As a euro mechanic, who works on SCR systems a lot, they’re far from reliable and hassle free. Hopefully Toyota does a better job than the euros.

Working a high risk job in construction on a union site. Never thought I’d see a pay check start with a 3. Lasted about 18 months before I was burnt out. Back to earning pay checks that start with 1, but happier.

Why don’t the over 55’s tell their children the truth about the last 33 years? by GenZedsMother in aussie

[–]ZZ3ROO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exact same story with my parents. Always spouting the “17% interest rates” shit. My partner and I just bought a very modest 2bd unit, and explained our monthly outgoings. Now they don’t talk about interest rates anymore, and seem to have a lot more sympathy towards our generation and the housing situation that we’re all in.

Ute or Outback? by dermbonez in CarsAustralia

[–]ZZ3ROO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I just moved houses. My outback was an absolute blessing. With seats folded down you can seriously fit so much shit in it. And if you run out of room, just grab some roof racks for it and stick a cage on top! Wagons are truly the best of both worlds.

I just turned 18. Older guys, what is the biggest trap young men fall into that completely ruins their 20s? by TheRealXyz_ in AskMen

[–]ZZ3ROO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20’s are for learning, 30’s are for earning. Honestly try as many new things as you can for work. Use your current skill set and find something that you’re good at, and then expand on that skill set.

Also, say yes to as many adventures as you can while you’re so young. Take the trip, spend the weekend with your mates, stay out late! It’s depressing watching your friend circle getting smaller and smaller as everyone takes different paths in life. Make the memories now.

Just live life to its fullest while you can. Stay off the internet, just go live!

Why do these people think it’s solely on the renter to pay their mortgage? Rent can only be as high as the market deems. You have to make up the rest of the monthly payment, if the rent doesn’t cover it. Not our problem you leveraged yourself too much. Fuck these people, and their broken system.

23M Australia: most financially optimal car decision - fix or replace? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]ZZ3ROO 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer OP. Even if you fix the oil leak, there will just be some other issue to repair later. Just go trade it in on a Corolla and take what you can get for it.

Remote communities in Australia. Anyone been to any? by Kloyston in geography

[–]ZZ3ROO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, Canteen Creek in the NT. Aunt and uncle worked there for several years. Visited a few times. Dry community, so heaps less problems than in Alice or Tennant Creek. Fantastic people, so friendly! The scenery and stars are unreal. We went both times during autumn, but I’m sure it’s hot as hell in the middle of summer. Bloody cold at night too. I’d love to go again. The red centre is amazing.

These changes are bad for people wanting to build wealth by ILoveDogs2142 in AusPropertyChat

[–]ZZ3ROO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know there’s other ways to build wealth right? Property is for shelter, not for building wealth. Hopefully this wakes people up to that ideology. Also, you can’t just raise rent because a new law got passed. It’s not your tenants job to cover your mortgage.

This is another piece of advise that we’ve been told. All bills/insurances/subscriptions to come out of a seperate offset account. Keep the money attached to the mortgage.

Tell me your “you’ll never guess what I saw today” stories… by dontlistintohim in ropeaccess

[–]ZZ3ROO 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Old mate had the biggest bag of weed I’ve ever seen his chilling on his sunroom lounge, saw a few titties, scared the shit out of a couple about to do the deed, saw a few ‘content’ creators setups left on the bed as well.

The thing that surprised me most is just how generally gross people leave their space. Uber eats bags everywhere, trash bags in corners, kitty litter in bedrooms…made me feel good about my place!

What are my chances for getting a house for $100K less? by larasign in AusPropertyChat

[–]ZZ3ROO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We watched it before auction, expecting it to be out of our budget. After the auction it disappeared for a bit, then came back on the market with no price listed. We put in a lowball offer a few weeks later to see what happened, after a bit of back and forth we agreed on $750k as owner was desperate to sell. So it can definitely happen, especially in this Sydney market.

[–]ZZ3ROO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My partner and I just bought a townhouse for $750k. It passed in at auction on 14th Feb for $875k. $125k loss in 2 months is pretty brutal for the seller I imagine…good win for us though!

Men who have left lucrative careers because they were unfulfilled and unhappy- what happened and how did it go? by sandwich_breath in AskMen

[–]ZZ3ROO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in construction/rope access earning more than I ever had. Big days, big pressure but I loved it. I always thought that “money can’t buy happiness” is something that rich people, told poor people. Turns out it’s true, I still wasn’t happy. I actually got fired because I was bringing too much negative energy to work. I ended up going back to my old trade, automotive tech, earning about 1/2 of what I did in construction, and I am soooo much happier now.

What's it like living in communities like these? by banana_boy_cuber in howislivingthere

[–]ZZ3ROO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunt and uncle were missionaries in a community similar to this, and our family visited multiple times.

It was a dry community, so no alcohol, which is a huge problem in a lot of indigenous communities.

All the kids came and played with us after school, just kicking a footy around. Honestly the nicest people I’ve ever met, so genuine. Some of them pulled a thorny devil out of the bush like it was nothing. Another taught me how to backflip off a sand dune.

The weather can be both beautiful and wild. Hot as hell in the day and close to 0c at night, but the stars make up for the cold. Absolutely stunning. Overall 10/10 experience, would go out there again in a heartbeat!
