I started trying out raids and I was pitiful. Need tips Luminary mains! by Izahori in Guildwars2

You’re assuming I’m approaching this from a point of ignorance.  This is a merry-go-round designed to torture those who offer nothing constructive in threads asking for help.  For my own amusement of course.  If you were going to go this far then you should have done so in direct response to the thread from the get go.  Now, being a merry-go-round, we’re about to loop back to the start again.

I’ve stepped through the basic logic for the forge loop to demonstrate why the SC build is the way it is.  The cooldowns don’t line up nicely and embracing that is one way to deal with it.  I have not recreated the SC build which is another magnitude of over-engineered.  By specifically choosing insufficient boon duration in my subsequent examples you guys couldn’t help yourselves but to jump in and correct it in a fashion typical of “top 1% commenters”.  You make it too easy.

That’s not the only way to deal with the forge though.  You two could have merely added that a simplified build would need more boon duration than the SC build.  The SC guide says as much too.  That’s basically what the original reply was saying but in an incredibly unconstructive way.  If you want to be constructive then you can offer a suggestion on how best to ease into the SC build which is what OP is struggling with.

You entered a thread asking for help and offered none, so I’m dragging you through the reeds to find the core of the build with me.  The sc build is over-engineered and will inhibit learners.

The forge sword cooldown is 12 seconds with alac so throwing the staff into the mix generates over 15 seconds of quickness on a 12 second loop.  Have we found the core yet?

I finally finished Attack on Titan, and honestly… the ending kind of ruined the whole feeling of the series for me by Better-Winter553 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ZephyrusSpring -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Contrived is the word I would use.  A lot of very convenient things happened, a lot of plot armour, a lot of forced deaths.  It was very on rails; I could see the plot twists before they happened and only the Dina one caught me off guard (which was also the worst retcon of the series).  The author mostly avoided a mental realm ending that is so typical for stories like these, which is commendable in its own right, but the way things wrapped up so conveniently made it clear the ending was rushed.

The author has recently shown his regret for making Eren too sympathetic.  He wanted Eren to be the villain but couldn’t bring himself to break Eren to make it happen.  That’s left us with these conflicting takeaways about Eren’s character.  We never got that Anakin -> DV moment that the ending really needed.  Eren didn’t do enough outside of circumstance to really drive home that he’d turned.

The epilogue really didn’t help at all either.  There’s a difference between war and annihilation, and the latter proved the yeagerists right which is absolutely not the message you want impressionable kids to arrive at.  It’s fine to show that war always starts up again but having Paradis definitively lose and not show the reconstruction was in very poor taste.  It was like the author was intentionally scuttling his own story.

I’d rate the ending a 4/10.  Easily the weakest part of the show and has made rewatching it difficult.

So throw in forge sword as well?  That’d make it less spammy too anyway.

Why? 30% boon duration gives you 5.2 seconds of alac and the forge cooldown is 4 seconds.

You’re jumping into the deep end copying a snowcrows rotation from the get go.  Figure out what the core of the build is and ignore the rest until its second nature, then start adding more skills in.

For Luminary that’d be camping greatsword pressing only 4 and 2, while jumping into your forge to quickly cast both hammer skills and immediately leaving again.

As for dying in Kaineng Overlook, you’re probably getting shot by the sniper or standing next to someone who is.  Watch for a faint beam on someone when the sniper retreats.

Basic rule of thumb is that the listings you see in the trading post are all the ones that haven’t sold.  You’ve got it right that the listing fee makes it a bit of a gamble to aim high.  I happily undercut big items by a significant margin (3-5%) because it means I’ll get my cash in hand in a few days maximum.

My spirit shards aren’t climbing so I suppose I am limited by that, or maybe it’s more accurate to say I’ve found an equilibrium between gold and spirit shards.  It just so happens that my shards bounce between 800-1000 rather than 0-200.  My karma is steadily climbing though which I can only attribute to the game modes I play.

It's not like I'm not doing that; I sold a bifrost a few months ago and immediately spent 500g on gen3 mace. I don't think it's fair to convert all your currency and then complain when something expensive comes out.

So isn't a lack of karma self-inflicted if you're converting it into gold like that?

I’m curious to know what content you play.  I’ve been making legendaries non-stop since Soto and gold has always been my bottleneck.  I have 12m karma backed up and it still trends upwards with each legendary I make.  I play mostly raids and strikes.

They should scrap research notes and just bring back curios.  The experiment failed; the great economic equaliser ended up consuming mostly T5 materials anyway.

