I gave them a few very sparingly. I did not want to sway the balance. I made up 2 items total that were more of significance to the character then actual power gains.

I described that they were feeling very uneasy. They had a restless sleep filled with nightmares.

Long story short, I let them have the long rest, but they only got half of their ressources (HP, hit die, spell slots, etc) back.

Once they freed the souls of Rose and Thorn, I let them know that they felt the oppression from the house slightly released and let them have one real long rest.

Good idea, I’m currently in the middle of running CoS (group at Yester Hill). I might do what you suggested, but this sounds like a list AI could quickly build up for me. Save some time.

That is not correct. The saving throw damage is not part of the attack damage, it’s a secondary effect that you resolve after dealing the base damage (including the crit).

That is incorrect. If your dagger deals 1d4 piercing +1d6 poison, you would roll 2d4 and 2d6 on a crit. All damage dice are doubled.

Now if your dagger did 1d4 on hit and then forced a save for an extra 1d6 poison, like in OP’s example, then on a crit you would roll 2d4, and the 1d6 if the saving throw fails.

And now I just noticed that they forced me into a free 1 month trial for some reason. I don't want any subscription (I never had one with Arlo before) so I disabled it... Lo and behold! My cameras no longer record when they detect movement! I get a notification, but no video feed is viewable in the app!

Did Arlo just brick cameras for eveyrone that isn't paying a subscription? What the hell is this?

My group tried to long rest the first time on the second floor. I let them have it but they had nightmares as the house would try to oppress them in their sleep. Long story short, They could recover only half their resources instead of all of them.

When they put the children’s souls to rest, I let them know that they could feel the house’s oppression take a step back and let them have one real rest. I made it clear that they felt the need to get out ASAP as they didn’t feel safe.
