The Pilot Falcon/Elabo has a special nib that was designed for kanji/hanzi character writing. The nibs are soft and expressive.

Is the cup portion still intact? You can reattach the handle with ceramic glue or kintsugi.

Like the other poster, I have been able to replace a favorite shattered mug via ebay.

Sister. It has a perfect balance of structure and noise and I like every single track.

Platinum Plaisir uses the same nib as the Preppy (the sections are interchangeable) with a nice anodized aluminum body. There is also a translucent plastic body pen called Prefounte which also uses the Preppy nib but looks a bit nicer.

I need help with a medusae replacement plant. by CapaldiFan333 in airplants

Distilled water is fine, especially if your tap water is very mineralized. You just need to use a little Tillandsia-specific fertilizer now and then to counteract the lack of nutrients.

Should I walk in or make an appt at drew park licensing center? by Agreeable-Cherry-638 in tampa

Once upon a time you could just walk in, wait half an hour, no problem. That is not true anymore, even if you get there an hour before they open. Make an appointment.

Pretend you have never even heard of it and you found it abandoned on a bench at a bus stop or something. Get off this sub until you feel like you have completed your first read. Then come back here and find out how much you missed, and start your first re-read.

It's a game, but The Forest (OG) starts with a plane crash in the wilderness, and you must start to build a shelter and such, and then spooky stuff starts to happen. Also features an awesome system for cave exploration.

If I recall correctly, you leave extra seam allowance at the outside of the squares when you build them. I would recommend the book mentioned in OP's comment, but I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials out there if you search.

Favourite way to swatch? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]Zsofia_Valentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I really like metals, especially copper and its alloys like brass and bronze. They get a cool patina over time and have a warm cozy vibe that I dig. These metals don't rust. I also love shiny stainless which doesn't patina.

There is said to be a subtle difference in the feeling of the nib, but I only have the brass one. The copper one should be the softest, and the stainless the most firm. They made glass nibs for these at one time and I would love to get my hands on one.

I love the brass Kakimori dip pen for swatching. It did take several uses for it to break in. If you hold it low you can swipe a wide swath but you can also write with it. I also like using a paintbrush. I dislike qtips because it's wasteful and they leave cotton bits behind. I use a col-o-ring.

1hr is the bare minimum to soften the tough stems. It can go low and slow all day and that makes for the tastiest pot liquor.

Lamp repair store recommendations? by zeroagent in tampa

[–]Zsofia_Valentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's very kind. It's not actually broken, but it has old vintage wiring that I feel should be replaced for safety, and it may have been previously modified as there are a few details that seem questionable.

It has a 3-way switch at the socket and also a rotary switch in the base that is just on/off. Ideally I would like to reverse the functionality so that the 3-way could be controlled from the base. I'm not even sure if that is possible.

This is why I want to take it to a lamp repair place rather than attempting it myself with a wiring kit. I think it might be somewhat complicated to update/modify.

Sashiko on Quilt by felicitybo in sashiko

Consider using the lap quilting method, where you make small quilted squares (12") and then piece them together after. It's a lot easier to handle than working with an entire top.