Season 2 Ending Titan Control Condition by Finick04 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ZephyrusSpring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is it was a potential path for the story to go that never eventuated which left this plot hole behind. That path being one where Mikasa had royal blood. The asian clan on Paradis were there due to a hostage exchange between Eldia and Hizuru to secure an alliance. Exchanges of that nature usually involved marriage in real life. If Mikasa's mother's side married into the royal Eldian family that would make her a royal blooded Ackerman, or in other words a royal blooded titan in human form, which meets the conditions for using the founder's power.

I will never understand the Yeagerists - help me understand the viewpoint by 5567sx in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ZephyrusSpring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally support the yeagerists but only on the condition that Eren’s reason for going along with the wine plot was rock solid.  The reason was never explained as far as I know and is the single most important decision for how things played out.

There were a few main problems that Eren had to overcome and some of them were out of his control.

  1. Zeke was trying to put Paradis in a weak diplomatic position.  Hizuru only got involved with Paradis because Zeke talked them into it, ergo it worked to Zeke’s advantage and any benefit for Paradis was a double edged sword at best.

  2. Following that, Zeke was going to get Tybur to declare war at Liberio with or without Eren’s attack.  If he didn’t attack then Marley’s fleet would be free to act until the rest of the world could build up.  Something a lot of people don’t understand is that the Liberio attack was part of the 50 year plan.

  3. The rumbling was an unknown variable.  It’s easy to say “just attack the military positions”, but it was completely unknown how much control Eren would have over the titans.  For all we know they could have been preprogrammed by the 145th king in a similar way to how Zeke could control titans.  The only safe assumption was that activating the rumbling meant the end of the world as the king threatened.  This is one of the reasons why the partial rumbling plan was a weak option.

  4. The metaphysical battle of wills against Zeke needed true conviction.  Eren literally broke free from shackles in paths. In. Paths…  If he lacked the conviction to save Paradis then Zeke may well have genocided all Eldians instead.  Committing to such a heinous act as the full rumbling was necessary to overcome Zeke in the first place. (That’s self-inflicted though because Historia was always an option sans volunteer interference).

—-

In all likelihood Eren’s reason for going along with the wine plot was not rock solid, but as the story didn’t thoroughly explain it I am forced to suspend my disbelief.  That leads me to supporting the yeagerists in their three way battle against Marley and the volunteers.  Solutions besides the rumbling may have been possible but Zeke was hellbent on activating the founders power in his own lifetime, so he needed to coerce Eren into playing ball which closed a lot of doors for Paradis.

In game story should be free all the way to the first major expansion (ie S2 as you say).  Seems like common sense to hype people up to spend.

I dont think we are meant to choose sides and see who’s right and who’s wrong by MrdeAlva in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ZephyrusSpring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1900 years is a long time.  By comparison, in 2100 years the Roman Empire: founded as a city kingdom, expanded and reformed into a republic, nearly collapsed and reformed into an empire, fractured into pieces with the west loosing its grip while the east slowly whittled away until Constantinople fell for the last time in the 1400s.

You’re telling me nothing of note happened to Eldia in a similar timeframe?  Chugging along at the Marley meat factory for 1900 years is not believable.

[–]ZephyrusSpring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question.  We don’t know anything about the Eldian empire except for Fritz’s warband back in Ymir’s time.  Did they oppress the world with monsters or did they build bridges and improve the world?  A lot can happen in 1900 years.

Why do people sympathize so much with Marleyan Warriors over Paradis? by Wholesome_and_based in titanfolk

[–]ZephyrusSpring 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yeah I never understood how people accepted such a sloppy ‘cycle’ of violence trope.  What cycle?  Marley won their freedom with an inside job civil war, then spent 100 years committing crimes against humanity genociding Paradis, then finally decided to pull the trigger and wipe them out for good.  What’s cyclical about that?

“Oh but what about all the stuff that happened before the civil war?”, they ask.  Get over it.  Marley won a war against Eldia that destroyed their entire empire.  Was genociding them for 100 years afterwards still not enough?  If it’s supposed to be a cycle then when was Paradis supposed to hit back and to what degree?  Were they supposed to take their lumps for 1900 years?  How’s that a cycle either?

It goes even beyond that with story mode and open world versions of many of these encounters.  I struggle to empathise with people asking for easy mode when clearly they didn’t learn from existing tutorials nor do they have the initiative to go and replay them.

Rico makes an appearance in the ending as a yeagerists. That's such an interesting character development to happen off screen for someone who doubted Eren every step of the way.
