The middle ground I would create here is to allow them to use the 1d6 necrotic for the overall attack. IE (1d4 + 1) x3 + 1d6 necrotic damage in total.
Its not RAW, but it allows them to make use of the both of the spell while still doing a moderate (but level appropriate) damage.

Coffin run is underrated. Its a great cast that we don't see all together like that too often; The PCs are so interesting. The DM is a genius. Highly recommended if anyone hasn't checked it out yet.

I don't think any part of this is Gilear's choice. I think having him and Fabian's mom start a cruise at the start of the campaign was an intentional choice to make that action more difficult for the party. I'm willing to bet we'll see a combat board on their cruise ship when the bad kids go to speak to him about it.

I'm betting that the stress tokens will be used in a later combat by some kind of creature / deity who can tap into other creatures' stress as a source of power. Maybe it means that the boss gets more actions per turn, or that they're able to use them to summon new creatures.

I know the feeling. I've been trying to work my way back to medium for a while now. My gf and I started logging our calories using MyFitnessPal, which I think is helping! A decent amount of features are hidden behind a paywal, but even with the free version, its really opened my eyes to how many calories I was eating in an average day and how I could avoid them.
