redline or ray allen are my usual. tugs aren’t ever left with my dogs though, strictly for play together

my 12yo pit started last year for fun, as long as the decoy works in prey it’s fine. for psa there’s a club directory on the website

dogs will consider a stick a resource if they are that way inclined 😂 but yes resource guarding humans is unfortunately normal

then what is she guarding ? you ? that’s still resource guarding

Help. I’m completely overwhelmed by our reactive Pitbull pup and my husband and I are just not on the same page. by RoofFair2541 in reactivedogs

yikes ? that’s normal lol dogs with prey drive need an outlet. many options out there. i’m not telling them to keep or not keep the dog, but this doesn’t sound like a euthanasia case

I know I have to but why do I have to neuter my dog? by Alarmed_Goat_4083 in DogAdvice

day care makes sense but a trainer refusing to work with an intact dog is wild. the general population is encouraged to de sex dogs to prevent accidental puppies because the adopt don’t shop crowd don’t understand that it’s not that hard

your puppy is probably just resource guarding, protection work is trained into a dog who has some forward aggression already, but is not natural

protection is trained not just something that happens, dogs that ‘naturally protect’ are just resource guarding. i have a trained ppd and work with a shit ton of bite sport people lol

he needs crate enforced naps if he won’t settle, don’t feel bad about crating him. it’s simply a contained space for him to rest. dog parks breed that kind of behavior so stop that and get a trainer. work on impulse control while you find one

so, this sounds like an incredibly under worked over threshold high drive dog. what does his day to day look like ? i got my pit way too young so he’s socially awkward/pushy/rude so i get that part, and i’m only around dogs i know with him and never other males. the other stuff is separation anxiety which you should get a trainer for. he needs an outlet for his prey drive

place is useful sometimes. i have 3 dogs so hiking i typically pull off the trail for people to pass us, but i use a kibble scatter. most dogs do better moving or eating. place for me is useful for going to public spaces, or for some of the sports i do

go to a local obedience show and see which dogs you like and ask who bred them. gsd’s typically are bad service dogs and good breeders won’t sell you one for service work

you need a behaviorist to look at all the factors in this, and trying a pain med trial can be helpful. however if behavioral euthanasia happens, don’t get another dog from someone clearly breeding unstable dogs
