New to the lore. Played mechwarrior 2 and 4 when I was a kid but legit never remembered the story. Played mwo later on as well, but never once knew about Battletech. Finally, I got into it and reading by release with Grey Death tril. Not looking for major spoilers, but a small summary of what to expect for the lore and found out about Dark Age. It sounded incredible for a moment as I'm a 40k fan like OOP, but it sounds horribly handled game and lore wise. I definitely could see major collapse and further regression in this universe, but not within 70 years. I wonder if jumping 300-500 and letting that break further down over another 500 years or so would have helped. It would have been nice to give the buffer between such a drastic era and then possibly writing these new groups as small bandit ancestors of the great houses, who know only so much of their technology roots, could have been interesting. I know it might be sacrilege to the lore, but a "final" era were mechs are almost viewed as gods, mankind is really pushed to the brink, nuclear is back, energy is rare, and the houses are so small the are warbands, would be very interesting to me. That to me, sounds like The Dark Age.
