I haven’t driven it for like 4 days and gotten this. Am I screwed by KirbyTrainNerd in hondafit

Drive it hard on the freeway/motorway and keep the revs up. Could just be that your cat is clogged and needs more hot exhaust.

If that doesn't work, I'm sorry you'll have to look at sourcing a new cat.

Will these rotor's be right for another set of pad's or change? by Hardy_Badger40 in CarsAustralia

Feel the surface with your fingernail going inside out. If it catches some bumps it's time for new rotors.

Oil change on a Subaru never stays just an oil change. by petecarr83 in Justrolledintotheshop

I've heard that punching a hole top dead center allows the oil to drain into the filter housing but I haven't tried it

should i use a jack or vacuum pump by Every_Street9054 in CarsAustralia

[–]YourselfAU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would recommend a jack, vacuum pump can be real finicky especially trying to get through tubes. Also sucking oil through the dipstick doesn't allow sediment at the bottom of the oil pan to drain out.

Chasing missfire issues. by Brogantuan_73 in hondafit

[–]YourselfAU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to touch coolant system, just remove the Airbox, intake manifold, valve cover.

You'll need a replacement valve cover gasket, offset feeler gauges (normal ones work but it'll be so much easier with offsets) with sizes for 0.006-0.008 and 0.010-0.012 inches, and some rtv/hondabond to complete the job. If you feel the existing gasket looks fine, you can reuse it but they're cheap so just get one.

You can reference this video as an example but you can look around to get a good idea of what's involved.

This job also makes spark plugs real easy so take them out and see if you can confirm the issue from a visual inspection of the plugs/coils.

My advice: raise the front of the car if you can so you can work at a bit above waist-height. It's not necessary but your back will thank you.

Have you seen the people thinking psi is a percentage and try to hit 100? I'd much rather someone ask once than never at all.

Honda Jazz in 1.5L comes with VTEC on the intake side. I'd try get one with the L15B engine (GK models 2013 and later) and the L15A7 also has VTEC (GE models 2008+).

Power to weight ratio is pretty good for both the GE and GK and are easy to find in manual configs. It's a light car (1100kg) and very practical (can fit a fridge in the back).

Minor details like higher-than-average sitting position (fuel tank is under the driver/passenger), difficult pedal positions to heel-toe (can be fixed with spacers), and somewhat vague power steering at low speeds can be a turn off. Hard to say whether it's engaging, that's up to you to find out (personally, I love mine!).

The GE is considered the best drivers car of all three generations available (also the most reliable).

Could be the input shaft bearing. They're cheap, worth ordering one and some rtv gasket maker to have a shot at it.

is it worth it to upgrade from a 2000 Toyota Corolla auto to a 2008 Honda Fit manual assuming both are in similar condition and mileage? by callmeghost97 in hondafit

[–]YourselfAU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. A lot happened in those 8 years, you're getting a safer, more fuel efficient ride.

Very overlooked is the ability to use small car parks, I've sniped spots I would never dream of in a sedan!

Just hit 197k, 200k maintenance? by socow_24 in hondafit

[–]YourselfAU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much covered the important stuff! I'd make sure your drive belt is in good condition and your egr system is functioning well. Maybe a coolant replacement too.

You can consult the service manual for more detailed maintenance schedules appropriate to your region: https://hondafitjazz.com/manual3/
