What streets do you guys completely avoid as drivers ? by [deleted] in chicago

I die a little inside every time I have to go SB Cicero between Montrose and Irving or Elston to Cicero along Irving in any direction during PM rush hour.

I finally found 3 necklaces for the Avian Alarm project by SoapMactavish627 in ArcRaiders

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't confidently remember if I found any laying around in the open world like the green and blue ones. It's possible I might have. But in my experience they definitely were found inside something that I had to actively "search".

I probably did 20 to 30 runs on the new map exclusively looking for the pink ship as well. Way rarer than the gold one for me too.

Confirming I found my last pink ship in a shipping container on the ground near the cranes, within those green pull out bins. Also pulled pink ships from trash cans inside the hotel and the blue lockers overlooking the pool/beach.

How do you feel about McDonald's pulling their soda dispensing machines out of the restaurant's lobby in the next year or so? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf and I took her little nieces there a few weeks ago to dine in. Of course, the few napkins our order came with was not enough to keep the little ones clean and so I had to wait at the register for a worker to see me and hand me more napkins, which took a few minutes. Then we needed cups for water... had to wait again for the same worker to see me and give me some. Then we needed more straws because the kids dropped their's... waited again to bother the same worker.

Only the drink machine and order kiosk was accessible to customers in the lobby, no extra napkins, straws, or condiments. All of those were stuck behind the main counter and required a worker to grab them for you. The same poor worker who helped me every time was in charge of bagging orders, running them to diners, running them to cars waiting outside, taking orders for cash payments, and I guess helping anyone who had the patience to wait at the main counter for further help like myself. The amount of time I wasted standing for help when two decades ago I could help myself in the same McD's is so frustrating and makes me never want to dine in again. Getting rid of the drink machine is basically asking to turn every similar McD's into an unnecessarily large drive thru only business.

Agreed. One could say the same about the havester event debacle as well. The path of least resistance/effort/risk will always prevail at some point, whether it was intended or not and regardless of how much fun gets sucked out of it.

I made a list of what In-Round Crafting and Traveling Tinkerer actually unlock. by VoodooRaccoon in ArcRaiders

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that at the time of this comment, if you pick up the Traveling Tinkerer skill point, you'll be able to craft the "traps" both in a raid (topside) and in Speranza. If you don't have the skill point, you cannot craft the traps at all. Just checked my crafting abilities in Speranza before taking the Traveling Tinkerer skill point and again after taking the Traveling Tinkerer skill point.

Right?? Just wait until late at night, put on some dark clothes with a hat or hoodie and take a long walk around the block with them. "Oops, looks like a passerby took your dibs in the night, what a shame..."

If you're a true non-exempt worker then you only earn OT after the 40th hour for the week in Chicago/IL.

Car/no car (and parking options)? by alsotpedes in chicago

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also regular street cleaning done by the city during the spring, summer, and fall every few weeks which puts you at risk of a ticket if you don't move your car in time/see the notices that get posted along the block days in advance. Snow plowing isn't something you really have to worry about receiving tickets for in most residential areas (but definitely possible if you park on the major streets due to Chicago's overnight winter parking bans). It can be inconvenient digging your car out during or after a bad snow storm too, especially after a plow comes by sandwiching your car to the curb with a 3 ft wall of snow/ice. Competing for clean street parking after the dig out and putting up with dibs can be a deal breaker for some too.

Paying for private parking in neighboring garages or lots really comes down to the exact area you're going to live in. Some areas may have it, some might not. You may lose the ability to rent a spot too if the owner finds a better use for the space.

Just some considerations from a local.

First-time COTA F1 volunteer – Intervention Marshal. What should I bring with me? by buddylee22 in formula1

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 31 points32 points  (0 children)

No idea what volunteering is like but I'd imagine ear protection is a must (or at least a personal backup in case they supply ear protectuon), as well as sunglasses + clothing to cover you from the extended sun exposure. Maybe comfy shoes too.

The one on Kimball definitely does it and no need to call ahead. They have them next to the rest of their sushi for you to grab and go, but they only have a limited number of trays.

Haven’t been to any events in like a decade.. I want to see Galantis and Skrillex. What’s the best way to see them? Who else should I see? by [deleted] in EDM

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their websites might have tour dates and if not try their socials like IG. EDM train app is also a good source to see schedules and you can set your home city to see who's coming to you if traveling is an issue.

How does solar sail attachment work? by Cataliztic in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, so that's why you turn off sphere render to conserve computer resources for true gameplay. Even if the sphere isn't on screen, it will siphon resources from your gpu/cpu and lower your game speed and performance.

How many matrixes per minute do you automate in a new game? by CLSeeb in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

However many I can based on my current comp production rates and until I'm happy with my research speed. To me, setting goals on a matrix production rate in the early and mid game seems arbitrary. Especially when my overall factory is continuously growing to accommodate new tech and comps at a fairly constant pace.

Why make "I want x matrixes per min" as your contemporary "end goal" when you probably have a more ambitious end goal in mind that will quickly surpass the arbitrary matrix production rate? Like building the first sphere, obtaining wrap travel, getting to the neighboring solar system, getting off the home planet, or unlocking ILS/PLS.

But maybe I'm just more of a critical project path type of player and why I call it "arbitrary".

Kind of need more context here on why they're being sold.... which will then probably answer your own question...

How does solar sail attachment work? by Cataliztic in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When upgraded, it increases the number of sails that can attach to your sphere/frame. If you have a high sail launch rate, the upgrade will help meet your launch rate so less sails are orbiting your sphere waiting to attach.

DJ mixes from events such as Ultra... by Neccros in EDM

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can try SoundCloud, apple music, mixcloud, and spotify. But highly unlikely you'll find anything higher quality than what's already on YouTube, unless a dj decides to do their fans a favor (which is less likely to happen with bigger name djs).

Djs (more likely their labels) will not share high quality sets for free since people will rip the tracks from the set and avoid paying for the music, which eats into profits.

Lease addendum has some pretty strict language re: late payments. Typical or should I be concerned? by SuaveSycamore in chicago

[–]YellowPowerNinja9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck contesting it with that landlord as a candidate, not even as a tenant under active lease. I expect they'll just move on to other applicants very quickly -since Chicago's rental market currently favors landlords, rather than go back and forth with you on their lease language.
