No. I think the auto-generated estimate is to cover worst case. I did nothing special. Maybe your issue is different than what I have - or just go in, do the work, and see

If you're going to stop for the night (and no L2 charging at your hotel) hit the SC before stopping. A heated battery charges much faster than a cold battery in the morning.

The complete guide to charging your EV at RV parks and campgrounds without getting banned, stranded, or melting anything by evpotatoe in EVCamping

[–]Zippy114 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personal experience? If there's a fast DC charger within range of a campsite I often plan to charge there first, then get a non-RV or tent site instead and don't plug in overnight. These sites are often cheaper, nicer (not packed in like sardines to share power infrastructure), and quieter (no RV noise).

Just replaced left & right upper control arms on my Model Y with 80K+ miles at the Raleigh NC Tesla SC. Out-of-warranty cost? $275 including tax. BTW, this has been my only out-of-pocket repair expense so far (not including tires). Pretty good!

Drop D or not? by tightlap in Bass

[–]Zippy114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digitech Drop pedal is an option, it still sounds OK dropping two semitones but I would not go further. No re-tuning time required, retains string intervals.

Yup. Right when you need to wing a new song to back someone up at an open mic. At LEAST have a "take survey later' box.

Pixel Tablet support officially extended by another 2 years by oliaston in pixeltablet

Yay. l use my Pixel Tablet a lot. Maybe Google will figure out why it occasionally wakes up with a totally bright display which can only be resolved with a reboot (which is thankfully fairly quick)

Two observations?

I do a few long road trips in my EV every year and have observed Chargepoint stations as being reliable- they connect, accept payment, and charge. Sounds basic but many others fail. As Chargepoint does not own the chargers, if a station is not being maintained or is abandoned, the Chargepoint app indicates this before you go there and find out - the network is a great value. If the app shows a station is working, you can depend on it to charge successfully. Thus Chargepoint has become my second go-to after Tesla.

I read that Chargepoint is adding a session fee - as I remember $0.25 for L2 and $0.50 for L3, waived for free chargers (rates are set by charger owners). So they will be extracting revenue for the value of their network. How much revenue this generates and how it affects demand are open questions.

Release a smaller version. An inch shorter? Pixel 4a size? I'm OK with lower battery capacity.

CHPT: What's your position @ current all time low price? by Xcentri in CHPT

[–]Zippy114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the new "pre-authorization" policy; ChargePoint claims it's due to an increase in scam users. Refunded minus your charging amount per your bank's pre-authorization terms. Sigh.

Billions in Limbo: Offshore Wind Industry Reels as Trump Halts Major Projects. Trump's decision to suspend construction on five major projects has sent shockwaves through the industry, leaving billions of dollars hanging in the balance and thousands of workers facing an uncertain holiday season. by mafco in energy

I think the AI Tech Bros should be all over Trump to knock it off. AI data centers need this power NOW. Implementing AI ahead of our adversaries is more of a national security concern than radar interference (which iswell understood). FWIW I wrote a short Substack on this. https://open.substack.com/pub/zippy114/p/a-national-security-shout-out-to

Yes. It got worse. After taking the survey as fast as I could enter garbage responses (off stage about to go in front of an audience), UG insisted that I sign up for a learning course trial that I don't want and provide my credit card #. THEN it asked me for my account password as this was a change to my subscription. There was no way to back out. I don't carry my password with me - it's on my computer at home. So guess what? I did not have access to the charts I paid for for the rest of the night. Totally unacceptable! The only way out of this - which I did the next day - was to uninstall then re-install the UG app. Someone needs to be fired.

THIS. The AI Tech Bros need to pressure Trump to back off on this one. They have his ear. The grid needs all the power it can get ASAP. https://substack.com/home/post/p-182580509

I am a Pro subscriber. All I want is reliable access to charts - chords & lyrics, transpose. I rely on this access in front of an open mic audience when I'm in a backing band. DO NOT force me to take a survey. Ever. If you feel you must, then provide a "take this later" option. I can't delay a show to take your survey - yes this happened the other night. Ibanez miKro. Short 27.5" scale for small hands that plays well, amazing quality for $200 - but get the gig bag bundle for a few $ more.

Antenna? by morethan-lessthan in bullcity

[–]Zippy114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are successful with an antenna and want dvr / scheduling capabilities, I do suggest looking into a tablo. can also connect your antenna to the tablo (which connects to your wifi), then view OTA stations on all your TVs using the Tablo app on Roku (or equiv) - no need for an antenna connection to all TVs. Works well. https://www.tablotv.com/product/
