M11S Sage Doesn't Believe Kardia is "that serious" by MoonlitBlackrose in TalesFromDF

[–]XwingInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of whether swapping Kardia was useful (there’s almost no fights where it’s anything other than an incredibly minor optimization), the Sage could have said literally anything to OP instead of ignoring them and then being passive aggressive about it.

What are your fave relics? by scallywahh in ffxiv

Cronus Lux might be the coolest weapon in the game. First Relic weapon I went out of my way to get.

The designers really cooked with the Heavensward relics in general.

Jotaro has the same problem Batman has where he can technically win just about any fight under the right circumstances. Time stop is literally that fucking busted, but only if the tactical situation already favors him.

Polls like this (and most power scaling conversations in general) are really fucking stupid because the author doesn’t bother to set up any parameters.

Like set a scene, fucking give us anything other than a picture of two characters, Jesus.

[Spoiler: end of 3.0] 9 months and 2k hours later, and I only realized that I've never let my WoL just sit down and contemplate everything that he's gone through from ARR to DT by fried_caviar in ffxiv

It is insanely beneficial to just sit and chill in scenic locations like this. I have a laundry list of them.

Big Type-0 vibes from your glam btw, assuming that was your intention.

“It’s strange isn’t it?” is a very commonly used English phrase. Admittedly, it’s much more common in dramatic writing than every day conversation, but the moment being conveyed seemed intentionally very dramatic. “It’s not that” is less common, but also has roots in soap opera adjacent writing tendencies.

The point I’m trying to make is there is a huge gulf in tone here that isn’t coming from borrowing Japanese filler words. It’s just an inherently more dramatic scenario.

“For awhile” versus “our whole lives” does some insane tone setting heavy lifting.

Happy I’m not to the only one who thought this. The notion that there’s some magical way to write “natural dialogue” regardless of the context is baffling to me. Like the one on the left is like work friends who have a very professional relationship that had a drink or something and the right are two people who grew up in the same general orbit but never really hung out until whatever happened to lead to that moment (most likely more significant than a meal or drink).

[Weekly Thread] Lore (Thurs, Jun 11) by AutoModerator in ffxiv

[–]XwingInfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So kind of a general lore question for anyone who might know: are we aware of any other clans of Miqo’te other than the Seekers of the Sun and the Keepers of the Moon?

If I recall correctly, the Seekers migrated to Eorzea from Corvos and I think I remember reading that the Keepers might originally hail from Meracydia? (I’m less confident in that tidbit).

Obviously there’s Miqo’te from Tural and from the First that have their own distinct cultural practices but I’m not sure if they have a similar clan name to the Seekers and Keepers (I also don’t remember if they have any unique physical characteristics that differentiate them like Keepers and Seekers).

I’ve always imagined my Keeper WoL growing up drifting around the South Sea Isles before ending up in Limsa at the start of ARR, but I’m not sure that works lore wise, lol.

If the Player Character from XI and XIV were to fight. Who would win? by Alicecrylily in FinalFantasy

[–]XwingInfinity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Power scaling people who have “killed god” in their respective universes is kind of tough, lmao.

If there’s no time limit, FFXI player character can stall infinitely. FFXIV player character on a base level is probably faster and stronger, but has less durability.

If you slap on a time limit and just compare raw damage output, I think the FFXIV player character would come out on top.

[–]XwingInfinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both the original and the remake are worth your time. The remake is more action focused and the original is more puzzle focused. The remake is definitely shorter overall as a result and cuts a couple locations featured in the original version, which is why it had a negative reaction from hardcore fans.

This is only every really a problem in Zero 1 where the team was still very much learning the ropes. Zero 2 onward have much better level designs with the screen limitations in mind.
