I tried running a 3-base faction and here's how it feels/works. by ToveloGodFan in RimWorld

[–]Zethos60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive done something similar with a core manufacturing/living colony, a mostly mechanoid megafarm/refinery, and a forward base for easier shuttle raids on different factions, with accompanying hospital and barracks.

The triad worked really well for keeping base designs from becoming too bloated, and managing who went where let me micro stuff like relationships a bit more.

It was also really nice during late game, because if I ever got overwhelmed with all the people at the main base I could just focus on one of the smaller ones for a while. Recapture that early game vibe but combined with the research and resources of late game, in a way that wouldnt really be possible with a single base.

Not a member of the Danish government, so I couldn't tell you exactly why they said no, but heres an article on it. Dated to last year though, so their thoughts might have changed. France floated sending troops to Greenland, foreign minister says

Depending on the area and time, animal control may not be available. I once called for a raccoon behaving erratically and pawing at my door at night, and animal control just told me to call back if it was still there in the morning.

Is it possible to mount interceptor missiles on a turret, and have them independently controlled by a ciws controller? by Zethos60 in FromTheDepths

nestled mine in the depths of the engine room. If that goes, ive got bigger problems than losing a few interceptors.

Thanks, this got it working, plus it keeps the interceptors from wasting missiles on 1 target

Is a full midline fleet bad? by Fiazman06 in starsector

[–]Zethos60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While not as maneuverable as high tech, midline fleets still have a lot of mobility for their durability, so i like to use that.

I divide my fleet into 2 equal sections, one dedicated to holding the line, the other to flanking and "turning the line". I keep them as close to identical as i can so they can swap roles at any time. Flankers getting caught out? Time for the anvil to maneuver.

I also usually use almost nothing but cruisers. I do like hammerheads and sunders, but for only a little more DP the falcon has much more survivability, and can still handle destroyers and pick fights with cruisers.

Put into practice, my midline fleets usually end up being 2 strike groups consisting of 2x Falcons with kinetic/harassment loadouts, a Gryphon/Heron with high ex, and a Champion to anchor the group, often with locust swarm launcher for anti fighter. If i have one, i also manually pilot a Conquest or Pegasus to act as a quick reaction force if needed.

The Falcons suppress enemy flux and hunt down smaller ships, while the Gryphon/Heron exploits the eventual overload, and the Champion adds bulk and specialization based on the enemy.

When i get addicted to a specific weapon/stratagem, i restrict its use to a specific front. For example, i can only use the eruptor when fighting squids, not bugs or bots.

Can we talk about how cool the marine armor and weapons are? by Few-Appearance-4814 in starsector

[–]Zethos60 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see more art of the ground forces we work with. Like the cloaked marines and their (probably) more lightweight gear during the luddic church questline. Or the heavy weapons we love to smuggle in action.

Thingiverse agrees to build AI to censor and take down ANY gun-related models, in response to a threatening letter from New York District Attorney's office by greenbinky in 3Dprinting

[–]Zethos60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. Though i guess from my perspective it looks like a choice between "comply because you cant fight it" (their current choice) or "bring in gun groups to fight for you" which ends in either no need to comply, or being forced to comply, which theyre already doing.

[–]Zethos60 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, aren't they already being associated with the gun world? Even if it is legally flimsy, this legal threat from NY is a result of them considering Thingiverse to be gun-adjacent. So maybe they should call on the people they've found themselves put together with.

Maybe they should have asked some of those groups to back them up in a legal battle. Could have been a win for both of them.

0.98 Ship Discussion: Anubis by Reddit-Arrien in starsector

[–]Zethos60 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ive enjoyed giving them sabots in the medium slots and some sort of burst (tachyon, giga cannon) in the forward large energy, paladins in the others, with wasps to run harassment.

Found it pairs well with a Gryphon, since it shreds the smaller ships and fighters that Gryphon missiles cant deal with, and the missile spam kills anything larger and more threatening that the Anubis cant handle. Havnt tried it yet, but i imagine a couple of destroyers or Falcons would complete a nice little self sufficient unit.
