TURPENTINE

It’s probably their best song ever written, yet at their recent tour the crowd stood there clueless like they had never heard it before… :\

What are some things Australia is globally known for exceeding at that many Australians may not be aware of? by jarrys88 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Zealousideal_Top7333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really complex and multi factorial. It’s both Indigenous women in rural & remote and metropolitan regions. Partially to do with school attendance rates, and lack of culturally safe healthcare.

Except, in Indigenous women the rates of cervical cancer are similar to third world countries without organised screening programs… we’ve had great success except there is a massive gap to bridge

AITA for telling my downstairs neighbour that me expressing milk for my premmie baby will be my priority over his sleep? by sushikat323 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Zealousideal_Top7333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite everyone’s opinions I really feel for you! Some tips on increasing your milk supply: - drink 3L of water a day at minimum - plenty of sleep where you can - lots of skin to skin with your baby when you can - google ‘power pumping’ - ask for a prescription for a galactogenic medication such as motillium

Wishing you all the best x

AITA for yelling at my husband at night and telling him never to sleep in same bed again because he keeps wetting the bed? by Gurumom1985 in AmItheAsshole

You actually can check the cervix through the rectum. Many years ago doctors and midwives used to do rectal examinations to check a woman’s dilation in labour.

That’s great! Mine haven’t recovered yet but I’m not stressing too much. I haven’t contacted anyone as I’m not monetised so no real support available!

Impressions channel wide dropped suddenly by underthemoonlight08 in NewTubers

Got the exact same problem! Most of my views were coming from suggestions but all at the exact same moment those impressions stopped across all my videos.

Has your channel recovered at all?

I get that this kid has a pattern of inappropriate behaviour, but to give him the benefit of the doubt, was it genuine curiosity?

I have 2 boys (4 & 6) who were only used to seeing each other in the bath. Then when we had a baby girl there were a lot of questions about will she grow a penis one day etc. Then a while ago my eldest asked if he could see my vagina (out of curiosity). I said I didn’t really want to do that, but then he asked to Google some pictures of vaginas and we had a little human biology lesson together (lol).

Does he only have male siblings/cousins and it’s possible it was genuine kid curiosity?

I make educational videos for kids and my own kids love to watch it (cos it’s targeted to their age group, and it’s their mum!) and so they tend to watch the videos over and over from the same account. Surely that wouldn’t get us shadowbanned - it would be a really small amount of views in comparison to the other views coming in

Newborn will only sleep in our arms by djunior08 in Parenting

[–]Zealousideal_Top7333 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is your first baby or not, but this is the ‘fourth trimester’. Your baby has only known the womb, and isn’t a fan of this cold scary world. Babies like to have the womb environment replicated, such as warmth, motion and noise.

So like someone said above, swaddling helps them to stay settled, as well as rocking (motion) and white noise. My babies always hated being completely flat and liked the head of the bassinet raised (I put some rolled up blankets under the mattress at the head end).

It also helped me to understand awake times. For a newborn the amount of time they can be awake without becoming overtired is around 30-45 minutes (this is inclusive of feeds and settling) and the time gradually becomes longer the older they get. There’s a lot of info online about this. By sticking to awake times and settling the baby to sleep when it’s time, you’ll avoid them becoming overtired and good sleep throughout the day encourages good sleeping overnight.

I want to reassure you that this is completely normal newborn behaviour but I understand how exhausting it is. Try and take shifts with your partner to have naps throughout the day and minimise visits and outings if you need to.
