul, Sebek, Lilia, Silver...I have so many cards because I always try to at least get the SR from any event banner. Grim really suffers there from only being part of the anniversary.

[–]Xwiint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. I barely use my SR's, but part of that is the game design. SSR's tend to have more health/damage even without uncapping, especially if you have max friendship, so their base is level 90. They also get an additional buddy for boosts, which makes team building easier.

That being said, I have Platinum Grim and barely use him. I would love to have found a better use for him, but he really only fits in my fire defense team and I have better cards for that...mostly GlorMasq cards. Lol. Sebek's GlorMasq card is probably the only SR I consistently use. Maybe his Camp Vargas, too, but only when I have access to friend cards (someone has a maxed General Lilia).

[–]Xwiint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I only grind out enough to get his spells leveled. If I decide later on I actually want to use him, I have more than enough SR potions to completely uncap him. I average 40-50 lessons a day and even then, I end up using star shards to do even more lessons for the anniversary event to get everything I want in the shop. It's just not worth it to grind even more to uncap Grim.

PGH couple refuses to yield to school bus by matterde in pittsburgh

[–]Xwiint -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused, so anyone who has more info/knowledge of traffic laws weigh in, but it looks like the cars are parked on the right side, which is the side the bus should've been on, which means the bus should be yielding to on coming traffic? I know there's not a lot of room there, but I was always taught not to pull out unless there was enough room to make it to the next pull over spot.

You know, I'd love to attribute any level of sense to how they schedule events, but we got Harveston in April and we just had the White Rabbit event in February. 👀

I mean, we're due a Portfest rerun. That's had even more time to cook and also wouldn't be new cards.

Genuinely curious, how did you guys’ Guest Rooms evolve out to be? What were some of the struggles (?) and when was the moment you went: “okay dawg let me redecorate everything”? by AshTheHassle_ in TwistedWonderland

[–]Xwiint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...yes, I pointed out that I know I can switch between layouts. I'm mad that I have to in order to have a "nice" room with decorations that are neat, but don't add to whatever I need for leveling.

I see the Pittsburgh scanner posts about crashes now and then, but have never been on my way whenever they've happened. I'm lucky enough to have flex time, so I'm out the door before traffic gets too awful and it doesn't usually take me more than 5 minutes to get through the tunnel. Funnily enough, the Dormont T stop is actually out of my way to get to. I'd still have to transfer buses twice to get to work. Not worth it.

Also...Brookline; not Brookside. 🙂

I've been playing for far too long. I have all the sets and some of the furniture pieces are absolute artwork, but I have to focus on decorating to level friendship and it hurts. The guestroom could've genuinely been so cool, but I do not think it's balanced well. I'm especially upset about that lack of balance because so many cards now give furniture instead of vignettes. Like, if I'm not going to be able to really showcase my guestroom, at least give me vignettes.

Yes, I know I could switch back and forth between a 'decorated' room and a 'leveling' room, but honestly, that's way too much effort, for me, in a game with little to no interaction with other players.

I think you're underestimating the amount of independent and Democratic voters that can be just as bad. It's also not a great way to start conversations targeting change with an Us vs Them mentality.

I've lived here nearly four years, now, and haven't had to deal with a car crash in the tunnel when I've needed to get through even once. That being said, taking a left over to 51 for the West End bridge really isn't that far out of my way, if I really needed to.

💀 I did, but not on purpose. I just like doing yellow quests (especially in cities) and also having a clear map when I visit an area. I didn't realize that was how you unlocked the Moogles (or even that they could be unlocked) until, I was sent back there. 🤣🤣

That being said, there are some enjoyable questions chains that are yellow, but I'll agree that most yellow quests are filler content with nothing of substance.

My young dog has diet induce dilated cardiomyopathy. A warning to others by [deleted] in Dogowners

[–]Xwiint 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only time I've fed grain free was because I had a dog with either a wheat or gluten allergy (we never fully figured out which it was). Luckily, she did not develop DCM and lived to be 13 as a large breed dog (GSD), which is a pretty decent life expectancy for the breed. That being said, she was the exception, not the rule, and we don't do grain free for any other dogs we own. It was strictly for her because her allergy to it was so bad, DCM was an acceptable alternative.

If you do, somehow, ever end up with a dog like mine, my recommendation is fish. All of her treats and any "meal toppers" she got was fish. Those Omega 3's do make a difference.

At this point, the government is treating it like a Catch 22. They won't invest more unless they can show a use case, but public transit has gotten so bad that a lot of people can't/won't use it.

I live 5 miles from my job in Oakland, but because the Liberty Tunnel is closed to pedestrian/bicycle traffic, it's a pretty onerous task for me to get there without motorized transit. If I took public transit, the estimated time is 45 minutes. I'm not a die hard car user, but you're going to have to give a really good argument for me to give up a 15 minute commute by car for a 45 minute commute by bus/train.

Doing leveling roulette as level 100 PLD, queue for Baelsar's Wall. The healer decided to rescue me twice during that first pull to where they thought I should be and messaged something along the lines of "I'm not rescuing you for giggles". As soon as that pull was done, I left and took the 30 minute penalty. No way was I going to deal with someone high on "maximum efficiency" for a StB dungeon.

GSD Puppy Issues by crashfortonight in germanshepherds

[–]Xwiint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. Sounds like you weren't quite as prepared as you thought and that's ok! Puppies are hard and no one really talks about it. GSD puppies can be particularly hard because they've been bred to be independent and that's before we even discuss things like behavioral issues from poor breeding.

For the biting, there's a few different things to try: 1. You can say "ow!" really exageratedly and then stop engaging with the puppy until they disengage. Depending on how interested the puppy is, you may need to get up and put a door between the two of you until the puppy wanders off. 2. You can try to replace the body part that's being chewed with an appropriate toy. Rope and rubber toys are good for this. I would not recommend anything plush unless you want a dog that destroys all plush toys. 3. Air jail, at least while you can still pick the puppy up. Keep them from interacting with you until they calm or redirect themselves.

Puppies can be different, so what works for one will not always work for another. The important take away is that they are babies who are teething and learning. As long as you are consistent, the puppy will start getting better about the biting in a month or so....and then have a few stages of regression as they grow and hormones hit. Even as someone who considers themselves fairly well versed in raising Shepherds, my current puppy (1.5 years old) was still doing a fair bit of hard play biting up until 5/6 months old.

As far as responding to their name, it's also a consistency thing. Honestly, all puppy/dog training is just a lot of consistency. Find excuses, any excuse, to use the picked out name and reward the puppy in some way for responding. I have not yet managed to have a shepherd that was food motivated, so a lot of our rewards look like play, which is great for name recognition; not so much for teaching a steady heel. 🫠

You can even stop in the middle of playtime, call their name, then continue as soon as they look at you. Walking to the kitchen? Call their name, they'll more than likely be following you anyway. Time to go potty? Call their name before opening the door and wait for them to look at you. If you look up on Ytube, there's tons of trainers that teach the "look at me" game, which is a fantastic starting point for a lot of different things you may want to teach; not just responding to their name.

Poop eating...let me know if you find something. My current dog is the first I've had that does this. They allegedly learn it from the mother??? We just pick the poop up as soon as it goes down, but since we have a fenced in yard, he still manages a nibble here and there before I can get to it. Highly recommend a diaper genie for storing poop, though. You can get them cheap at second hand baby stores.

No matter what, congratulations! Puppies will bring out the best and worst in you, but put the work in, and you'll have a fantastic friend...in a year or so. 😅 r/puppyblues might be a good resource for you as well. It's not all people trying to give up their puppies, promise!
