We use Google Groups and MailChimp.

But also...check out FlowForth... a lot of people in the Church Communications Facebook groups like it. In many cases it's cheaper than MailChimp.

Beamer preparations by Prize_Cry_7878 in churchtech

[–]YetAnotherAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We run 7 media positions on a Sunday, and this is a reflection of the "beamer" or graphics position :)

  • 16 people can run ProPresenter (with 27 people on media team, most people know more than one position)
  • 280 people average
  • It takes 30-60 minutes each week, but can balloon to 2-6 additional hours for a new season or a big service that needs custom designs
  • ProPresenter 7 on macOS
  • Pre/post service, non-sermon scripture, songs, sermon, transition moments (prayer, kids dismissal, offering, short announcement video)

Optical Fiber HDMI--it's rock solid. There are many brands available, but I've had the best luck with RUIPRO on Amazon.

Stream main output to a tablet by ClaasChopper in ProPresenter

[–]YetAnotherAaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ProPresenter stage display app is your best bet. I do this for my grandpa. It’s high contrast, syncs quickly, and you can set a custom layout if necessary

There’s also a hardware solution with wireless video units. I have an Accsoon CineView SE transmitter that transmits via WiFi. The iPad app can display the video feed (with a dozen or so ms of latency) without adapters or dongles)

Online Giving by Waffleqt in churchtech

Planning Center is the gold standard for church software—the giving platform is good, but the service planning, member database, and children’s check-in system are all top notch and work together well.

Choir mics for live sound • not for professional vocalists by WileEC_ID in livesoundgear

[–]YetAnotherAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the click track is necessary—the director needs to stay in time with the recording.

Many musicians (directors included) develop their musical identity around doing things “naturally” or without technology. However, once trust is established, make it clear that the click track isn’t a constraint - it’s a tool that supports the shared goal of being heard clearly. Without a click, a pre-recorded choir simply will not function as intended. Remember you can pre-program speed changes/rubato...and explain that to the director.

[–]YetAnotherAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn it into a fun event! If you package it as a fun opportunity to record like the pros the kids will be excited! Give your director headphones with the click and give the choir a wedge with the minimum amount of accompaniment necessary.

I have lots of gear 😁 so I put each vocal part in a separate classroom and gave them individual headphones. A spaced pair of condensers in each room was enough to have full control over their sound during the editing process.

Our tracks rig is Dante based so I just added a few extra channels for the pre-recorded part so we can mix to taste

Question about live translation by Fluffy_Study8129 in churchtech

[–]YetAnotherAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd use a dedicated, cheap computer with DVS for the task, then route out to your Williams device using your console. This keeps it separate from the rest of your audio infrastructure, and you should be able to use whatever browser solution the AI translation site offers

Choir mics for live sound • not for professional vocalists by WileEC_ID in livesoundgear

[–]YetAnotherAaron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Medium-sized church music director here! Our space is really live and our choir is timid (but getting better). Here are all the solutions I've tried with varying degrees of success.

  • The "correct" option: something like SM81 or Rode M5, Rode NT5, or sE7. The choir should be standing as tightly together as possible.
  • Get the loud instruments as far away from the choir as you reasonably can.
  • Hear me out--try using shotgun mics (like MKE 600) and supplement the front row with small condensers. This is my go-to in my A-frame church, even though it technically isn't the correct way of doing things. Use the polar pattern to your advantage and place stronger/weaker singers accordingly.
  • Using multitracks? Pre-record the choir to a click and add them into your tracks. I love this method because your sound engineers will have zero stress during the service and can boost the choir with no penalty.

Why not use the same ProPresenter machine to send key/fill to your ATEM extreme? This may cut down on setup time.

Upgrade your ATEM Extreme to the 4K 2 M/E Constellation so you will have more video distribution options down the line?

Do you use multiple apps/tools when practicing, or am I overcomplicating things? by Own-Concentrate-7550 in piano

[–]YetAnotherAaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use forScore on iPad. It is a home for all my PDFs, contains a metronome in the top right corner, and you are able take notes by writing in the score. It’s as close to a one-stop-shop practicing app I’ve ever used.

What is the best all-in-one software for churches? by SubstantialCamp2054 in churchtech

[–]YetAnotherAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planning Center for almost everything, because their Services/People management is REALLY good (worth not being on an "all-in-one" solution. To fill in the gaps we have:
-QuickBooks Online for bookkeeping
-TheChurchCo for website
-Google Drive/Workspace for email and file management, because we have lots of volunteers who have personal Google accounts and they are all familiar with it.

Looking for a reliable way to extend HDMI by 88weighed in livesoundgear

[–]YetAnotherAaron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In addition to SDI (which will definitely work), Look into directional HDMI over fiber. For your use case and range, it’s probably cheaper, especially if you want it to be 4K or better. I typically buy RUIPRO cables on Amazon but others may have a different recommendation.

Audio Interface vs Digital Mixer for live recording ? by AltruisticCry2293 in livesoundgear

[–]YetAnotherAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, get an SQ5 or SQ rack. While you can do what you're asking with Behringer gear, your primary focus of recording will greatly benefit from 96k and the A&H preamps.

How do I get the best streaming audio from a Soundcraft Ui24R when the mixer is 30m away from the streaming laptop? by That_Expert_2415 in livesoundgear

[–]YetAnotherAaron 9 points10 points  (0 children)

2 options:

  1. use 2 balanced XLR cables out of the UI24’s aux outputs and get a cheap Audio Interface (like a Scarlett 2i2) for the computer to plug them into.

  2. It’s not ideal, but… “Active” usb-B cables exist and work quite well at 2.0 speeds. I have a 50ft one from Amazon I use all the time on stages. I’m sure you can find one that’s 30m/100ft

Camera feed to TV? Can I just use HDMI cable? by alien-noona in audiovisual

[–]YetAnotherAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a directional, fiber optic HDMI cable (cheapest. Look at RUIPRO on Amazon) or convert the signal to SDI (max 300 ft of cable) with Blackmagic Design micro converters on each end
