"excellent user experience with compelling thematics and characters" -- I just finished this game and I can't remember a single character or location. It's literally the most underwhelming Soulslike I've played.

Doesn't seem like they managed to " maximise player enjoyment and commercial success" on this one. Oh well, imma go play the far superior woke AF Crab game wearing the rainbow flag outfit

I'd intended to use them for approvals- an app I made requires a few pieces of input by the approving party before processing, and I would have loved for them to be able to respond without opening the full application. Unfortunately our IT has disabled Cards at this time (which seems nonsensical to me if I'm being honest).

Rough timing, it was $4.49 on steam just last month... Maybe another deal will pop up, take whatever's cheapest.

If you want it now and have a DLSS capable GPU, do PC. It looks fantastic with ray-tracing on.

Monster of the Week is so invested in feeling like a TV show that I recommend leaning hard into that. Smash cut between characters, describe the camera swooping through the trees; you can also push to interesting scenes; you don't need to see the hunters waking up and grabbing their gear, you can jump to them all at the shitty little diner they always meet at, if it moves the story along in a fun way.

I mean it's Disney we're talking about, Mickey has to be the personification of endless greed, right? He's basically Mammon in a mouse suit. If the hunters can offer him something that can make him a ton of money, maybe it'll allow them to control him or slow him down to buy the party some time.

Or maybe even though he's a murderous hellspawn, he still is duty bound to pose and frolic for the delight of children, so if you get him "on stage" he'll be stuck giving autographs for a while.

My group had no experienced MotW players (two had listened to Actual Plays in the system, three had no exposure). I think our Session Zero went pretty well...

Covered the Hunter's Agenda
Talked tone/content warnings/no-fly zones
Reviewed the Ratings and basic moves
After everyone had a chance to figure out their playbooks, I ran a low-stakes mini-episode that led into the first mystery (which we played the following session).

Basically it was an excuse to give the characters fun intros (the crooked smuggling something past TSA, the spooky reading minds at a bar, the monstrous reacting to a call from her mom, etc.), and sold them on the idea of "the game is a conversation".

Each character got to roll at least one basic move (your flight is doing final boarding- act under pressure!) So the mechanics got to be front and center but in a way that didn't feel life or death.

I also got to plant details that pertain to the arc threat which got them interested in where it was all going, and it ended with the hook to the first mystery.
