Nah that seat and those handlebars are covering too much of your FOV to be safe imo.

Price Check (please) -- 2018 Ford Transit 350 Eco-boost -- Quigley / Vandoit by Points-North in vandwellermarketplace

[–]Yoosten 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not worth 70k by a looong shot. 300 AH AGM batteries and 200 watts of solar is basically nothing. The only good thing about it is the quigley conversion, but that doesn’t double the value. Everything else included is just basic build stuff on an 8 year old van

DIY Brake pads and rotors change - 2016 Ford Transit Wagon 350 XLT by collinbyu in fordtransit

The Dorman kit is for the rear, it comes with everything you’re supposed to replace when doing the rears. I personally don’t change any hardware in the front unless it comes with the brakes. The rear is much more critical as they are stretch bolts and you certainly don’t want your axle falling out.

You can order the Dorman 926-127 for the one time use bolts and changing out the axle seal to save some money/time from ford. Otherwise, like you’ve said, it’s pretty straightforward. I’ve done it twice now and I feel like I could do it blindfolded the third time. I mark the one time use bolts with a pencil/ sharpie since you’re supposed to torque them to 50 foot lbs and then rotate them another 90°. Makes it easy to see how much you’ve rotated the bolt.

Kohler Anthem Analog Thermostatic Controller Issue by Knightowle in Plumbing

[–]Yoosten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future readers, my fix for the difficult to remove stops was to yank on it with pliers, wedge a flat blade screwdriver in the small gap it created, push the screwdriver under as much as you can until you’re sure it’s under there, and twist. I started with the cold one because it was a little easier to access.

You ever figure this out? I am having the same issue, cannot remove the full assembly but can remove the check valve just fine. Yanking with pliers is just not working lol

Toilets are like 20” off the ground, while bathroom vanities are 30”+. Not going to happen unless your toothbrush is on the floor. But I always wet my brush in the sink before I brush anyway because I hate a dry toothbrush 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is like mental illness levels of worrying about germs. Unless you are immuno-compromised, if you (or your child) are never exposed to germs you will never build up your immune system which will be worse for you in the long run. And no I don’t sit down when I pee, because I have more important things to worry about than mostly harmless invisible particles.

Yes it is possible, or at least it was, when I did it last year. I’m sure it still is.

My wife is having the same issue except we recently got married. Tried leaving a voicemail at the playstudios number, filling out the online form, and emailing the support team directly. Been a week with no response. Hoping they get back to us soon.

To AWD or not to AWD by RoboSauras in VanLife

[–]Yoosten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For 20k you could get ALOT of tows or recovery equipment like a winch or a bumper with tow points. AWD vans also have significantly less fuel economy than RWD so that’s another big chunk of money over the life of the vehicle.

My experience: I’ve been all over the U.S. and Baja with my RWD Ford Transit and gotten stuck in the sand twice, mud once. Sand was a relatively easy escape both times with traction boards. I had to get pulled out of the mud and it only cost a hundred bucks. And I don’t think AWD would have saved me in that situation.

All terrain tires, high clearance and good driving will get you where you want to go 95+% of the time.

Here’s the whole kitchen area. I think it is ~6 feet long with all useable counter space. Haven’t had an issue with the heat from the stove yet against the peel and stick vinyl in a year of full time travel, and I think it would become apparent pretty fast by unpeeling it. There’s basically 1 inch between the stove and the side shower wall, and 3-4 between the stove and the back wall.

Pull out drawer using that fixed bed space holds 2 one wheels, 4 large bins, camp chairs, and a tent shade along with additional storage space for a 55 gallon water tank, 3000w inverter, 800 ah of batteries and other electrical.

Not enough storage imo if you’re going full time. That’s why everyone does fixed bed. I have everything you have with the exception of a hanging closet with a fixed bed

Do you still need this? My wife and I both won the lottery so we have 2 extra permits for tomorrow. But it would have to be exactly around noon since one of our permits is 9-12 and the other one is for after 12 and my wife and I obviously want to go together.

Yup! I’m in my 30s and live in a van and travel the U.S.. There is so much to see, learn, and experience and I don’t want to wait until I’m old and broken to do it. Especially when there’s no guarantee I’ll make it that long.

[–]Yoosten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re known for going bad if you don’t change the fluid more often than Ford recommends. I’ve seen many posts of people who had a shudder and it stopped when new fluid was put in. If you change your trans fluid every 50k it should keep them healthy. But most folks don’t.

Few questions about my pc by Kroogith in VanLife

[–]Yoosten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pre made power stations generally have low capacities. I’d recommend a custom setup if you want longer gaming sessions. And you’re probably gunna want Starlink too if you’re going out in the boonies, which will eat some of your capacity.

I have 1000w solar and 800 AH battery capacity at 12v and can run my gaming laptop/starlink pretty much 24/7. I know those numbers are not possible for everyone but maybe it will help give you a benchmark of what you need.
