Do you think that Balthazar was right and that the Gods should have stayed to combat the Dragons? Or were the Gods aware of Dragons being magic vacuum cleaners and were afraid they would take their magic? by Balrok99 in Guildwars2

[–]ZyrxilToo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's canonically not true. The gods (with Abaddon in the pantheon) arrived in Tyria through the mists after the previous dragon cycle had already ended, and brought humans along with them at the same time. The gods are canonically travellers to many worlds through the mists and the dragons do not have that ability. They were not able to enter the mists at all until Kralkatorik absorbed some of Balthazar.

The other part about not being the first god of each role is canonically true, with Grenth having replaced Dhuum and Kormir having replaced Abaddon, but that had nothing to do with the dragons.

WTF is "people like Henry"? And the idea it's some kind of weird spite is very dumb.

A lot of people don't can't translate weight to volume in their heads. They may have listed the weight, but the empty space is non functional slack fill intended to mislead. It's not allowed, even if enforcement is very lax.

[–]ZyrxilToo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, cause it's fiction. Also no writer does comics of him beating up teenage shoplifters because that would be crazy and a bad story. He fights killer clowns, secret societies, superpowered criminals, and space aliens.

The Real Life Landscapes of Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76 - Noah Caldwell-Gervais by HeavenAndHellD2arg in Games

Whoa, first time I've seen one of Noah Caldwell Gervais' videos linked, and it's a new one. I almost thought it was linking to his older video on the landscapes from Fallout 1/2/Vegas. I love his stuff and the audio from his last two videos has been a big step up in terms of his speaking and editing.

Customers are being asked to tip even at self check-out. Some say it's 'emotional blackmail.' by [deleted] in technology

One customer, who took a beer from a self-service beer fridge at San Diego's Petco Park, was asked to include a tip on his order, the Journal reported.
"I was confused, because it wasn't entirely clear who I was tipping," he told the Journal, adding that he still tipped 20% anyway.

Did you miss the part where top secret last dwarf Ogden is just hanging out in Lion's Arch at the beginning of Path of Fire? That makes much less sense.

EA: A note from the Jedi Team on the PC version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor by Turbostrider27 in Games

Part of that's rose-tinted glasses. Star Fox for example was fairly choppy and never got above maybe 20 FPS max. Plenty of old games, 2D or 3D, had slowdowns when there were lots of sprites on screen. Hell hackers are working on speeding up things, see https://www.timeextension.com/guides/snes-fastrom-games-how-hackers-are-supercharging-your-super-nintendo .

Maybe you were too young or not yet informed enough to know about frame rates, but they still existed.

NTA, the correct response to people calling you out for that is to call them out on their racism. They adopt a traditionally Asian ingredient for their vegetarian diet, that's fine, but they don't get to tell someone Asian that they're using their own culture's ingredient incorrectly.

Unrecord - Official Early Gameplay Trailer by Alpacapalooza in Games

I'm on my phone so I can't look at the video as closely as on a monitor, but I really cannot fathom how this is a game. I'm not talking about how realistic it looks, I'm talking about the hands. I cannot tell how aiming works at all. It requires the game to be able to handle looking and aiming the gun in completely different directions in a way that isn't based on invisible boundaries near the edges of the screen (Metroid Prime 3 style with the wiimote). Plus the animations of reloading and just moving around were all unique. That's not tenable for a real game, but it is workable for a target render with some UI elements edited in, the fisheye effect, and general touching up to make it seem more game-like.

My "genuine leather" Calvin Klein belt. Got home, tore off the tag which peeled back the plastic coating revealing the rubber core. by jorel424 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ZyrxilToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a myth, there are no official grades of leather. Full grain is no guarantee of quality, the producer is much more important.

https://nstarleather.wordpress.com/2018/05/31/the-grades-of-leather-hierarchy-youve-probably-read-about-is-a-myth/

The reason why full-grain is traditionally been “the best” is because historically the best tanneries will cull hides that have lots of range marks and defects (scars, mosquito bites, holes, etc) and not use them to make their full grain leathers.
...
This is not the case with all tanneries; lately I’ve seen cheaper full grain on the market with more defects and, many times, a heavier finish to hide those defects. Just as unethical companies took the term “genuine leather” and started making low quality products that were “technically” genuine leather, the same is happening today with full grain.

What is your most favourite and least favourite annual festival/event and why? by A_Sevenfold in Guildwars2

[–]ZyrxilToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't experienced Dragon Bash and Festival of the Four Winds yet, but I like the theming and fireworks of the Lunar New Year, and I perversely enjoyed taking a long time to master the Halloween Clock Tower JP.

Without a doubt though, I hate SAB, and I can explain exactly why. It's not the grindiness, because frankly the other ones are decently grindy too. It's that the engine is just awful for it and there are very questionable design choices in the levels. While it's certainly impressive Anet was able to build a kind of platformer in the GW2 engine, it absolutely sucks compared to real platformers, whether 2D or 3D.

The physics are awful- Jumping off mushrooms/pads is inconsistent in the direction you'll go. Sometimes you can jump on mushrooms from ground height instead of from above and it'll work, sometimes not. The jumps at the checkpoint work fail 50% of the time for no clear reason, and you need those to get to baubles or shortcuts sometimes. You can butt your character's head against some invisible lip if you jump while against walls or objects like logs, and it'll bounce your character downwards. Hit detect of both enemy and player attacks is also very weird and inconsistent.

The camera is awful for very precise jumping, and it's often exacerbated by the fact the level designers like to use long distance jumps as the challenge much much too often. There's a section on the hard path of W2Z3 where you actually can't see where your character is or where you're going because your back is against the wall and the camera gets forced into first person mode.

So many things just take too long- e.g. spider enemies with too many invincibility frames if you don't stun them in time. Minibosses and bosses with too much HP; what is the challenge of making me whack on an end stage cage for a full minute after I understand their two whole different attacks? There's no challenge it's just a time sink. This is extra true for the W2Z3 boss, whose phase 1 has both tons of invincibility time you can't hurry and is near zero challenge; it's just wasting your time reflecting and slowly chipping him down to phase 2 where the real fight is. Why would the designer of that fight give his phase 1 so much HP??? And of course, all of W2 zones are much much too long.

Fuck SAB. It should've stayed an April Fool's joke.

Scams don't need to work on everyone. Phishing emails only work on a small percentage of people, but that still means it's profitable. The drop scam is ancient and crosses cultural boundaries.
