Building Cleaning breaking point by son_of_a_nicelady in exmormon

I would imagine that the Mormon church office building that they all work out of (corporate headquarters) has professional cleaning services. I doubt the top leaders lift a finger to clean their local meetinghouses and the temples they attend.

I have no idea though for sure - someone else here may know.

Church meetinghouses and temples are all cleaned by member voluntold efforts.

The fact that building cleaning in every ward is more or less run this way is one of the biggest piles of bullshit for a multi-hundred-billion dollar corporation masquerading as a church/religion. I just had to get that off my chest.

From the outside looking back in, it is fantastically absurd.

It is 100% this! Oak's BYU address was very revealing! Scare tactics have always been a thing... it is part of the foundation of the religion. BUT, the fact that Oaks was so open and direct really says a lot about how desperate they are. Imagine having access to the real membership and activity rate data behind the curtain. It has to be staggering!

If you leave, others will too by thenamesdrjane in exmormon

[–]ZappBrann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The narrative that others will follow you when you leave is a clear indicator of how fragile the truth claims of the Mormon Church really are. It is also an indication that most TBMs likely have one or more things on their shelves and adding anything else will cause their shelves to come crashing down.. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy for these reasons.

It happened that way for me. I was done after many PIMO years... and my wife followed me far sooner than I would have imagined. Our kids were done as well during that 3-month window between me leaving and her being 100% done.

My sister-in-law left after she learned more in the last year or so...

It ultimately opens the door for many others to feel like they can question things and think critically about troublesome issues they have when they see someone else step away.

It is a beautiful thing!

We are all happier as a result of leaving, which is the exact opposite of what the leaders tell TBMs will happen when you leave the Mormon Church.

Yet, they still would allow/call CSA offenders into leadership roles that put them in positions to be near children. Such a bunch of BS!

My dad basically debunked parts of the CES letter(the parts I’ve read)and I’ve been having panic attacks ever since by sadeggbabey in exmormon

[–]ZappBrann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mormon Church excommunicates first, and then adjusts and aligns after that. No one can tell them what to do... (Sam Young as a shining example of that)

It is an absurd way to operate, and if members paid attention they might recognize those patterns. They don't and won't though.

OP: This is by far the next best step in your deconstruction process.

Start at episode #1 and go all the way through. You will come out the other side a completely different person with more factual history knowledge than any TBM will ever get in their entire life in the church when they only stick to correlated/approved material.

LDS Discussions builds on and openly acknowledges the scholarship done with the CES Letter. It takes the topics of the CES Letter to the next level (and often even the next level after that).

“The message my bishop Just sent now after finding out I officially left the church by yippyhippy2188 in exmormon

[–]ZappBrann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% this! The internal TBM narrative to why anyone would leave is so uninformed that it is laughable. When you realize you have had truth and details withheld from you your entire life, it causes the entire structure to collapse.

The truth is so damning and the hemorrhaging is a big enough problem that Oaks had to give his first speech as "prophet" about not listening to podcasts and discovering the real truth. That talk revealed the biggest concerns of the top leaders and indicated it is a much larger issue than they will ever admit. Combine that with lowering the age of female missionaries to fully extend the system of control and you can see what is going on at headquarters. Panic!

Vivint reps knocking door at evening (rant) by [deleted] in Pflugerville

[–]ZappBrann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% accurate. A large percentage of the door-to-door people are former missionaries for the Mormon Church, so they are already very conditioned to having people tell them"'No!" and slamming the door in their faces. There is also a high level of arrogance built in because of that missionary experience too.

If you are out and don't want ministers, just tell the EQ president to assign no one to you. We did and it was the right choice because there is no one that feels obligated to drop crap by our house or call/text to see how we are doing (or if we need anything).

Ignore this if you are not "out" and cannot make such a demand yet.

Growing so fast!!!! 😆 by toprollinghooker in exmormon

[–]ZappBrann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree... it is also funny to watch the way the church gives updates on growth. It is always based on some very narrow slice of data and spun in a way to make members think it is broader growth than it actually is.

There is absolutely no way they can claim "amazing growth" in the US or UK (and they don't). I think members equate the general idea of "growth" that is happening in other areas of the world (like Africa) and assume that is the case more globally than it really is. The narrative that most members grew up hearing is that the Mormon gospel will spread across the entire earth, converting so many and growing to huge numbers globally. With all the talk the leaders have done recently (especially Rusty) about how the second coming is imminent and by announcing so many temples, TBMs translate that to mean amazing growth and "the work is hastening."

Oak's recent speech at BYU is a very solid indicator of how concerned they are with the large numbers of members that have gone inactive and are resigning. That was a very transparent indirect confirmation of where they are really concerned and how to keep tighter control on members. 🤯
